Good morning, everybody.
So we are back in Alabama Hills.
We actually, we only came out here because Nissan actually hired us to like, be actors
for this project.
We're like, working with Nissan and Nismo, trying out a bunch of their overlanding gear.
Action.
So first up, I guess we'll start with the off-road bedrack.
I see you.
Yeah, I got the crew.
Nice.
Thanks, guys.
That's a wrap.
And now we figured since we're out here, we might as well make a little climbing trip
out of it.
So we're starting here in Alabama Hills, going to do some climbing with a buddy, Ryan, who
we actually just met on set.
Hello.
You were, what, assistant camera on the shoot?
Yeah, AC and B cam for...
The guy has good taste in cameras too, so.
Oh, yeah.
He said he'd never been climbing outside before, so we're like, eh, we'll take you climbing.
And then, yeah, we're going to make our way towards Bishop and slowly make our way towards
Tahoe, but just trying to stop in all the cool climbing areas the whole way, so.
Yeah, today we're going to start here, see how Ryan does, and then, I don't know.
It's going to be raining tomorrow, so we'll probably take a day off and then make our
way to some of the other crags, so.
I'm just looking forward to being out of the snow, get away from the snowboarding for a
little bit, and finally get back into climbing, so it should be fun.
Hell yeah, Ryan, how are you feeling?
Feeling good.
Woo!
First outdoor climb.
Love taking people out for their first climb.
Watch your feet.
Yeah, get your feet.
There you go.
How was it, dude?
It was sick.
It was fun.
Were you feeling scared, or was it pretty chill?
A little bit scared coming down.
Yeah.
But...
Not going up, just coming down.
Yeah.
No, yeah, up is fine.
Hell yeah.
Cool.
Sick.
Dope.
You ready for another one?
Oh, yeah.
Hazel loves cragging.
She's a crag pup.
Well, it looks like the storm is blowing in.
You can see that it's snowing in the mountains right now, and it's getting windy, it's getting
cold, and this might be the last climb of the day.
And then I'll be ready for a nice chill session, because we've just been going non-stop for
like two weeks now.
So, yeah.
Don't think about me.
We're still here.
He's like, you're my best friend.
Oh my gosh.
So, so cute.
Alright, well, I'll see you guys.
Yeah, here.
Have fun.
Yeah, it was great to meet you as well.
It's snowing.
Supposed to go climbing tomorrow, but I don't think that's going to happen.
Oh.
You think we'll do some climbing tomorrow?
Totally.
Maybe some ice climbing.
Yeah, this is not exactly what we were expecting.
I thought like, I thought rain, but I didn't think like dumping snow.
Well, this is what it's been like in the basin for the past three days, is the forecast
doesn't say anything, and then it's just snowing the whole time.
Sick.
So, we've just been like hunkering down in the van for the past couple of days, because
it's just been raining, storming, it freaking snowed last night, it's freezing this morning,
so we're just kind of waiting out this little cold front that's coming through.
But, our friends showed up yesterday, and we convinced them to come with us to do a
climb, climbing trip.
Yeah, this is our climbing trip.
And, uh, they're probably regretting their decision.
We brought the climbing gear.
We're just here because we like being with you.
Aw, see that's true friends right there.
Climbing comes second.
We might, uh, try to drive down to like a lower elevation and try to go climb down there,
but, it's cold.
And it might be wet in the gorge, so.
Yeah, did I say that we were in Owens?
In Bishop area, we're going to go climb in Owens River Gorge.
Hopefully that's the plan, this week.
It's supposed to warm up, we'll see.
It's supposed to warm up, but the forecast, the weather guys have been wrong.
Oh, it's on my to-do list, look at that.
Well, the good news is, looks like we're going to do some climbing today, so.
Pretty stoked about that, after like an inch or two of snow last night.
I think we're just so over the snow at this point.
Just want to be climbing, want to be warm.
Yeah, starting easy, and we'll see how we go from there.
It's been a long time since we sport climbed, so.
What's that?
Just out here climbing rocks.
Climbing on some rocks.
Wish I was on that side in the sun.
