today we're going to be taking a look at
some knife fighting techniques of kali
let's grab a training knife and uh let's
do this drill together real quick all
right so for this drill we're taking a
look at uh doing this drill starting off
in the reverse grip
and it's a total of seven movements
we're working different types of tactics
and blending them into one drill
so we're going to start off right here
in a neutral position we're going to
turn to the right as if our opponent is
approaching to the right and this could
also be you know starting to get into
that bladed position as well so you can
look at it that way also
first movement i'm gonna start off with
a circular two thrust just like this
and then go into a broken vertical
thrust
from there we're gonna go into some
countering an outside tap
and an inside tap
from there we're gonna slash to the eyes
we're going to thrust low to the groin
and then we're going to come up and
we're going to thrust up to the eyes
now right here as we're thrusting to the
eyes we have two options
we can go ahead and go into this basic
jabbing thrust or we can go into what's
called the extended largo footwork
and raise that rear foot and that's
going to give you
about an extra foot or foot and a half
extended reach
so from here
circular
into the vertical
outside tap
inside tap
slash the eyes
thrusting down that jabbing thrust to
the groin
and then up
jabbing thrust to the eyes let's take a
look at this one from uh from the back
from here
circular
into the vertical
tap low to the outside tap low to the
inside slash up to the eyes
thrust the groin and
thrust out to the eye
[Music]
once you've practiced this drill on
the right hand side
okay you can also practice this drill on
the left hand side as well
boom and bop right there
the other thing that you can do is you
can do these exact same movements the
exact same exercise from the forward
grip let's take a look at it but from
here this is going to become a circular
slash
into the broken vertical
we're going to tap to the outside
and tap to the inside
slashing the eyes
jabbing load to the groin
and jabbing back up to the eyes
[Music]
this is a great drill to practice it's
very dynamic and it covers a lot of the
different knife fighting tactics and
aspects different elevational changes
but we're also working in the slashing
the thrusting the tapping on the
countering and that quick firing of the
jab and it's really cool because right
you can work it in both grips right hand
and left hand if you want to take your
kali knife training to the next level i
have a link down in the description
below that will take you over to my
online school and go check out my
complete kali knife fighting course
remember consistent practice daily
practice is essential start slow with
every new drill and as you are starting
to get more and more familiar with the
movements your coordination is improving
then gradually pick up the speed but
remember always to start slow when you
start slow you're going to learn a lot
faster if you try to start fast you're
going to learn a lot slower
get outside go let nature be your
colleague dojo and i'll see you guys
back here next time
