Have Arsenal found the midfielder they've been looking for?
Have they found the midfielder to follow on with Declan Rice and
transform Arsenal's midfield and take them to higher heights?
Have they found the right partner for Declan Rice?
Have you forgiven this particular midfielder, I may ask Arsenal fans?
Yes, of course, I'm talking about Newcastle's Bruno Gamares,
the man who should have been sent off against us,
the man who, when he signed for Newcastle, took shots at us.
Newspaper reports have linked Bruno Gamares with a move to Arsenal,
following on the previous links from January of 2022 when he was at Lyon.
Since being at Lyon, he's obviously joined Newcastle and become one of the best players
in his position at Newcastle. Speculation over his future remains.
Would he be a good signing for Arsenal? Would he be a good fit?
Does he have skills that could harness at Arsenal and help us?
What I'm asking you lot is what do you lot think?
Throughout the course of this video, let's delve straight into it and weigh up the pros
and cons and make our assessment. Let me know your initial thoughts.
As we know, the Brazilian international was a player that was linked with us two years ago.
Two years later, he's been linked with us again.
There's reportedly a £100m price tag on his head or the deal could at least go up there.
You'd imagine clubs interested in him will attempt to negotiate
shorter than that and try and obviously find a deal that fits their budget.
If we thought €33-45m which was initially reported when he was at Lyon was a lot,
then his price tag has quadrupled of sorts people. Mathematicians leave me alone.
First, I guess we should weigh up the pros and cons.
What I like about Bruno Gamares first and foremost is he has South American grit.
He's in a positive way. He's hot-headed. He has fire in his belly.
At a point in the Premier League, he ranked 12th for tackles. Declan Rice is 7th.
So could that be a dynamic duo and partnership that Mikel Arteta could use?
He could also free up Rice in the Roman eight-row or the more adventurous eight-row
as you've seen Declan Rice speak about it in comments much like the Athletic article recently
and also with what Mikel Arteta envisionalises for that personal individual people.
Could he help us create overloads all over the field?
Bruno Gamares has shown that he can play on the left of central midfield as much as right.
He's a hybrid midfielder, a multifunctional midfielder,
a bit like what we're seeing with Declan Rice people.
Then you go on to the age profile.
He's experienced. He's 26 turning 27 later this year.
Obviously, he plays for his country in Brazil and he's been able to deal with
the pressures of Newcastle as they attempt to break the monopoly
that the traditional top six have on the Premier League.
Also, he goes against the grain.
He's 26 turning 27, which shows he's entering his prime
and his prime years are just getting started,
which as much as I like Jorginho and Partey,
they're in their 30s and speculation over their futures remain.
In terms of being experienced, as we've seen with Mikel Arteta,
he's kind of not that he's a relationship coach,
he's a football coach,
but you're seeing him bang on about stability off the field
and you've seen a lot of Arsenal players start families
or settle down into relationships,
in which Bruno Gomarez ticks that as well.
So he's adaptable to life on and off the field,
as shown with obviously leaving South America and joining
Lyon in France and then going off to Newcastle
and big up Newcastle and the Newcastle fans,
but it's hardly the most illustrious kind of places
to join for someone going to live in England.
You'd forgive Bruno Gomarez for not wanting to stay in France
and maybe sign for Paris Saint-Germain
or sign for one of the London clubs.
He's been linked with Manchester City
and for what it's worth, people,
I think there's a big chance they could sign him and Paqueta.
He does fit our counter-pressing slash higher-pressing style.
He does it at Newcastle differently,
but the transferable skills are there.
He's durable, durability.
He's ever present in that Newcastle team.
He has a near faultless injury record,
which we can't say for every player at the football club.
As much as people don't like him at Arsenal,
he's a player that fans will quickly forgive
and fans will quickly fall in love with.
In the same way you only like someone like Benjamin White,
Trent Alexander-Arnold or Andy Robertson
if they play for your club.
I think Bruno Gomarez is of that as well.
I do think the temperament,
I would implore you guys to watch the Brazil versus England game,
the first 10 minutes to see how he copes with a high-press
or how a team doesn't let you out of your half.
And Mikel Arteta would love that.
He's known for his all-round midfield abilities.
He excels in both defensive and attacking aspects of the game.
He has a strong work rate.
He makes tackles.
He intercepts while he also initiates attacks
with his passing range and dribbling.
And as we've seen with the Declan Rice comments,
Mikel Arteta is not a fan of hitting diagonal balls or going long.
Bruno Gomarez has that in his locker,
but he's also great at playing short one-twos
and just keeping possession in a team.
In fact, he has the vision and the ability to read the game
and allow him to anticipate opposition movements
and provide key passes in that same breath to teammates.
