Lương Thế Vinh is a talented mathematician with the nickname Trạng Lương, and he is also a philosopher of religious art and a political historian.
In today's video, we will learn about Lương Thế Vinh, a rare scientist in the history of Vietnamese science.
Nickname Thần Đồng, Trấn Sơn Nam
Lương Thế Vinh was born on August 1, 1941, on August 17, 1941, in a family of farmers in Cao Huong village, Thiên Bản district, Trấn Sơn Nam.
This is the highland village of Lien Bao commune, Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh province.
Since childhood, he has been famous for his extensive study, talent, self-knowledge, creativity in many games, as well as ways to catch many fish, catch many birds, being called Thần Đồng by the people nearby.
The people of Sơn Nam have two stories about him.
Legend has it that the Empress Dowager Ngô Thị Ngọc Giao, when giving birth to King Lê Thánh Tông, had a dream of ascending to heaven.
She saw the Emperor Sai Tiên Đồng ascend to the throne of Vietnam.
Tiên Đồng asked for another son to assist him.
The Emperor suggested an idea, but that idea was rejected.
The Emperor was angry, pressed hard on his shoulder, and forced him to accept the order.
After Lê Thánh Tông ascended to the throne, the Empress told the king a very strange dream.
At Khoa Thi Quý Mùi 1463, Lương Thế Vinh Do Trạng Nguyên.
At that time, the king saw his shoulder was cold, so he brought that story to the Empress.
The Empress called Lương Thế Vinh into the carriage, and saw that he was indeed the person she had dreamed of.
She was happy to tell the king, this is the person I was sent by the Emperor.
Since then, Lê Thánh Tông was very trustworthy, valued the talent of Lương Thế Vinh.
The second story was recorded in the book, which made the reader of Lê Quý Đôn more curious.
He thought that Lương Thế Vinh was a star shining from the sky to the South.
Along with the story of his birth, the people of Sơn Nam province also passed on many interesting stories about him.
In his daily study, Lương Thế Vinh showed that he was a person who knew how to combine very skillfully between playing and studying.
When he was studying, he focused on very high ideas, always wanted to practice what he had learned in life.
While having fun like fishing, fishing, flying a kite, Lương Thế Vinh always combined with studying.
When fishing, he used a fishing rod to calculate the desired length and height.
When fishing, he studied the life of animals, estimated the amount of animals, and then checked again.
Life also passed on the story of his election.
Recently, Lương Thế Vinh and Quách Đình Bảo are two well-known smart students of Sơn Nam province.
One day, when the exam was coming, Lương Thế Vinh went to Phúc Khê village next to Sơn Nam Hạ to visit Quách Đình Bảo.
The whole story is on the channel.
When he arrived at the village, he visited a restaurant.
Here, he heard that Quách Đình Bảo was in a bad mood at night, forgot to eat, forgot to sleep.
Surely this time, he had to stand with his head held high.
Lương Thế Vinh laughed and said,
When you get to the place where you still bow your head in the book, try to memorize a few more words.
That's also called learning.
I came to visit, but there was nothing to discuss.
So he left.
Quách Đình Bảo heard the story, got up, prepared a pillow, and went to Cao Huong to visit Lương Thế Vinh.
But the family said he was playing outside.
Quách Đình Bảo went out to find him.
According to legend, there was a time when the Minister of the Ministry of Finance was led by Chu Huy to our country.
King Le Thanh Tong sent Luong The Vinh to receive him.
The Minister of the Ministry of Finance, who heard the voice of the Minister of Vietnam,
was not only famous for literature, but also had a great knowledge of science.
So at that time, there was an elephant pulling wood under the river.
The Minister laughed.
Can you weigh how much that elephant weighs?
Luong The Vinh took a scale and went to the side of the river to weigh the elephant.
The Minister laughed.
It turned out that the weight of the elephant was only enough to weigh the tail of the elephant.
Luong The Vinh answered,
then divided the elephant into many parts to weigh.
He put the elephant on the boat.
The weight of the elephant will make the boat sink to a certain level.
He marked this water level.
Then replaced the elephant with small blocks of stone.
Then replaced the stone with a stone to make the boat sink to the marked level.
Then the number of elephants in this block is the same.
Just weigh each block of stone and add it up.
It will be the weight of the elephant.
The Minister of Finance still expressed his dissatisfaction,
so he wanted to make it difficult for Luong The Vinh.
The Minister tore out a piece of paper and asked him to calculate the thickness.
Once again, the Minister made the Minister's head turn upside down
because the solution was very quick and simple.
He borrowed the whole book of the Minister of Finance,
measured the thickness of the book,
then calculated the number of pages of the book
to take this line of paper and divide it by the number of pages.
The number is the thickness of a page of paper.
Later, he combined all this mathematical knowledge
into a book, which includes many long-word calculus,
written in Nome,
titled The French Calculus of the Great City.
Currently, there is a copy of The French Calculus of the Great City
by King Le Du Tong,
published in Vinh Thinh, 1705-1719.
In addition, the Nome Institute of Science still has two copies.
The latest book was published in 1944.
After a period of research,
the mathematician Alexei Volkov
used modern mathematical language
to interpret calculations in The French Calculus of the Great City.
Accordingly, in addition to the old school and the method of counting,
The French Calculus of the Great City includes calculations,
solutions, and numerical results.
The content of the calculations includes
X, Y, Z, area,
with the expected value of Pi is 3.1,
The book also has a part about land tax.
