The CCP forbids Chinese to get out of the country, but they allowed border crossing videos to go viral on Tiktok. What's going on?

Over the last decade, a total of 15,000 Chinese migrants
crossed the southern border into the U.S. illegally
But in last year, 2023 alone, the
number jumped up to 37,000
And almost all of them mentioned TikTok
and other Chinese social media platforms
as their main source of information on learning
how to cross the border illegally
Oh, you learned on TikTok
They're able to do it all with information, maps
and advice readily available on Chinese social media
The post we found had step-by
-step instructions for hiring smugglers
and detailed directions to that hole we visited
The CCP controls everything in China,
including all social media platforms
So the real question is, why did the CCP promote
illegal immigration from China to the U.S.
when it's clearly against its own policies and the
public image the CCP tried to put up?
Well, I grew up in communist China, so maybe I could
help explain what is going on with the CCP

So Chinese immigrants, that's actually not a new topic
Mainland Chinese people have always been trying
to get out of China
whether to escape from the CCP or to get a better life
Other than the official legal channels
there are several illegal methods Chinese immigrants often
use to get to developed countries
such as overstaying visas, sham marriages
and crossing the border illegally
To get into the U.S., Chinese migrants
used to go through human smugglers
known as shuotou or snake heads and pay them a hefty fee
And the snakeheads would often smuggle
people in by the sea
so a lot of the illegal migrants from China used to come
into the U.S. through the east or west coastlines
In comparison, even though the southern border
route has existed for decades
it was not a preferred route by Chinese people
As I mentioned earlier, for 10 years,
the combined total of Chinese migrants
apprehended on the southern border was fewer than 15,000
But things took an interesting turn in the last two
years thanks to the power of social media
According to the U.S. Customs
and Border Protection's website
In 2021 fiscal year, 450 Chinese
migrants crossed the southern border
In 2022, the number increased to 2176
and in 2023, it jumped to 24,000
And we're only halfway into 2024 fiscal year
The number has already surpassed the previous fiscal year
That's because the southern border crossing route was being
promoted on Chinese social medias, especially Douyin
Douyin is the original Chinese version of
TikTok created by the same company
It has over 700 million active users in China
It's more than twice the population of the entire U.S.
Around 2022, the topic of crossing through the southern U.S.
border became super trendy on Chinese social media
You can find endless videos of people documenting their
own journey and giving instructions on Douyin
And once someone watches one single video on this topic
they will constantly be fed with more
related content thanks to the algorithm
That's when people realize, oh, other than the legal
and illegal ways to get into America
which are both expensive, it's also possible
to walk through the southern border
and it costs a lot less than what they
would have to pay to the snakeheads
These videos often make this dangerous route seem easy
and it usually ends with someone cheering on
the U.S. side of the fence
Soon, these videos' comment sections were flooded with
discussions and people asking for more information
And these comments were often replied with a link, sending
them to a private WeChat or Telegram group
where they can pay to get more detailed information
This went on for more than a year,
until two months ago in February
multiple Western media reported on the surge of
illegal Chinese migrants at the southern border
And soon, all videos on this topic
on Douyin were completely deleted
The company did not respond to Reuters' requests for
comment on the role of their websites
in encouraging the increase in irregular migration
If we look at this issue from the perspective of
Douyin's company, I think it's just all about money
They probably allowed these videos to exist on
the platform because they're hot, they're trendy
and they help to bring in a lot of views
And then they deleted the videos because they
don't want to be in trouble
So could it be that these videos
just slipped through the crack
and the CCP didn't notice this trend and didn't notice
the videos until the Western media exposed them?
If you think that's a possibility, you probably
underestimated the amount of manpower and money
the CCP has put into the internet police force
I mentioned before in a previous video that when the CCP
wanted to cover up a massive fire in Guizhou province
the internet police traced down a single video
and a post to their respective uploaders
They went to their homes, threatened these people,
and forced them to delete their posts
In China, the CCP has absolute power over all companies,
and that includes media and all social media companies
And they're fully capable of monitoring every single post
and comment that exists on Chinese internet
If the CCP doesn't want something on
the internet, they will be deleted
That's what the internet police were paid to do
And if the CCP doesn't want certain keywords to be trendy, you
will not be able to search the term at all
and none of the posts will ever make it to
the trendy list and be seen by more people
In fact, some of the Chinese migrants who crossed the southern border
were originally popular Chinese content creators themselves
They decided to escape China because they said
or wrote something the CCP didn't like
For example, this Chinese singer-songwriter goes by
the name Fengkuang Laozhang or Crazy Laozhang
He learned about the dark side of the CCP such as
the Tiananmen massacre and the live organ harvesting in 2015
And later he wrote a song called Wei or Surrounded
The lyrics were even very explicit
but people understood what he was trying to say
and the song resonated with them
So within seven hours, the song received 200,000 shares
And then it disappeared and Crazy Laozhang got into trouble
He knew he had to leave China with his entire family, so
he chose to cross the southern border in May last year
He's living in America now and he's free to
create songs without worrying about losing his life
So he published seven more anti-CCP songs
that he didn't dare to publish before
But what's interesting is he still got calls from China
directly threatening him to take down the songs
Another content creator's channel is called Dali Chu Qiji
which translates to Dali Brings Miracle
She's known for criticizing unfair politics in China
And as you might have guessed, she was
harassed and her husband lost his job
So she had to cross the border with
her family and her young daughter
The daughter once said to her, Mommy, I hope those bad
guys who came to catch you are all dead
If it's not for them, we wouldn't need to sleep in the mud
Ride those scary boats and be living this hard,
and dad wouldn't have lost his job
She replied to her daughter, those people are dead already
Even though they look alive, their souls were long dead
Another content creator is called Chen Shaotian
In 2021, he wrote an anti-CCP post on Twitter
And this single post led him to be jailed for 14 months
Since then, he's been planning on escaping China
And when he finally did, he documented his
entire journey and livestreamed whenever possible
And that made him more popular
And his videos became part of the hundreds and thousands
of border crossing videos uploaded on Chinese social media
And before these videos were taken down in February, each
of these videos had thousands and millions of views
So there's no way the CCP didn't notice the
trend or the existence of these videos
But they allowed it to happen. Why?