I would describe him as a multifunctional midfielder,
but he is a right-footed central midfielder
who logically fits the rough profile of a deep-lying playmaker.
Once again, he's also active in his defensive work
and possesses a natural tendency to sense timings of opponent's people
that lends itself into winning possession in key midfield areas.
Diligent in his defensive duties,
effective in pressing opponents and good at recovering possession.
When his team is controlling possession,
you can often find him occupying advanced attacking midfield positions.
I know you lot love him, but keep letting me know your thoughts
because if it's up to me, we would get to sign him.
On the field, he shows resolute nature, people.
He shows resilience.
He shows leadership qualities.
He takes responsibility in crucial moments of the game.
He's a big game player.
He's one of, you know, typically he's a linebreaker.
In fact, typically in his team, he's one of the first players to break a line.
It's his job to move the ball from a controlled midfield position
into an offensive phase.
This means he frequently plays balls through interspace
between and beyond defensive markers,
which again, you cannot not like about the guy.
If there were any potential cons to his game,
the first would evidently be finances.
Now, a hundred million for one of the best central midfielders
in the Premier League.
We did it last year with Declan Rice and we haven't looked back.
But naturally, despite talk of his release clause
and all of these things, Manchester City and Arsenal,
regardless of where he ends up or even Paris Saint-Germain,
nobody is going to want to spend a hundred million.
So there's going to need to be an air of negotiation tactics from Newcastle.
And as much as Bruno Gomarez is, you know, an adopted Geordie,
he's one of the most loved players on and off the field at Newcastle.
You can see him on a regular basis in and around the town.
He really has adopted the Newcastle way of thinking.
And again, you've got one life to live, but would he,
you'd imagine he would have to kind of force a move away from his club.
If I'm completely honest, would he be prepared to do that?
In fact, on the topic of finances, you would imagine,
even if it is a hundred million, the variables,
the structure of the deal that Arsenal would probably be prepared to pay
will be or build up or create,
would probably be a far cry from what Newcastle are seeking.
In short, people, you'd imagine they want more upfront payments
or more tangible variables, really,
in which I don't deem Edu and Arteta will think are financially viable.
The sources that also link him seem to come from credible sources
and credible journalists.
But how far does that go?
There's a very big difference from having an admiration for a footballer
to going to go for it.
And again, it's not really his sort of game.
But if I did have to find a pro to his game,
I would say that, you know,
he doesn't really bring enough goals from midfield.
Now he does a lot more to counteract that.
And to be fair, Declan Rice wasn't known as a goal-scoring midfielder
and potentially couldn't, still wouldn't be described.
But when you see Declan Rice running into advanced areas,
popping up with some screamers,
obviously scoring set pieces from set pieces and making runs,
I guess there are some transferable skills that Bruno Guimaraes has.
I wouldn't say Bruno Guimaraes isn't athletic or isn't dynamic
because he definitely is.
But when you look at those third-man runs or those midfield runs from deep
or those advanced runs that Declan Rice has made at Arsenal,
made a bit of a mini career during the early stage of his Arsenal career,
will Bruno Guimaraes do that?
But you could counteract that and say he could unlock Declan Rice even more.
And again, he would act as a great passing main to have
two cultured midfielders, hybrid sixes and eights
that are comfortable in possession with Declan Rice,
with obviously in theory for this video, Bruno Guimaraes,
with David Rye's passing range and the other players in the round,
it would undoubtedly make us a better team.
And as much as we're on a path to success and things,
I am getting to that stage as an Arsenal fan where
a couple of these big money purchases,
especially if they work out like Declan Rice,
and to be fair, Kai Havertz at the moment,
I'm all for it.
In conclusion, people,
the midfielder is highly rated both within his football club
and the world of football.
I believe he provides a good mix of defensive solidity
and progressive forward passing
with tenacity and passion to match.
It's perhaps also notable, people,
that from his time at Lyon slash Newcastle,
he's ranked very high on statistics for pressing
and things of that nature.
Considering the kind of players Mikel Arteta likes
and seems to favour,
that seems to be music to his ears.
And once again, people, at 26 years of age,
turning 27,
I feel he's the type of game changer
Arsenal need to think about.
He did sign a new contract at Newcastle
in October of 2023,
which probably doesn't help his case
if he is wishing to depart.
But all in all,
if we were presented with the opportunity
to sign Bruno Guimaraes,
I think it's one that Arsenal should pursue
and should have turned down.
I do hope we've got alternatives
and Arsenal probably do
because I do think this is the summer
to really, really fix our midfield problems,
if I'm honest with you,
and take it to the next level.
Let me know your thoughts, people,
on what you think of Bruno Guimaraes
and how he would work out at Arsenal.
