Emphasizing the importance of fiscal responsibility and meeting the needs of Washingtonians across the state, Rep. Andrew Barkis shares his thoughts after passage of the supplemental transportation budget by the House this afternoon.
Andrew Marcus here State represented
second legislative district and the
ranking member on the house
Transportation committee coming to you
on a Saturday Under the Dome and I
wanted to let you know that we just pass
passed the house Transportation budget
off the floor here a little bit ago with
very strong support and that's
indicative of the great work that we've
done in a bipartisan way with my
colleague Cher fi and the members of our
budget team you know this budget focuses
on fiscal responsibility working within
our means especially when it comes to
delivering on the promises and the
projects that have been ensured to the
people of the of Washington state we had
a lot of tough choices to make to make
sure that we could fund those projects
that are in the queue and address some
of the big issues with some of the
overages that we are seeing in this
tough time the Investments we've made in
our Washington State Patrol and our
other agencies in our ferry system all
reflect the bipartisan work that we've
done to make sure that we could put
forth the best product for the people of
Washington state you know it's a
supplemental budget but it had a lot of
changes and it had a lot of work to do
now we've got to merge the two together
between the house and the Senate that's
where the real challenge will come in
but again I'm proud of the work that
we've done for the people of Washington
state and the work that I've done as the
ranking member on transportation to
ensure that we have a fiscal responsible
Budget moving forward here in this 2024
session hey thanks for let me give you a
quick update got to get back to work
we'll talk to again soon
