Birthday Cake - Miniature Polymer Clay Tutorial

To make the vanilla cakes, I mixed yellow, translucent, and white together.
Then I made two cake layers, and I used white frosting for the center.
To make the confetti cake, I used the same color as the vanilla cake, but this time I just mixed in confetti sprinkles.
And make sure you cut the slices slowly so the colors won't smear together.
And once you've cut the slices, you can use a needle tool or a toothpick to add texture to the cake.
I baked the cakes for about 10 minutes at 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and this is just to make them hard so I can put the frosting on.
I wrapped white clay around the edges and the top of the cake to look like the frosting.
And then I used a rolling pin to smooth out the clay.
And make sure you trim off any extra frosting that's in the front, where the cake is, or on the bottom.
And now I'm going to do the same thing to the confetti cake and add pink frosting to the sides and the top.
To make the trim for the cake, I used the same color as the frosting, so I'm using pink, and a number 14 star tip.
And I made little dollops and rounded them at the bottom so they would look like they were curved.
And then I added a bunch to the top and to the bottom of the cake, and I did that for the pink and the white.
And once I added all the trim, I baked the cakes again for about 10 minutes, just so they would be hard.
And if you're worried about the cakes burning, they won't, because you're going to be baking them at 200 degrees, which is much lower than the recommended temperature.
So you can bake them for longer amounts of time, and they won't burn, but they will harden.
And now I'm adding frosting and more trim to the slices that I cut.
And to add extra decoration to the top of the cake, I'm just using rainbow colors to add little strings of what would be something like frosting onto the cake.
And you just want to drape the thin little strings all over the cake, and I actually put them in between little dollops so that they could rest down in them.
And since these are birthday cakes, you need candles, so I mixed white and pink together, and then rolled it out, and then cut little candles, and then placed them on top of the cake.
After you finish with all the candles, just bake the cake one more time, and then you're finished.
And I just want to say thanks again to everybody who took the time to send me their pictures on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and if you'd like to have your picture in the video, just put hashtag TonyEllison, and I'll add it to the next one.
