So all of a sudden, there you have it.
Arnold Schwarzenegger opening up about his health journey.
It's very tough.
The 76-year-old actor giving fans an update
in his Arnold's Pump Club newsletter,
revealing he underwent surgery
to have a pacemaker installed.
Whatever you do, you need to feel fit and full of energy.
The Terminator star explains
that he got the surgery on a Monday
and was back facing the public the following Friday,
writing, nobody would ever have thought
that I started the week with surgery.
Arnold continues saying he's recovering well
and will be 100% ready to start filming season two
of his Netflix series, FUBAR, next month.
I was offered to do this series.
I said, here's your dream series.
You can call it FUBAR, and there's the action,
there's the comedy, there's everything together.
The actor gets candid with fans
about his genetic condition,
explaining he was born with a bicuspid aortic valve
in his heart.
He underwent an aortic valve replacement in 1997.
I myself feel great now.
I've recuperated, I would say, fully,
and I would say that I am now in shape enough
that I finally can see the bill for the operation.
Did you watch ET in the hospital?
Oh, every single day.
And again in 2018, with unforeseen complications
leading to open heart surgery.
I woke up all of a sudden,
and the doctors were sitting in front of me
and saying, I'm so sorry, but unlike what we planned,
which was non-invasive surgery,
we made a mistake and poked through the heart wall,
and therefore we had to kind of get internal bleeding,
and they had to open me up very quickly
and to save your life.
With previous operations only replacing
one of his two aortic valves,
he had the other one done in 2020.
Arnold writes, this time,
the non-invasive transcatheter valve replacement worked.
It's not only just the failures,
but also the successes.
Despite it all, Arnold's got a lot to live for these days,
between work.
She's saying, I'm old and outdated.
His family.
I'm very proud that I love my kids,
and I'm glad that I have been that successful as a father.
And a romance with his girlfriend, Heather Milligan,
going on for over a decade.
Well, this, Heather Milligan is not only my girlfriend,
but she's also a great,
if not the best physical therapist in the world.
Right there, okay.
Oh, showing off your legs.
That's impressive.
Okay.
The quads always make an appearance.
Exactly, the skiing quads.
Well, now you know why I come here regularly.
Because there's a pain here and a pain there,
but Heather always fixes it.
And while the actor doesn't mention
his lady love in his newsletter,
we're sure she's supporting him
as he recovers from his latest procedure.
I mean, that's actually how we met,
and she fixed my shoulder.
But we're not here to talk about our relationship.
We're talking here about physical therapy.
Listen to her carefully.
She will fix your problems too.
