July 10, 1939, a hot summer day.
Zhou Enlai, who came to Mao Zedong's mobile forum,
was asked by Mao Zedong to take him to the Central Party School for a speech.
Zhou Enlai accepted the task with a sense of honor.
But what was different was that this time he had an accomplice.
It was Mao Zedong's wife, Kang Qing.
Kang Qing, who was bored at home,
had to follow Zhou Enlai to the Central Party School.
Hello everyone, welcome to Red Cross Secrets.
I'm Mei Ling.
Zhou Enlai and Kang Qing's affair
is a subtle relationship that has been under the spotlight on the Chinese Communist Party's political stage.
Today, I will share with you the history of this affair,
and deeply explore the complicated conflict between the two.
According to the book,
on the way to the party school,
he had to cross the Yenhe River.
At that time, because the Yenhe River was flooded,
he could not drive.
So, one person chose to ride a horse.
Unexpectedly,
on the narrow road,
Kang Qing was riding a horse,
Zhou Enlai followed.
Suddenly,
Kang Qing stopped.
This action directly caused Zhou Enlai's horse to be frightened.
Retreating,
he pushed Zhou Enlai into the back of the horse.
Zhou Enlai fell on the stone cliff,
with a small cut on his lower arm.
It was painful.
When the guards arrived,
he climbed up from where he had fallen.
His face was pale,
cold sweat flowed down,
and blood seeped into his clothes.
But he did not say a word of condolence.
After Mao Zedong learned of this,
he was furious.
He blamed Kang Qing for being reckless.
He shouted loudly,
Who do you think you are?
Your 100 Kang Qing are not worth my Zhou Enlai.
But he did not ask in detail
why the two people would do such a thing on the road.
After the Cultural Revolution,
someone investigated this incident
and explained that Kang Qing was resentful of Zhou Enlai
and deliberately gave him a horse to frighten.
But the actual situation was not like this.
At that time, Kang Qing had just entered Mao Zedong's life.
He did not have enough power or motivation to hurt Zhou Enlai.
On the contrary,
facing Zhou Enlai, who appeared to be polite,
Kang Qing was full of respect and love for him.
This can be seen from his attitude towards Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai.
We will talk about this in detail later.
So the outside world speculated that
he wanted to show off his magic skills
and show off his skillful and broad wisdom
to give Zhou Enlai a good impression.
What is interesting is that
ordinary people only know that
the injury on Zhou Enlai's arm
was caused by falling off a horse during the war.
After Kang Qing's fall,
there are some memorable articles
that point to one of the reasons.
At that time, Kang Qing was competing with Zhou Enlai in riding.
Let's see who can ride faster.
As a result, Zhou Enlai's horse was frightened and fell.
But all the documents about the CCP leaders
had to go through a strict layer-by-layer review.
It is estimated that in the end,
the authorities still thought that
there was a sense of plot in the story
and thought it was harmful to the image of the prime minister.
Therefore, the last article
removed the competition in riding.
After careful consideration, it can be found that
Zhou Enlai fell from the back of the horse
and the injury was not light.
After he stood up with a fractured right arm,
Wei Shi rushed to catch up with him.
It can be seen that
these demonstrators were not around Zhou Enlai and Kang Qing at that time.
They were alone.
This is indeed a bit unclear.
In addition, if it is true that
Kang Qing stole the horse and flew away,
if Zhou Enlai did not steal the horse and followed closely,
how would he be affected by Kang Qing's horse
and the sudden movement of the horse?
Of course, Zhou Enlai, who had a guilty conscience,
could also see this girl's thoughts
There is no reason to blame Kang Qing.
On the one hand, Kang Qing is Mao Zedong's wife.
Although Kang Qing did not have any right to speak at that time,
but it is not ruled out that
Zhou Enlai, under daily observation,
has already predicted that
Kang Qing may play a significant role
Otherwise, Zhou Enlai would not have spent so much effort
to help Kang Qing and Mao Zedong get married.
On the other hand,
in the face of Kang Qing, who has some knowledge,
Zhou Enlai, who had a guilty conscience,
did not have any grudge,
and the possibility was not great.
However, Kang Qing's first love,
or the first love,
made people angry,
hurt each other,
and was really a bit regretful.
This is also like a prediction.
On the Chinese Communist Party's side,
what kind of painful price
will such a love bring?
Zhou Enlai is a victim.