Leave it to us to come to Owens River Gorge and be stoked about finding a hand crack.
Like, that is not the reason you come here at all, but.
Hand crack up there.
It's not every day you get to climb a bolted hand crack, so.
Like when in Rome, put my gloves on and we'll try it out.
You know, like I almost fell on the slab.
Yeah.
But then once I got into the crack, I'm like, oh, I might fall up here too.
Oh, shoot.
I just want to say, I am having a great day today, and life is amazing.
Perfectly warm in the sun, hanging out with friends, finally doing some climbing again.
And, yeah, it's not snowing, so we are very happy to be here.
So, I would say like today is the first day, like the first kickoff of climbing season for us.
And it was amazing.
Yeah, we had a great day with Zoe and Kelby, and we're climbing well, so we're stoked.
But we didn't really eat anything today.
So, I'm making pad thai for dinner, which I haven't made in the van yet, but this is a staple in the Blue House.
I think Zoe and Kelby are making pad thai too, so we're having a little pad thai party tonight.
Alright, guys.
Bye.
So glad we got to hang out with you guys.
Yeah, glad we got to climb the gorge.
It was fun.
Drive safe.
Thanks for inviting us down here.
Bye, guys.
We might see you in a couple weeks.
Bye, buddy.
Yeah, we might see you guys in Moab.
We'll see you in Utah.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, some desert towers, some sick canyons.
I know you want to.
These guys are going to be in a Moab video soon.
They're going to be in the next like three videos of ours.
You guys will be in ours, we'll be in yours.
Yeah.
Good trade.
We should just name the channel Cody, Victoria, Zoe, Kelby, and Hazel.
I like it.
Katoria and Zelby.
Yeah, there you go.
Alright, let's go.
Alright, we got to go climbing.
Cool friends, have fun today.
Bye, guys.
This might be one of the coolest climbing areas I've ever seen.
Well, I think we have a plan.
We're just going to rope up and scramble up this little like kind of gully ramp thing
since the first pitch is just like soaking wet, so that's not going to happen.
But I think this is doable.
We just need to get up to that ledge system up there and then we can actually start to climb.
And hopefully that's not wet too.
Alright, going for the little free solo mission.
Yeah, exploration.
This isn't exactly the first pitch that we were wanting to climb,
but it will work, I think.
Alright, I mean, I'll play something.
Alright, I'm off.
Alright, climbing.
That took longer than expected, but now.
So far, not the classic we were hoping for, but I think it gets better now.
Now this is the official climb.
Looks fun.
Official.
So when we come back down, we'll wrap to this anchor and then we'll wrap down.
Yep.
Sweet.
Well, I might just run it out because it's pretty easy.
A number four.
Cody, you are on belay.
Victoria, I am climbing.
I'm just so stoked to be back to climbing season.
We're a little early, but it's just nice.
I hope I don't speak too soon, but the slab is like kind of grippy.
Well, going up what?
This will be the third pitch and I'm just now putting chalk on my hands.
I always forget.
Man, I'm really jealous of your pants.
Are they cool?
Yeah, they're so cool.
I don't know if I should go straight in on this freaking crack or what.
These flakes are kind of seeping.
Yeah, we're still a little early.
I mean, it just snowed two days ago.
It wouldn't be an adventure if it wasn't an adventure.
So the climb has been going really smooth so far.
And this is the last pitch of the climb.
So this is the hardest pitch.
Five, nine, and I get to lead it.
Clip! That's definitely my favorite pitch.
Even though it had liebacks, which I'm terrible at.
That was pretty good.
I wasn't expecting like all the slab.
Yeah.
But it was fun.
And yeah, it was just nice to get into multi-pitch.
It's still early season.
So trying to get our bearings nice and early.
And yeah, that way we can just climb all season long.
So now we've got like four repels to go down.
And then we need to go to the car so we can eat because I am hungry.
Good kickoff to the climbing season.
Yes, for sure.
Now I'm looking forward to getting after it.
So with that, let's wrap down this baby.
Look at us wrapping together.
Little roof here.
Little crisscross.
Another roof.
Three, two, go.
Look at us having fun.
