One of the best ways to learn about Thailand has to be through its museums.
And in Bangkok, the variety is endless.
So this week on iTips, I'm going to take you through the best of Bangkok museums, whether
you like art, culture, history, or something a little different.
For lovers of modern art, Bangkok has the Museum of Contemporary Art.
The venue is located a little out of central Bangkok, and the building it is housed in
is wow.
They have a big collection of art showcasing Thai history by some of the country's best
artists.
And the art is just amazing.
But a special mention must be made of the space.
It's bright, huge, and the perfect setting for such incredible local pieces.
The big city's bad boy is the Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre, or the BACC.
It displays a huge plethora of Thai contemporary art and culture, and it also includes music,
theatre, film, design, and education.
Okay, so I'm here at the Museum of Siam, which is in the same area as the Grand Palace.
But basically, it's a museum which looks at Thailand's history and culture in a really
modern and innovative way.
Now, it's set inside this most beautiful neoclassical mansion, but inside, there's lots of interactive
displays, there's really cool exhibitions, things that are really different and very
interesting to see.
So it's kind of hard to explain here on video, but all I can say to you is honestly, check
this place out.
It is worth it.
And now for the weird, the Forensic Museum.
This place is definitely not for the faint-hearted, and is not exactly pretty, but it is interesting.
The Sinister Museum is located inside the Siriraj Hospital, and is for the travellers
who want to experience something extremely unusual.
And then there is the Museum of Counterfeit Goods.
Now this is like strolling through the markets, but here, you have a collection of what Thailand
is great at counterfeiting.
Almost everything.
There are piles of counterfeit goods like clothing, and even baby milk formula, that
are displayed at this museum after appearing in court throughout the years.
Many of the goods are also placed next to the original for some good old spotting the
difference.
Welcome to Tillikeer Gibbons Museum of Counterfeit Goods.
We are open every Monday from 2pm in the afternoon, and every Thursday from 10am every morning.
And our museum houses a collection of counterfeit goods, all taken from market stores in Thailand.
And on behalf of our clients, we collect these counterfeit goods and we enforce their intellectual
property rights here in Thailand.
So as you can see, the variety is endless, and the history of Thailand is never ending.
So next time you come to Thailand, honestly, trust me and go to a museum because I promise
you will love it.
I'm Natalie, this is iTips, and I'll see you next time.
