there are over
1,500 active
volcanoes a volcano has begun erupting
again these truly are nature's strongest
forers volcanoes have always held a
sense of mystery and danger and the
United States is no stranger to their
Potential Threat with 161 cataloged
volcanoes including 18 considered highly
dangerous the US is one of the most
Volcan i al active countries in the
world while some volcanoes capture
public attention with their frequent
eruptions others lie dormant silently
waiting for their time to unleash their
destructive power the United States is
home to several dangerous volcanoes that
could erupt by 2025 which ones are they
and what threat do they pose let's find
out Hawaii's kilowa volcano the youngest
and most active on the big island has
erupted once again the eruption started
with fiery lava fountains shooting into
the air from the summit inside the head
LMA umu crater the eruption does not
currently pose a threat to people or
structures scientists had been
monitoring the volcano's activity noting
swelling and increased earthquake
activity the eruption was detected by
web cameras and soon lava began spewing
out kilaa has had recent eruptions in
2021 and 2022 with the most destructive
one occurring in 2018 since 1952 CAA has
erupted dozens of times with a
particularly long-lasting eruption from
1983 to 2008
during this period streams of lava
destroyed around 700 homes the volcano
experienced another eruption from
December 2020 to May 2021 followed by a
current ongoing eruption that started in
September 2021 in January 2023 kilaa
sent a burst of lava 164 ft into the sky
filling the crater with molten rock the
volcano is currently on orange alert
closely monitored by the US Geological
Survey and the Hawaiian volcano
Observatory Mount St Helens moving to
Mount St Helens in Washington on May
18th 1980 Mount St Helens experienced a
catastrophic eruption causing Whit
spread Devastation and claiming the
lives of 57 individuals including
renowned volcanologist David a Johnston
the eruption triggered a massive
Landslide and a lateral blast destroying
a significant portion of the volcano's
Northern face the eruption expelled hot
magma and Ash with the ash plume
reaching a staggering height of 880,000
Ft the explosion obliterated a 200 30
squ m area within a matter of minutes
wiping all all life within its reach the
eruption also resulted in the formation
of lahars destructive mud flows that
damaged nearby communities despite the
destruction the affected area was slowly
recovered over the years we encounter
the most active volcano in the Cascade
Range and part of the infamous Ring of
Fire prior to its historic eruption in
1980 Mount St Helens was known for its
conical shape and was even referred to
as the Mount Fuji of America triggering
a 5.1 magnitude earthquake and leading
to a massive Landslide Long Valley
Caldera in California let's now turn our
attention to the Long Valley Calera in
California this volcanic hotspot boasts
geothermal pools lava domes and
streaming funnels showcasing its active
nature The Long Valley Caldera is one of
the world's largest calderas spanning 20
m in length 11 mi in breadth and
plunging up to 3,000 ft deep this
natural wonder came to life around
760,000 years ago after a massive
eruption ongoing volcanic activity in
the region led to the formation of
notable features such as the geothermal
hot Creek approximately 288,000 years
ago and the Mammoth Mountain between
100,000 and
11,057 years ago although the most
recent eruption occurred just 300 years
ago there is limited information
available about the potential hazards
associated with Long Valley however the
2017 documentary called secrets of the
underground shed light on the volcano's
recent activity and revealed concerning
signs of volcanic activity indicating a
possible impending eruption that could
pose a threat to millions of people
living nearby Mount Rainer moving North
to Washington once again we encounter
mount rineer an iconic Peak standing at
an impressive height of
14,410 Ft Mount rineer is not only an
active volcano but also America's most
glaciated Peak it attracts numerous
Mountaineers each year who seek the
thrill of conquering its Summit while
Mount rineer hasn't experienced a
significant eruption in a approximately
500 years it's still regarded as the
most dangerous volcano in the Cascade
Range this is due to the immense mass of
ice and snow that covers the volcano
even a small eruption has the potential
to melt a significant quantity of ice
and snow triggering destructive mud
flows such mud flows could have a severe
impact on the 3.3 million residents in
the Seattle Tacoma area as well as the
Columbia River drainage system affecting
an additional 500,000 residents in
Southwestern Washington and Northwestern
Oregon
let's now shift our Focus to the redout
volcano in Alaska a highly active Strat
volcano its most recent eruption
occurred between March 15th and April
4th 2009 resulting in major explosions
rockfalls and plumes of Ash the eruption
also caused the lava doome size to
increase Ral volcano formed within the
last 200,000 years has a history of 23
major explosions between December 1989
and April 1990 this eruption gained
notoriety when a Boeing 747 flew through
the ashcloud and experienced complete
engine failure managing to land safely
in Anchorage the eruption caused over
$160 million in Damages making it the
second most expensive eruption in
American history the proximity of redout
volcano to four towns within a 50-m
radius including the city of Anchorage
poses a significant threat if the
volcano were to erupt again if you're

National Park now let's turn our attack
attention to the famous Yellowstone
National Park home to various geothermal
features beneath the park lies the
Yellowstone Calera a giant super volcano
while an eruption is not expected in the
near future the Yellowstone super
volcano has proven to be incredibly
dangerous in the past it has had three
major eruptions occurring 2.1 million
years ago 1.3 million years ago and 664
th000 years ago although one study
suggests that an eruption could blanket
large parts of the Midwest with a layer
of Ash the USG ological survey notes
that it's more likely to experience
hydrothermal or lava flow eruptions
which are not highly explosive
thankfully the Yellowstone super volcano
has been dormant for the past 70,000
years and shows no immediate signs of a
brewing eruption scientists believe that
any significant explosion would be
preceded by months of seismic warning
Mauna laa Hawaii finally we come to
Mauna laa in Hawaii which is considered
the world's largest active volcano
although kilaa tends to receive more
attention due to its recent eruptions
Mauna Loa holds the distinction of being
the most dangerous volcano on the
Pacific island in late November 2022
Mauna Loa showed signs of renewed
activity with lava breaking to the
Caldera surface for the first time in 38
years this eruption resulted in the flow
of approximately 250 million cubic M of
lava reaching a distance of up to 12 Mi
while there were concerns initially
about the potential lava flows blocking
the busy Daniel kanaway Highway they
stopped a mile and a half short of the
road Hawaiian volcanoes in general
produce slow moving lava flows that can
destroy homes the main concerns for
scientists are possible earthquakes and
tsunamis triggered by unusually large
eruptions Hawaiian volcanoes tend to
produce large creeping masses of hot
lava in numerous fissures in the late
emitting sulfur gases in some cases the
unpredictable nature and long lifespan
of volcanoes make their story spread
from Legends to breaking news among the
161 volcanoes cataloged by the US
geological Sur survey the ones mentioned
in this video are the ones to watch out
for due to their potential danger these
Majestic yet formidable Peaks can
quickly reshape their image in the
surrounding landscape it's essential to
appreciate them while also staying
informed about the latest warnings and
taking necessary precautions when the
time comes it's crucial to evacuate and
move away from these volcanoes as far as
possible United States is home to
several dangerous volcanoes that could
potentially erupt by 2025 kilaa Mount St
Helens Long Valley Cera Mount rineer
redout volcano Yellowstone super volcano
and Mauna Loa all pose varying degrees
of threat what do you think of these
volcanoes let us know in the comments
