Rep. Chris Corry weighs in after passage of the House Democrats’ supplemental operating budget. He says its $2.2B in new spending is not focused on problems facing Washingtonians, but special interests instead. Unfortunately, Democrats rejected most of our amendments to fix Washington.
hi everyone Chris Corey state
representative from yaka and ranking
Republican on the Appropriations
Committee I'm here at Olympia today
where we've just passed off the house
operating budget where they spend an
additional $2.2 billion of Washingtonian
tax money that is going to a variety of
projects actually over a thousand line
items with little transparency or
accountability House Republicans offered
a number of amendments to address
problems facing Washington now uh we had
an amendment that would fund building
new fairies now not delaying it even
further and making it even more
expensive we had bills to fund uh
education for schools to help kids get
the learning they need after covid to
get them caught back up we've offered
funding for police officers to get them
on our streets now to help with the drug
crisis the auto theft crisis the retail
theft crisis facing the state now we
offered a number of those types of
amendments where we know washingtonians
are struggling and hurting they were
unfortunately rejected by the Democrats
in favor of a variety of special
interest projects House Republicans are
here we're going to continue to advocate
for things that will improve your life
today not tomorrow to make things better
for all of us in Washington state thank
you
