button and hit the notification Bell
that way you get informed on our martial
arts tutorial grab your collie staff
let's get started all right striking on
our Collie staff let's go through the
three basic drills that's really going
to make you more proficient on the Ki
staff the first one's going to be one in
the bonow grip so toward the middle of
the staff we have the single end
fighting method on our diagonal strikes
we start off in a ready position from a
stance right here we're to come out
downward diagonal number one downward
diagonal number two and we're going to
come up on the three and up on the the
four coming back around we can come into
this High chamber or we can return back
to the center into this guard we come
out it's one 2 3 4 and then back
up remember when you're striking don't
keep a tight grip through the
transitions between strike to strike as
we strike tighten the grip and then
relax the grip as we strike tighten the
grip as we
strike as we
strike and then we come back
out that's the single end method when we
go into the double end method now we can
start to strike this from both sides off
of the Bon cow grip from here we come
out strike the downward diagonal number
one rather than bringing this to chamber
now we strike that one and we turn it
over into the back end and we come up
the three on the original end and we
come up to four on the back end and we
can come back down one 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
using what we learned in the single end
method especially on the transition
between three and four we're going to
bring that transition with us into the
double end method that way we're not
throwing this all crazy and then you go
into the double n method and you're like
why do I keep getting crossed up you got
to work the transitions from
single into the
double all right we have an option now
on the double end method we can start to
slide the hands we're going to
incorporate a little bit of footwork in
there that way when we're striking on
the forehand the right leg is forward
we're striking on the forehand on the
left side the left leg is forward right
leg left leg right leg left leg let's
take a look at it together from the top
establish your stance and establish your
grip we strike that one slide the hands
for extra range we transition to that
Palm down slide the hands for extra
range come up on the three Slide the
hand and we sneak that underneath on the
four to come back up one 1 2 3 and
four this one takes extra
coordination because we still on
impact want to tighten the
grip It's
Tricky so practice this one outside so
if you lose your staff doesn't go flying
into a
window so we can transition back one 2 3
4 single end
method double end method on
short and then double end method with
that extended
grip we're coming back to our stance
we've got one more for our kie staff on
the basic we've got the thrust when
we're thrusting we can thrust from that
Bona grip we can thrust from that saach
grip in multiple different angles on the
bonal grip we can thrust coming forward
we can Circle this thrust with a double
Palm down in the D grip on the high to
the
middle even coming down the low so we
can Circle this thrusting with one end
striking across thrusting with the other
end striking across so we thrust
we strike we thrust we
[Applause]
strike we can change the
elevation going down to the
plexus we can then use our single end
method pop come back around strike the
horizontal and then thrust coming back
in utilizing our three grips on the Ki
staff see quencing combinations of
strikes and footwork on the klie staff
is a great way to bring your skill to
the next level I'm going to break down
this eightc count form for you nice and
slow see if you can get this down from
here from the top we starting our bonow
grip we strike one two on the
horizontal three we circular Parry down
now four we step to the left horizontal
vertical five and six now we have a
staff spin we're going to turn the tip
down down double Palm down into our
six our seven is the
vertical and then on eight we're going
to bring it up into the D grip that
double Palm down and we're going to
protect our 6:00 on the
thrust from here so we don't have to
Pivot so far we're going to come back
into that Palm up grip with the feet
together and slide ourselves back into
our Bona grip with our strong stance
let's do that again together one 2 3
four five six is the staff spin right
into
seven and then eight low thrust
protecting the six o' we slide this up
feet
together and we come back
out
