Hello everyone! This time, we will explore Kyoto again.
This time we will visit Jisho-ji Temple in Higashiyama. It is commonly known as the "Silver Pavilion".
The starting point is at the foot of the approach lined with shops.
This is the Ginkakuji Bridge.
The path covered in bright green over there is the path of philosophy.
To go to Nanzen-ji Temple or Eikando Temple, it is recommended to walk along the Path of Philosophy.
Walk westward along the path leading to Ginkakuji Temple.
There are quaint shops lining both sides of the street.
There is a strong impression that there are many foreign tourists and students.
The main gate of Ginkaku-ji temple is about 250 meters away.
Let me introduce you to Ginkaku-ji Temple.
The official name of Ginkaku-ji is called "Jisho-ji," and it is a Rinzai Zen temple located in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City.
The mountain name is Higashiyama, and the main deity is Shakyamuni Buddha.
Established by the 8th shogun of the Ashikaga shogunate, Ashikaga Yoshimasa.
As part of the cultural assets of the ancient capital Kyoto, it is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Ginkakuji, famous for not being silver, is built inside the precincts of Ginkakuji Temple.
While the "Golden Pavilion" in Higashiyama is literally a building covered in gold leaf, the "Silver Pavilion" does not have any silver leaf applied, nor are there any traces of it being applied.
Originally, it was planned to apply silver leaf as the name suggests, but it was not possible due to the financial situation of the shogunate.
It was planned to apply silver foil, but before that, Yoshiyoshi passed away.
It seems that there is a theory that suggests that.
There was a theory that initially it was covered with silver but it peeled off, but it was revealed in a 2007 survey that silver foil had not been attached since the founding.
Now, we have arrived at Ginkaku-ji Temple.
Passing through this main gate, you will proceed to the reception desk.
I could see it right away. That's the "Silver Pavilion" over there.
Beautifully landscaped gardens are also beautiful.
The fresh green color is very vivid, isn't it? ✨
It's a very natural place.
Let's explore the walking route to the high ground.
Well, now that we have walked around, let's head towards the exit.
This is a souvenir shop. Let's take a quick look inside.
It looks like you can also sit and take a rest here.
Well, it's about time to wrap up this walk too.
Did you enjoy strolling around Ginkaku-ji Temple covered in fresh greenery?
We look forward to receiving your comments and requests!
Thank you for watching until the end.
Have a good trip, everyone.
