This week on COMING ATTRACTIONS Matt & Joy discuss the upcoming film ORDINARY ANGELS with the film's producer Andrew Erwin.
Based on a remarkable true story, ORDINARY ANGELS centers on Sharon (Hilary Swank), a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed (Alan Ritchson), a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters. With his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles, and ordinary angels.

Snippet.
Faith is kind of finally finding its voice of learning how to do good storytelling again.
I think there was three decades where you look at the history of faith in the church,
and we led the arts for, you know, almost 2,000 years.
But there came a point in the 60s, 70s, where we kind of just, you know, pulled out of film altogether
and said the movie theater is bad. And so for three decades as Christians, I think we atrophied.
So it took a while for us to kind of get our feet back under us and understand how to do good storytelling,
how to embrace conflict and tension, how to be intelligent with how we present our arguments.
But the idea that we do, it's on purpose.
Like, the point of what we do is to start a conversation.
It's vicarious emotional jamming.
If I can jam a wedge between your heart and your head and make you feel something,
there's an opportunity to challenge your thinking.
And so we look for ways to do that overtly, like Jesus' revolution.
And we look for ways to do that subversively through movies like American Underdog or Ordinary Angels.
The idea is, though, to just to do a tool that starts a conversation
for faith to be presented in the mainstream.
And God is presenting opportunities to grow that bigger and bigger.
And we're so excited.
And the audience is fully realizing the power of their ticket now.
To see what happened with Sound of Freedom and other movies like that,
they're seeing that they have a lot of power when they buy a ticket to see other things like this
made. And so it's just the perfect storm right now.
