Today I have my favourite colour combinations for Spring for you. Beautiful neutrals that always look chic and put together. I’ve prepared a lot of outfits to give you an inspiration for each colour category.
The reason I love the colour approach in creating an outfit is, because it’s so simple!! Instead of focusing on specific pieces and silhouette you pick the colour combination and then put the items together. It also triggers your creativity to style the clothes you already have in a different way.

For the reference I’m 170cm (5’6”) tall and usually wear a size 36/10 unless I’m wearing mens clothes which are either my husband’s (size XL) or thrifted in random sizes.

One of the most exciting elements of spring fashion to me is the color palette.
Hi, my name is Mariola and this is my channel Slow Down in Style
and in today's video I want to talk about spring colors.
Not all the colors, not the trendy colors, but the neutral colors that I personally really love
and when put together they always create chic, timeless and beautiful outfits.
I'll start with the colors that I wear the most.
The first category is all black.
I believe black works the best in spring and summer.
It feels much lighter, it's easier to style it so it's not overwhelming.
You can always show more skin, you can roll up your sleeves,
you can show your collarbones, your neckline and you add some jewelry, some lighter elements.
Plus there is more sun so your outfit doesn't look as gloomy and dark.
And there are a few ways I approach this color.
First one is all black.
So black top, black trousers or skirt, black accessories, so black belt, black bag
and with such outfit I always try to play with texture and dimension.
I add different materials, for example black leather jacket,
a cozy cashmere jumper on my shoulders, maybe linen or wool trousers, shiny shoes.
I think you know where I'm going with that so you add different textures.
So the outfit is more interesting, it's more three-dimensional, it's not as flat.
But I always have to accessorize this all black outfit with lots of jewelry.
Especially with all black I always feel like I'm allowed to do more
because it adds this shine and it contrasts really nicely with the black.
My second approach is to wear an all black outfit with a light element.
And it's really just an element.
So white shoes, white or beige, a beige bag and after all it's spring
so I want to add something lighter to the outfit.
Also if you feel like an all black is too much for you,
you can add with this all black t-shirt, trousers for example,
you can add a contrasting color trench coat or a blazer.
So it can be beige, it can be white, whatever you feel like, it can be grey.
Something lighter, something that really represents the spring, the sun
and something that goes so beautifully with black.
And I feel like it helps to bring the blackness even more.
It looks really intentional and very fashion forward.
Another one of my favorite color combinations,
and this time it is really a combination, is black and white.
This is so simple, so classic, so timeless.
I think usually we think about this pair of trousers or maybe a pair of jeans.
So what can I wear with that?
Maybe a blazer or maybe white shirt.
In this case you're only thinking about the colors and it really simplifies everything.
It also gives you a lot of outfit combinations, a lot of versatility
because you just need to go to your wardrobe and look for the colors you have in mind.
So let's get back to this black and white.
I always think about the trousers first.
So I'll start with black trousers and with that I can wear a white t-shirt,
black leather jacket or black blazer.
I can also do black trousers with black t-shirt and white blazer, for example,
or white button-down shirt.
Now when you turn things the other way around,
you can start with white trousers, so white linen trousers, white jeans.
You go up, you can add again white t-shirts to make it all white and very cohesive
and black leather jacket or black trench coat if you have one.
You can season such outfit with accessories.
So all white outfit with black belt, black shoes and a black shirt
or some kind of crop jacket on top.
Or maybe you can go for a black cardigan.
Another option that I tend to forget with black and white is white trousers or black trousers
and striped jumper, striped t-shirt, anything striped.
Striped cardigan.
I know usually stripes are done in navy but it's a very dark navy
so you can really cheat a little bit here.
Another option I really love, I don't have many such pieces in my wardrobe but patterns.
If you have a patterned jacket, blazer or maybe trousers,
my favourite is a puppy tooth, an All Saints blazer that I've had for years now.
I love this blazer.
It's more of a jacket because it's quite a heavy wool but it's so beautiful.
It's more like an off-white and black but if you pair this blazer with an all-white
or all-black or just mix a t-shirt and trousers in different colours,
you have such a nice classy outfit, a gold jewellery and it's really simple and so beautiful.
Now just by adding one extra colour to this black and white,
you get one of the most beautiful colour combinations for spring, in my opinion at least.
And it's beige.
So we have black, white and beige.
That's what I'm wearing today.
If you can see in the camera, I'm actually wearing navy trousers.
These are by the way my LilySilk trousers that I showed you in my previous video.