The end of the book talks about the problem of calculation,
the high degree of the tree when it knows the length of the sun.
The book also has some calculations in The French Calculus of the Great City.
Although there was such a great advance,
but for many reasons of social history,
modern Vietnamese mathematics
almost stopped with two episodes
of The French Calculus of the Great City of Luong The Vinh
and The French Calculus of Vu Huu.
In addition to being famous as a mathematician,
Luong The Vinh is also famous
as a researcher of religion, art,
with many valuable works such as
The Right Law,
The Theorem,
The Philosophy,
and The Philosophy of Buddhism.
He was appointed by King Lê Thánh Tông
with his wife Trung and Do Nhoan
Friendship with King Lê Thánh Tông
From day to dusk,
knowing the talent as well as the temperament of Luong The Vinh,
King Lê Thánh Tông took every opportunity
to mock and challenge this gentleman.
But Luong The Vinh also did not just
respond to his words,
he also showed his intelligence
and humor through each sentence.
So, a beautiful friendship
has passed the ceremony of coronation.
Once, King Lê Thánh Tông
went to Nam Sơn Hạ village
to visit Cao Huong village,
Vu Ban district,
the hometown of Luong The Vinh.
When the king came to visit the village pagoda,
the old monk Tùng Kinh
threw the fan down to the ground
and gave the signal to the little monk
to go down to the ground.
But a loyal official of King Lê Thánh Tông
rushed to help him.
King Lê Thánh Tông saw this
and immediately thought of a countermeasure as follows.
The way of Tùng Kinh,
he said,
this sentence in three words
made all officials
suffer and could not think of anything.
Luong The Vinh just let them think
and he drank
without saying a word.
King Lê Thánh Tông
returned to his title with the hope
of bringing him to Thế Bí.
How? King Trạng answered this sentence.
Trạng laughed.
It's okay to answer, but now is not the right time.
Later, Luong The Vinh
got drunk and called his wife
to ask for the king's permission
and then asked his wife to come back.
The king saw it immediately.
How? Can you deal with it or not?
Tell me and then come back.
Luong The Vinh pointed to his wife,
who was a little drunk.
The title was Phụ Phụ Phu,
which means in front of the wine cellar,
the wife was drinking wine.
In contrast, both the sentence and the sentence
made the king laugh
very much.
King Lê Thánh Tông knew that Luong The Vinh
was young, enthusiastic,
good at swimming,
so one day he played the boat,
his wife got drunk and pushed him
down the river, then continued
to let the boat go somewhere else.
Luong The Vinh fell down,
sank for a while,
then to an empty place,
swam to the shore,
then dived into the fog so that
no one could see.
The king waited forever,
a long time ago, Luong The Vinh
appeared, the king was both happy
and blameful.
The god below the water met the old man,
the old man asked the god what to do,
the god lied that he was bored to death.
Yesterday, the god
had met Hoài Vương and
Khoảnh Tương Vương, the invincible army,
just left the country, left the people,
sunk in the My Lạ river.
The person met the mighty army of Minh Đế,
why did he intend to destroy it?
Lê Thánh Tông heard it,
then rewarded Vàng Luộng.
In addition, during a conversation,
when the king told him that
he had many sons, Luong The Vinh
did not hesitate to say that
many sons are very few.
The king asked again,
the boat did not open,
there was only one anchor,
the king had many sons,
there was a lot of fighting for the anchor,
so he had to worry a lot.
Just as he predicted,
then the Lê family fought for the anchor,
hundreds of them drowned.
Only 30 years after Thánh Tông died,
Mạc Đăng Dùng had the opportunity
to take over Nhà Lê.
When it was not full,
Luong The Vinh, outside school,
still liked to row very much.
Any village that spoke against rowing
was the one he came to see.
Not only that, he also learned
how to play all kinds of instruments
to serve this art.
There was once a rowing performance
by Luong The Vinh.
This rowing group was famous
for having a beautiful daughter.
When it was time to perform,
of course, the person pulling the string
was sick, there was no replacement.
Luong The Vinh strongly asked
for a replacement string
and helped the group complete the performance.
According to the document
Luong The Vinh of the researcher
Bùi Văn Tam,
the publisher of Văn Hóa Dân Tộc,
after the performance,
Luong The Vinh was able to
repair the instrument
and the daughter
was able to live next to him
and row with him.
When Luong The Vinh
became the host of the performance,
he fell in love with Thi Lieu,
the daughter of a famous family
in Hang Dao street.
Luong The Vinh told her
that he would write a poem
with his parents in his hometown
to celebrate the 100th anniversary
of his marriage.
Luong The Vinh was so bored
that he wrote a letter to say goodbye.
After the competition
Luong The Vinh asked
someone to look for Dao
but he couldn't find her
and he had to pay the fee.
He agreed to marry
his teacher's daughter
on the day of the ceremony.
At this time,
people found Dao's group
and invited them to the party.
After the performance,
Dao confessed her sins
and left a powerful poem.
Luong The Vinh set up a temple
at the top of the village
to incense for her.
According to researcher Bui Van Tam,
the temple was located
at the corner of Cao Huong village
in the district of Nam Dinh province.
In addition, many people believe
that he wrote the poem
to remember her.
At the age of 50,
Luong The Vinh decided
to leave the temple
and return to his hometown.
After a lot of research,
scholars have confirmed
that he passed away on August 26,
the year of Binh Thinh,
which is October 2, 1496.
Le Thanh Tong was very sad
and wrote a poem
on behalf of the group
to remember him.
