Rep. Stephanie McClintock, R-Vancouver, discusses the three education bills she introduced this session and how they would improve student learning and outcomes.
hi I'm Stephanie mlto and I represent
the 18th legislative district as a
former School Board member in the
Battleground School District education
is a top priority for me here in Olympia
I proposed three different bills that
received hearings in our education
Committee of this session one of those
bills was an exit survey we need to
learn about why our parents are pulling
kids out of our Public School System we
need to know why our customers are
unhappy with our product and the only
way we can make improvements is to learn
why the other one is school construction
our school districts that have struggled
to pass bonds this is to address some of
those issues so I'm hoping to
reintroduce that next session another
bill is weighted GPA there's a a
scholarship program called the wooi
Washington state does not weigh their
GPA our kiddos are losing scholarship
money leaving that on the table another
bill I introduced is putting some
guardrails and parameters about cell
phone use in our schools we've got some
schools that have some excellent stats
that are already happening here in
Washington state we need to adopt that
as a Statewide policy so kiddos can put
those phones down pay attention in class
and raise those test scores thank you so
much for listening and we'll see you
next time