From that time on,
Zhou Enlai's right arm
could not be used for the rest of his life.
Kang Qing, who came from Shanghai to Yan'an,
was only 25 years old at that time.
Before that,
his private life was also very chaotic,
but in the end,
he married Mao Zedong,
who was 21 years older than him.
Zhou Enlai, on the other hand,
had been to East Asia,
Western Europe,
and the Soviet Union.
He liked to read foreign novels,
and absorbed the open-mindedness of many foreigners.
This was very attractive
to Kang Qing,
according to the author,
Quan Yanche.
He once revealed to the staff
around Mao Zedong that
during the period of Yan'an,
Kang Qing had a deep affection for Zhou Enlai,
and expressed his obvious love for Zhou Enlai.
The Wei family of that year
also knew about this situation.
Mao Zedong's Wei family leader,
Li Enqiao, once said
that Kang Qing often
mentioned to people around him
his love for Zhou Enlai.
He praised Zhou Enlai for his elegance.
Kang Qing even hoped that
Mao Zedong could learn from Zhou Enlai
and change his rough nature as a peasant.
Of course, this move
also infuriated Mao Zedong.
In the book,
Memoirs of a Foreign Lady,
Kang Qing and I Translated,
Kang Qing also expressed
his love for Zhou Enlai
during his treatment in the Soviet Union.
One day,
Kang Qing suddenly asked
whether Kang Qing wanted to see Zhou Enlai.
Kang Qing, of course,
was in a hurry to seize this rare opportunity.
The next day,
Kang Qing and I took the medicine on time.
We found out that
Zhou Enlai was busy with other things
and had left early.
This is not to be underestimated.
Zhou Enlai was intentionally suspected,
so he met Kang Qing alone.
Zhou Enlai was grateful to Kang Qing
for his kindness.
Since he entered
the highest level of the CCP's life,
he regarded Zhou Enlai
as the most trustworthy
and most capable person
to help him solve the situation.
At first, when Kang Qing
just entered Mao Zedong's movement,
the CCP's senior officials
were almost ready to kill him
because Mao Zedong was a member of the Communist Party,
and Mao Zedong and his ex-wife,
He Zhizhen, had not yet divorced.
So many people don't want
Mao Zedong and Kang Qing to be together.
However,
there are also a small number of people
who support the combination of the two.
Among them are Zhou Enlai and Kang Qing.
Zhou Enlai,
in order to reconcile the forces of the party,
stood up for justice.
It can be seen that
Zhou Enlai's support
spurred the marriage of Mao and Kang.
In addition,
Kang also provided
an investigation from the special services system
to prove that Kang Qing
did not violate the law
and commit crimes
In August 1945,
Mao Zedong went to Chongqing for negotiations.
At this time,
Kang Qing first appeared publicly
as the first wife of the CCP.
In order to officially establish this identity,
Zhou Enlai held a grand wedding
for Mao Zedong and Kang Qing
at Zhang Zhizhong's residence.
Therefore,
although Mao Zedong's love history is more,
Kang Qing still firmly
sits in the position of Mrs. Mao.
However,
the crisis of Kang Qing
was not completely resolved at that time.
In 1947,
He Zizhen's daughter, Jiaojiao,
returned to China.
And in the winter of 1948,
He Zizhen's sister,
also Mao Zedong's younger brother,
Mao Zedan's fiancée,
He Yi,
found Mao Zedong
and asked to seek justice for his sister.
Mao Zedong agreed
to let He Zizhen return to him
and said
it was still according to Chinese tradition.
This made Kang Qing very nervous.
Because she agreed
that before the relationship
between Mao Zedong and He Zizhen
was officially resolved,
Kang Qing could not
live as Mao Zedong's wife.
Moreover,
Kang Qing also deeply felt
that she might be forced
to become a concubine
and even face
the threat of abandonment.
Therefore,
she told Zhou Enlai
about her situation.
Zhou Enlai again
reached out for help
and made a decision
not to allow He Zizhen to meet.
In addition,
Kang Qing's rise in the political arena
was not realized
by Mao Zedong's
one-man support.
The reason why Kang Qing
was able to gain
a prominent position
and replace
the Central Secretary Office
and even be promoted
to the Politburo,
is because
Zhou Enlai's influence
was the greatest.
It was because Zhou Enlai
could accurately
interpret Mao Zedong's intention
and thus steadily
push Kang Qing
to such a high position.
