Make Ends Meet Dinner & Fundraiser this Thursday

[Music] all right get ready for a night full of food fun and music all for a great cause make ends meet of Southeast Texas is hosting its annual dinner and fundraiser and inviting everyone in the community to turn out so in studio we have founder Brian Novo thanks so much for being here thank you for having me so this is a big fundraiser and it's going to be a time for people to meet mingle and help you your cause first of all let's get to the cause and we'll let people know how they can contribute so we started makins meet in the summer of 2021 uh so the idea is to help single parents make ends meet it can be challenging it's tough it's difficult I'm a single dad so I know myself how it you know how tough it can be and so the main idea was to offer programs to help kids get the tools they need get the supplies that they need as far as backpack drives counseling classes for the parents so they can learn how to overcome some of the difficulties of wife as a single parent and so this dinner will be to help fundraise so that we can pay for all the you know the services that we provide for the families yeah I think um it's both a financial hardship sometimes for parents especially maybe single moms who don't have that extra income but then also you were saying this is a way for them to network and meet other single parents talk about that absolutely so um when the single parents come to our uh events we we do things at the Museum so uh the parents can have a good time meet each other mingle the kids can do fun things we we do those once a year at the fire Museum cook a bunch of spaghetti let the kids learn Fire Safety it's just just one event uh the backpack drives give them the tools that they need for the year uh starting parent support group co-parenting group uh take the kids to the back while the parents are in the class excuse me in the class so that I can teach them culinary arts I'm going teach his K how to cook maybe we'll turn out some new Gordon ramies I like it okay and so this event that you're having on Thursday is to help raise money for like the supplies for the kids and that type of thing talk about the event okay so the event will be held at brenwood Country Club uh so be in the Rome room right through the front door uh so we're we're hosting about 80 uh plenty of room left and so the main idea is to g b to come in uh tell more about our organization Services we provide where the funding goes U what we're looking to do over the next several years to expand to scale it to grow it and uh just all all around have a good time we got music taco bar uh we're gonna have Jimmy Kaiser playing some music two-hour event won't take up your whole evening but we're doing it on a Thursday so that um you know everybody can come out and try not to take up church night on Wednesday and try not to cut into the weekend okay and how do people get tickets uh you can look us up on makins meet of spx.org find us on Facebook maybe they'll have a link here and um tickets are 35 uh sponsorship levels for tables for organizations uh for uh businesses you know you can look at the back and and we offer some tables for those as well okay and if there single parents at home saying maybe I want to join that group they can go to the same more than welcome more than merrier uh it's a good time uh there's a lot to learn nwork with other families we're going to start a lot of other programs to help uh financial literacy get into their first homes uh get back into college just all in all um life building skills and things that you need to um to make it on your own I love that you were you became a single parent and just saw a need there and jumped in so good for for doing that thank you all right hopefully a lot of people turn out for your event we hope to have a good one this will be our third year so uh folks have been here for two other ones so we'll be here and hopefully uh hopefully some new ones will see this and come on out perfect thanks Brian