Does the CCP want Chinese people to get out? No
On May 10th, 2022
the CCP announced that they would apply strict border policies
to restrict Chinese citizens from leaving the country
And since then, many Chinese people have reported that
they're not able to get a new passport
or the government refused to renew their existing passports
This has been going on for more than two years
and is still like this in China now
The CCP is also notorious for taking away the passports
from Chinese dissidents to prevent them from escaping China
For example, the family members this man left behind in China
lost their passports and their chance to leave China
My parents are in their 70s, and they
took away their passports and IDs
My niece is 13 years old, a minor, and
they took away her passport and everything
Now restricting their movements
The CCP has persecuted many people who tried to escape
China but ended up deported from other countries
At the same time though, the CCP refused to
take back illegal Chinese migrants from the US
And internally, the CCP has always been trying to put up a
strong image and say the westerners are all praising China
and they're jealous of the Chinese economy
Yet they allow videos that's showing and instructing Chinese
people on how to cross the border illegally
just to get into the US to become trendy on social media
What is going on? Why did the
CCP contradict itself so much?
What exactly is the CCP's stance?
It's very easy to get confused by CCP's
behavior, but just remember one thing
Whatever the CCP's policies or actions are,
they only serve one purpose
and that is to maintain its totalitarian rule
Nothing else matters, therefore they can
be changed whenever necessary
For example, after the CCP took over China,
Mao encouraged everyone to have more children
Mao said that more people equals more power
In the early 50s, it was strictly
forbidden to have abortion in China
On the other hand, women who had given birth to 5
or more children were given the honorable mother title
and women with 10 or more children were
given the hero mother title in China
In 1982, the CCP pushed out the infamous one-child policy
And since then, countless forced
abortions, forced birth control
and murdering of perfectly healthy babies happened in China
until the CCP started allowing two
children per family in 2016
In 2021, the CCP increased that
to three children per family
and in 2023, a new policy allowed babies
born out of wedlock to be registered
Even after all of this, the birth rate in
China stayed low and it continued to decline
So the CCP is now pushing and forcing women to get pregnant
And the media says women should give birth
to 3 to 4 children now
That's just one example of how extreme and
how much CCP's policies can change
And another one is on the China-US relations
Before the CCP took over China, US is China's dear friend
And then the US became the evil American imperialism
And the Korean War is officially known
in China as Kangmei Yuanchao
or Resisting America and Assisting North Korea War
During this period, several anti-US
propaganda war films were produced
such as Battle of Shanganlin, and Chinese citizens
were taught to hate the US
until the CCP decided to get close to the US
So a movie depicting an American pilot falling in
love with a female CCP soldier was filmed
and the movie is called Lover's Grief Over the Yellow River
So depending on how much conflict was happening at
the moment between China and the US
the CCTV movie channel would play different films
For example, when the US increased importing tax on China
CCTV played Battle of Shanganlin
But then on the next day, the leaders had a phone call
and then CCTV switched to broadcasting Lover's
Grief Over the Yellow River
It changes constantly like a joke
And my last example is with COVID
China went from zero COVID policy
to completely opening up overnight
and that caused over 100 million Chinese people get
infected in a short amount of time
and a lot of them died as a result
There are way too many examples
of CCP's ever-changing policies
because ultimately the only thing that matters to
CCP is survival and staying in power
So maybe it's not too strange to see the
CCP forbid Chinese people from leaving the country
but at the same time promoting border crossing content
What do you think is the real reason that
the CCP allowed these border crossing videos
to exist and to get popular on TikTok
and other Chinese social media platforms?
Does the CCP want Chinese people to get out or not?
I'm curious to hear your thoughts
