If you're looking forward to wearing some fun
spring dresses this spring 2024,
this video is for you.
We're gonna talk about some dresses that are very in,
some that are considered out of style,
and as in every trend video,
this is not telling you what to wear or what not to wear.
This is just in general what's happening
in the fashion world.
These videos are more for inspiration more than anything.
So with that being said,
let's get started with the first dress trend,
and anything I wear in this video or feature,
I will link in the description box below.
Let's start with a dress that is very in for spring,
and we talked about this in the spring trends video,
but shoulders are very much a trend for spring.
I feel like they are always a trend in some capacity
for spring and summer,
but right now we are seeing a lot of off-shoulder dresses
and kind of like a one-shoulder dress,
and a lot of just off one-shoulder dresses.
I love this trend.
I think for a very elegant look,
a very evening, nighttime look,
the off-shoulder look is so beautiful,
especially if you're trying to bring the attention up
to your neck and your face.
I think this is a lovely trend.
I think this is great.
I just think it's such a great, relaxed, effortless look.
I have this one dress from Dish that I've shown you before.
I absolutely love it.
It has ruching in just the right place.
It feels so nice.
It's a natural fabric.
I can definitely see myself wearing this
throughout the spring and summer,
so I will link this below if it's still available.
It's an amazing dress.
One trend that is out, but you already knew this,
are the cold-shoulder dresses.
So in are the off-both-shoulder, maybe off-one.
Anything that is the traditional cold-shoulder
we were wearing several, several years ago is just,
it does look a little bit dated.
A dress print that is very in are roses,
and specifically, I mean, it could be just roses everywhere
or just one big ol' rose on the dress,
and the rose rosette, the rosette accessories
have been very big the last couple of seasons,
and we are seeing the roses on dresses.
Now, with prints and with florals,
florals go in and out of fashion so fast,
so you have to be careful with these.
You would not wanna go buy 10 dresses
with big roses on them,
because eventually you'd be like, what did I do?
But this is a beautiful trend,
and I think there are a lot of beautiful dresses
that have this kind of rose look to them.
Now, what is out, the floral that is more out,
are the more spaced-out florals
that we're seeing several years ago,
or maybe there was a couple florals up here,
and then there's a lot at the bottom of the dress.
I'll show you pictures of what I'm talking about.
Usually Amazon can come through for me
to have some of these more out-of-style floral prints,
but like I said, florals do change every season,
and also, if it's something that you really love,
you know, obviously keep on wearing it.
A look that is very in right now are bows on dresses.
I talked about bows being a big trend in this video here,
and they're just a really big trend for 2024,
and so thinking of bows on dresses,
I'm like, hmm, pretty sure my Easter dresses
when I was eight, nine, and 10 had bows on them,
but I don't know about now.
I don't know if I'd want that,
but I've seen some dresses from,
I believe it was Anthropologie,
that are actually really beautiful.
They feature bows, but they look, you know,
they just, they look like something I would actually wear,
so I'll link a couple of those below.
If you like this look,
I think that it can be kind of pretty,
kind of a fun accent to a dress,
but that is a really big trend for 2024.
I'm so excited to share with you
the sponsor of today's video, and it is Songmat.
Songmat has become one of my favorite handbag companies
because they have such unique pieces
and top quality craftsmanship, but at an accessible price.
They use high quality, full grain leather,
which makes these bags durable and built to last.
In fact, whenever someone asks me
where to get functional and high quality handbags
that are reasonably priced,
I always recommend Songmat.
You've already seen me with a Luna bag
in several of my videos.
It's my everyday bag, and I've actually talked about
how it's the only bag I'll take on short trips,
like short weekend trips,
because this one bag can actually be worn four ways.
It can look like an evening bag or an everyday bag,
so it really has a solid place in my wardrobe.
I wanna show you now two new bags
that I just got from Songmat.
These just came into my life from Songmat.
The first is called the Mini Drippy Roof Bag,
which I love because it's the perfect size
to hold my phone, my lipstick, some hand cream,
and a few other small items.
It also has these nifty little side pockets
that can easily hold your AirPods
or something small that you need to be able to quickly grab.
The top features a magnetic snap opening,
which makes it easy to access with one hand.
Another feature I love about this bag,
and the next bag I'm going to show you,
is that they have these little studs on the bottom
plus inner bottom support, so when you set the bag down,
it stays upright and it doesn't fall over.
I love all of my neutral handbags for obvious reasons,
but I fell in love with this color from Songmat.
I think they call it Jade.