During the Cultural Revolution,
in order to maintain
her position,
Zhou Enlai
did her best
to unite with Kang Qing
and even
gave up her
personality.
Many times,
Zhou Enlai
almost became
Kang Qing's subordinate,
a loyal follower
and even a servant.
In the video
of the People's Liberation Army,
Wang Wingsheng,
in the political conference,
Kang Qing
was emotional
before the meeting
and claimed
that there were
serious problems
that needed to be solved
otherwise
there would be
big problems.

On 18 August 1966,
after Mao Zedong
met the Red Guards for the first time,
on the second day,
Zhou Enlai
made a big deal
in the People's Daily
to promote
Kang Qing's position
in the CCP's politics.
In August of the same year,
Chen Baida was hospitalized
The Central Committee
issued a special notice
and appointed Kang Qing
as the head of
the Central Committee's
Cultural Group.
Kang Qing became
the head of the group
on the second day
and hosted
Mao Zedong's second meeting
of the Red Guards.
In the afternoon
of 27 February 1968,
the Beijing People's Gymnasium
held a
100,000 people
anti-corruption meeting.
Zhou Enlai
praised Kang Qing
for her performance
after going through
the years of war.
She specifically mentioned
that when she joined the CCP
in the 1930s,
Kang Qing was persecuted
as if Kang Qing
had been
by the CCP
long ago.
She also
gave a warning
that Kang Qing
is no longer
the Kang Qing of the past.
On the evening
of 23 March 1968,
Zhou Enlai
praised Kang Qing
for her performance
in the Red Guards.
However,
before that,
Kang Qing
argued with Zhou Enlai
in the People's Hall
and accused
Zhou Enlai
of being
with Sun Weishe
and Cheng Huangg.
Not long after,
Zhou Enlai
was forced to
send her guard
Cheng Huanggong
to the learning class
until she died.
Sun Weishe
was Zhou Enlai's
stepdaughter.
In the Cultural Revolution,
she was sexually assaulted
by Kang Qing
many times.
It is said
that before and after
Sun Weishe's funeral,
Kang Qing
received a letter
from Sun Weishe
to Zhou Enlai.
In the letter,
Sun Weishe
hoped that
Mao Zedong
would immediately
stop Kang Qing's
political activities.
Kang Qing
took the letter
to Zhou Enlai
and accused Zhou Enlai
of indulging
Sun Weishe
in opposing the Cultural Revolution.
Zhou Enlai
didn't say a word
and silently
signed his own name
After Lin Biao died,
Mao Zedong
and Kang Qing
sent people to search his house
and found that
there were more than
200 letters
between Zhou Enlai
Among them,
Zhou Enlai's
loyalty to Lin Biao
was to the point
that it was disgusting.
Kang Qing
deliberately told Zhou Enlai
and asked how to deal with it.
Zhou Enlai
didn't say a word.
You can do whatever you want.
In order to show his kindness
to Zhou Enlai
and consolidate
Kang Qing
and Zhou Enlai's
alliance,
Kang Qing
ordered to
burn all the letters.
Zhou Enlai
thanked Kang Qing
and reported to Lin Biao.
He supported Kang Qing
even more.
However,
after the Cultural Revolution,
Kang Qing's
grudge against Zhou Enlai
deepened.
In the struggle for power,
he tried to pretend to be Zhou Enlai.
He only used
a useless piece of paper
to criticize
the old country's prime minister
You Hong
in the newspaper.
He deliberately added
the word
端起膊頭
on You Hong's image
to show Zhou Enlai's
bent arm.
We mentioned in the last question
that this bent arm
was actually
what Kang Qing
loved at that time.
It is said that
Zhou Enlai's
actions against Kang Qing
carried out
more intense counterattacks.
According to
the wife of Kee Teng Fui,
who also talked about
the red-knife state affairs,
in 1975,
Kang Qing
was attacked
for 4-5 months.
Although it was carried out
under the banner of Mao Zedong,
the situation was abnormal.
Therefore,
some people suspected
that a group of people in the party
dared to do this
because
there must be
someone behind it
and this person
was considered
to be Zhou Enlai.
The article also mentioned
that Zhou Enlai
frequently
talked to some people
and attracted
great attention,
so that
Kang Qing had to
order Wang Hongmin
to go to Changsha
to report to Mao Zedong
in case.
It can be seen
that there is no
eternal friend
Even two people
who used to
know each other
will also
separate.
