Rep. Travis Couture, R-Allyn, highlights more of the tragedies to happen as a result of restrictions on police pursuits since 2021. Before closing out his speech urging a "yes" vote on I-2113, Couture explained how proud he is to live in a state where the power of the over 400,000 people who signed I-2113 outweighed any lawmaker's power.
good member from the 35th legislative
district representative
Couture thank you Mr Speaker rising in
full support proud support of this
initiative Mr Speaker it wasn't too long
ago where a man a criminal stole a
vehicle and transcended multiple
counties including two of the counties
in my district and every time he crossed
a county line the police could not
pursue him he ended up going through
Mason County the cops could not pursue
he ended up in Kitsap County the cops
could not
pursue he went the wrong way down
Highway
16 in a head-on
collision I'll let you think about what
happened with that Mr
Speaker sadly these stories come too
often since the grave error of what was
passed in
2021 and today Mr Speaker we have an
opportunity to end that
error an opportunity to restore Public
Safety an opportunity to stop the rising
crime an opportunity to back
our brave men and women in law
enforcement so that they can do the job
that they signed up for not to get rich
and not to to be safe but to keep us
safe so that our
constituents can be safe and finally Mr
Speaker I'm proud that we live in a
state where the people of our state have
more power than anyone under this Dome
and that over 400,000 of them can sign
on the dotted line and make us listen
please vote yes