I am obsessed with how great this color looks
with my neutral outfits, especially beige and ivory.
This cute little bag has a detachable strap,
so it can be carried as a small tote
or worn over your shoulder.
Like the Mini Drippy,
this also holds all of your necessities.
Both of these bags do come in larger sizes,
but I just love the convenience of these two.
You've probably seen me feature this chocolate bag
in a few videos as well.
This bag completes the requirements of being super secure,
large enough for all my necessities plus anything else,
and can easily switch between a long strap
or a crossbody and a shoulder strap.
This bag is made of a soft leather and durable hardware,
and the color is to die for.
I love that Songmat pays attention
to all the little details in each bag,
and the bags come equipped with premium hardware
in addition to a top quality leather.
Songmat does an amazing job
with the colors of their handbags.
They have multiple neutral colors available,
as you've seen, but even the non-neutral colors
are subtle enough to easily go with almost any outfit,
just like a neutral.
I don't think there's a color or even a bag
that Songmat creates that you could go wrong with.
Songmat has given me a discount code
to share with my viewers, which is READ12.
It'll get you 12% off your purchase at Songmat.
I will leave links to all the bags
that I showed you in this video below in the description box
plus my code, and let's continue.
I feel like we see this trend about every spring and summer,
but this is the first spring I have actually liked it,
and it's fringe dresses.
And a lot of times when fringe comes around,
we see them in these very impractical,
like, you know, you're wearing from your door
to the car to the event,
and you're standing up all night kind of dress,
and you don't even dare go to the bathroom
because it would just be a disaster.
But this year, I've seen some spring dresses
with some fringe that look way more practical,
and I even bought one.
I thought it was so beautiful,
and I still think it's beautiful.
It's by the company Rails.
It does have some fringe on it, but it's higher up.
It doesn't go all the way down to the floor,
so I feel like it's not gonna be dragging
or I'm gonna be tripping over it or anything like that.
So I do, I am liking a lot of the fringe dresses
that are coming out for this spring.
A dress that is out of style are the high-low dresses.
We saw these huge, this was a huge trend several years ago,
and then it just kind of died out.
And so that high-low hem,
you can't even really probably find it right now,
but it's definitely not a trend at all,
and it does look a little bit dated at this point.
We're really in the era of the maxi length.
Even a high slit is fine,
but we just really are not seeing
that asymmetrical hem in fashion right now.
A dress that is in,
and we saw this come back last year sometime,
but it's the drop waist dresses.
And when I first saw this come back,
I was like, mm, I don't know about this
because most of us are not trying to highlight this area.
However, since then, I've kind of changed my tune,
and I think there's just been more dresses
that have come out with this drop waist.
But I have this dress.
I got it from Revolve.
It's under $100.
It's a linen dress.
I bought it for our trip to Miami,
and I just loved it so much.
I even bought it in brown
because I just love the dress so much.
It's just a great little drop waist,
smocked dress as an open back, super easy.
It was perfect for Miami with some flat sandals.
We wore it to brunch.
With drop waist, again, like everything,
it really depends on the actual item
and how it fits on you.
And I've also noticed that a huge trend for spring 2024,
piggybacking off of this,
are these dresses with a fitted or smocked top,
and then a more voluminous skirt.
So instead of the waist being dropped,
it hits at your natural waist,
which is obviously a lot more wearable for most women.
I've seen so many brands do this style this spring.
I showed you one from H&M that I recently found,
and one I think I like the best is the one from Madewell,
and I will link both below.
But this is definitely a trend that is staying around.
A trend that is out,
that we're not really seeing hardly any of,
are the empire waist dresses.
This is a trend that comes and goes.
Sometimes they're in, sometimes they're out,
but we're just really not seeing anything
with an empire waist.
It's not really an on-trend style right now.
There's a lot of other waist styles that are in,
but the empire waist is just not on trend right now.
One trend that is out, and I'm not upset about it,
are the super, super oversized dresses
that looked good on three people in the whole entire world.
I saw them for sale.
I guess no one bought them because they just,
I just don't see them at all anymore.
I don't see them at all.
I don't even see anybody wearing them
on Instagram or anything.
That was kind of a flash-in-the-pan trend,
and it was just very not wearable,
and I think they're just a little bit out of style.
I don't even think they're really so much out of style.
It's just that, I mean,
it's just they're a really hard thing to pull off, you know?
But what is in style are these,
I don't even wanna call them baby doll dresses,
although that's kind of the only word I can think of,
but it's the mini dresses that are loose fit, more flowy.
