Easter travel is well underway as tens of thousands of people travel through
airports across the country. Live to Keza Shields now. She's in Brisbane for us.
How busy is Brisbane Airport this morning. Laura, there's been a slow but
steady stream of travellers here at Brisbane's domestic airport this morning
but we're expecting more than 48,000 passengers. The International Airport is
also expecting more than 18,000 passengers. So far things are running
very smoothly. There's only very small lines to check in for your flight and to
get through security which is good news for travellers. However, there have been a
handful of cancellations for regional destinations including Bundaberg and
Tamworth. So the advice this morning is to check the status of your flight and
give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport, find parking and get checked
in or even better if you can check in online beforehand. Now this really marks
the start of a busy period for airports right across Australia. At Sydney
Airport they're expecting 449,000 people this Easter long weekend. In Victoria and
Queensland, Easter also marks the start of the school holiday period. So Melbourne
Airport is expecting 1.7 million people while Brisbane is expecting a 2
million people and a lot of those are going to regions in Queensland that
were affected by flooding over Christmas and New Year's. That is good news. I hope
everyone has a wonderful weekend.
