Full Interview Freddie Freeman talks lineup order with Ohtani & Kiké Hernandez signing Dodgers 2024

well we are only one and a half Innings into this game and you Freddy Freeman are done for the day lucky for you live over here in Scottdale so uh how has this day been for you been actually kind of nice um well we had our twins birthday party a couple days ago so I had my dad stepmom grandfather my in-laws they all left today so it was actually I got to just see them in the morning and then come here and I worked for about 39 minutes so feel a little guilty doing an interview in the second inning but U it was a good day it's okay I mean look with the two quality bats I mean what's just been the focus for you recently and still so early in Spring yeah like I said the other day it's really just trying to swing up strikes um know the strike zone feel good being aggressive in zone um you know today F off some balls the left side got i' they said I was kind of jumping out the ball so tomorrow I'll work on SL trying to slow it down and um you know we every day is a little bit of an adjustment and spring training and just trying to get us comfortable as you can you shared with us that you're going to be playing you played yesterday and you've got three games in a row when you think about just a game that I play I mean if you asked me you were out there so I think you played in it you did you got an RBI you know there's yeah you played uh when you think about just kind of the back to back to back how valuable is that for you as you kind of build up for the season yeah that's that's what I try to do um you know I was even sore you can do whatever you want in the offseason work out as much as you want it's nothing like wearing cleats and taking ground balls and doing all that uh every single day in spring training so that's what I like to do I like to play Early get the sords out and I like to play a lot in Spring too I like to get 40 to 50 at B which it's kind of a lot for older guys but uh that for me there's always about a week in between where it feels like I can't get a hit so I try and get that as soon as I can but uh I like to play a lot early to get the the body ready for the season now when it comes to tomorrow there is the uh expectation that sh Otani is going to be in the lineup and we are going to find out what the top of the order is finally going to look like I know you can't tell us just yet but can you take us just behind the door of what it was like having conversations with Dave Roberts and coming up with what the plan is going to be with such talent at top of the order yeah I mean it was about a couple days into spring training Doc and I talked and you know just kind of went over um what his thoughts were and and I obviously agreed with all his thoughts it's I'm fine wherever I hit it doesn't matter to me but um just to have the conversations the just the thought process of us and how we feel about it that's just credit to Doc and organization caring for what we think as players so um that was about two two or 3 days in spring training so yeah I've kind of known for a while kind of knew when show was going to play too but I don't want to be the one to you know let that stuff out so uh we we what we got 11 hours and everyone gets to find out if you had to give us a hint of any sort what would it be I I well would in a hint just give it away I don't know be like mook's batting lead off cuz we already know okay yeah mook's batting lead off all right I'll help you out sometime Jo and I are hitting I think one two and three okay good so we're all off the top of I like it I like it wow you heard it here first now there is I think we're all at the top of the line of Tomorrow there is some other exciting news uh there are reports from the man himself Kik Hernandez that he'll be returning back to the Dodgers and you think about just what what he brought to this organization last year what are you looking forward to with not only him but the other new faces that this team has I actually talked to Kik before I came out here you so yeah um kind of knew that going into today's game but Kik um I think obviously a fan favorite for the Dodgers when he came back last year I mean every time he walked up the plate it was awesome um nowy you can so much versatility plays infield and Outfield uh all over the diamond middle INF field he can do it all so great postseason player um fan favorite and obviously we all love him here too it's going to be a very exciting year you think about just though quickly how special this group is uh does something feel different as you guys head into this season or obviously there's always the expectation to win you all set a big goal of winning the World Series but there's been obviously a lot of excitement this offseason does this year feel any different well I think obviously like what you said there's always expectation the win the World Series that's what I think every player in every team should have that expectation um but yeah I mean there's no denying uh the excitement around this team rightfully so when you have a front office and owner ownership do what they did this offseason to give us the best chance to win World Series um there's right so that excitement we all felt it from day one here um and we're excited we're excited to get going excited to get our guys out there tomorrow so everybody can see and uh you know just get going and getting together as a unit and a group playing together for a few weeks going into Korea well Freddy today has been a exciting day for you it has been an effective day and tomorrow we'll see you back out there very quick one as well but tomorrow we will see you back out there tomorrow though so I'll be out there longer there we go you guys you heard it here first a lot of breaking news with Freddy Freeman thank you as always all right well