It's almost like a wearable version
of the super oversized dress.
They usually have a much shorter hemline.
I love these for my petite friends.
I feel like these are beautiful dresses.
On me, these kinds of dresses tend to be too short
where I just feel like I'm always gonna be
pushing my dress down,
but I do think this can be a really beautiful look
for the right person.
A dress that is in, and we saw this come back
maybe last year or the year before,
but it's crochet dresses.
Last year, we saw crochet dresses
and crochet maxi cover-ups come back in style,
and now we are seeing crochet dresses in black
with even more detailing in them,
just lots of crochet dresses
that you could wear to a fancy event
or even just wear as a beach cover-up.
There's lots of them out there, lots of variations.
I think this is really fun.
I would be careful that you're finding one
that's made well because if you do get one
that is made pretty inexpensively,
I think this is one that could probably fall apart
if it's not made well, specifically crochet dresses.
Another dress, or I should say fabric,
that is very in right now
are these slinky, silky, satiny dresses.
It doesn't have to be just your traditional
spaghetti strap slip dress.
Basically, all of these slinky, satiny, silky dresses
are very on trend right now.
We're just seeing a lot of them out there
in a lot of different styles.
Even the satins that I have seen come out are just,
they just look a lot better than in the past.
I've actually found a couple of satin items
that I really love.
I think they're beautiful and very well made,
whereas in the past, when I've ordered a satin,
it just kind of looks a little bit cheap.
So, it's come a long way.
I will say that.
So, if you don't get anything silk
and you prefer satin,
there are a lot of really good satins out there right now.
And then, of course, silk is beautiful.
Silk dresses are amazing, especially in the spring.
They can keep you cool,
can work with your body temperature.
And also, this is something that,
even when it's not trending,
it never really looks out of style.
Another dress that is in,
and I've talked about this in a couple of videos,
but it's black dresses for spring.
I loved this last spring and summer.
I just found it so easy,
especially because I have a two-and-a-half-year-old,
and so he's definitely gonna have some hands
with something on them.
And so, if I'm wearing a dress, you know,
and I'm gonna be around him,
black is the way to go
because then he can put his sticky hands on me
and he's not messing up my dress.
So, this is a very practical spring color for me.
Seeing all kinds of styles of dresses,
like spring styles, but in black.
And so, I think that's really fun.
We're seeing a lot of black linen,
a lot of black cotton dresses.
Even the one I showed you from Dish,
I forget, it's either cotton or linen
or a blend or something,
but it's a very breathable fabric.
A dress that is out,
that we're just really not seeing hardly any of,
are neon dresses.
Neon dresses seemed to be pretty big a few years ago.
Maybe it was only a couple years ago,
and somehow it just went like this.
It just died.
We're just not really seeing neon
really hardly at all right now.
We are seeing a lot of pastels
and we are seeing bright colors and red and pink,
but not really so much neon.
Denim dresses are very in right now.
I've mentioned this in a couple of videos at this point,
and you've probably seen some,
you probably even have one at this point,
but denim dresses are a huge trend right now.
I don't think that's going anywhere for a long time.
There are a lot of denim dresses out there.
There's no reason, if you like this trend,
not to find one that fits you really well.
I'll link my favorites below in the description box,
but they are still very on trend.
Really practical dress, I feel like.
It's pretty much the only Y2K trend
that I have been fully on board with
that's come back around.
This next trend I love.
I think this is so wearable and just such a beautiful trend,
but it's draping, ruching,
and I love this because it just makes the dress
a lot more forgiving and wearable,
and it just adds a little extra detail
to a solid, plain dress
that I just think can look really beautiful.
It can also look very elegant and just very high-end,
very expensive and sophisticated,
and again, like I said, if you need to hide your tummy
or you're trying to hide a couple areas,
a little bit of ruching is the way to go.
Now, if you're not really feeling draping
or ruching or anything like that,
another kind of dress we are seeing popping up
are these shift dresses.
I've seen lots of shift dresses recently.
I find that these are not quite as wearable
as the billowy, loose, draped dresses,
but they can be very cute on the right person
if you can find one that fits you really well,
and we are seeing a lot of these for spring.
I think these are so cute with all the ballet flats
and all the flat shoes that are very on trend
for spring 2024, so this can be a really great look,
and if you like this kind of dress,
you will have lots of options this spring.
Now, if you wanna see some denim trends,
I did a denim trends video.
It's really fun because there's lots of denim styles
on trend.
Check out this video next.
I will see you over there, and I'll see you next time.