I really love them.
In all my colour combinations, I didn't mention navy and I want to address it quickly.
If I wanted to add navy, I would just have to repeat
the same combinations I have with black.
So that would make the video really long because everything I wear with black,
I would as well wear with navy.
It's so simple.
So if you don't have black, if you don't like black,
just take this colour combination and replace black with navy
and you can create every outfit that I talk about today.
You can do all navy because if you like navy,
naturally you will have more navy pieces than I do in my wardrobe.
You can do navy in white and I don't want to spoil,
but the other combinations I will be talking about.
Same here.
I really love this navy, white and beige in this outfit.
When I said this is one of the most beautiful colour combinations for spring,
I really meant it.
I love the subtle addition of beige in the outfit.
Well, sometimes it's not that subtle.
Sometimes it's a very noticeable piece like a trench coat.
That is the first thing you see.
So you can do exactly what I'm wearing today.
Black trousers, white t-shirt, a beige blazer or beige trench coat.
Again, you can turn things around and you wear white trousers,
whatever you have.
It can be silk, can be linen, it can be denim.
It really doesn't matter because you will achieve the same result
with different level of formality, of course.
I know crop trench coats have been really popular
and I love how light and quite formal they look,
but still very easy to wear.
I have a very similar jacket.
Well, I think it's similar, but it has a lot of hardware.
So it's not as minimalistic,
although the form is very simple and minimal.
But all I'm saying, you can swap your long trench coat
or formal blazer for a cropped beige jacket.
As you can see, so many options.
Just go to your wardrobe, think of the colours you're looking for
and I'm sure you're going to come up with outfits
that you haven't worn before.
And that's the beauty of this approach.
With such colour combinations,
don't forget to boost your outfit with your accessories.
Having in mind these three colours,
think about what shoes you're going to wear, what handbag.
You can add a scarf that goes with the colour palette.
Not too far from the previous colour combination
is something that I wanted to mention because it's very new to me,
but I know it's been very popular and it's brown.
In my case, very cool chocolate brown.
It adds this richness and especially combined with gold jewellery,
gold hardware maybe on your bag.
It looks so expensive.
It looks so luxurious.
It's much more serious, much more mature.
But still something you can wear daytime,
you can wear in spring because it's much lighter than black.
So it adds this earthy, natural colour.
I really love this combo of white jeans or white trousers in general,
a white or black t-shirt and brown blazer.
I would wear it with black accessories, black shoes, black handbag.
It really speaks to me.
Very nice, lovely outfit.
I feel like trench coat in darker brown instead of beige
would be a really interesting choice.
I think I'm really warming up to this colour very slowly.
I'm always very slow with trends,
but because it's so neutral and it's very timeless,
I know if I added some pieces to my wardrobe,
I would wear them for a long time.
I do wear a lot of white in spring
and I know many of you have the same urge
to add more and more white to your wardrobe
or maybe pull out from your wardrobe.
And there are certain colours I love wearing my white with.
I already mentioned black.
This is a given.
I love this combination.
But when it comes to something lighter,
there are two colours that are very easy to combine in my wardrobe
and create very lovely, chic outfits.
The first one is grey.
I know grey is not really a spring colour to most of you.
I feel like beige and more earthy colours
are considered to be more worn in spring,
but I already mentioned these colours.
But I think grey is very light and it is a lighter version of black.
Or you could also say that it's a darker version of white.
So it's somewhere in between, right?
That's why it looks so good with white.
So again, I'm coming back to my white trousers.
I would start such outfit with my trousers
because I really love them with grey tops.
Something like a light cashmere or merino wool jumper
or a cardigan, maybe combined with a white t-shirt or a tank top.
And to accentuate these colours together,
you can add a jumper on your shoulders,
a grey or white jumper on your shoulders.
It really doesn't matter.
Just to add some layers, something interesting.
And again, you can turn things around and start with grey trousers.
Grey trousers with white t-shirt and grey blazer.
That's a no-brainer.
Instead of that, you can go for a white shirt, for example,
a grey jumper on your shoulders, something more unexpected.
And again, think about your accessories,
what you can do to make this outfit more unique,
more layered, more interesting.
You can add a grey handbag.
If you have grey shoes or white shoes,
again, you can just go whichever colour you want.
Now, I'm going to be honest with you.
Very often with this colour combination,
I cheat a little bit and I add black,
usually in the form of a handbag, sometimes a belt,
just to add that black element
because I really like contrast in my outfit.
And if something is too matchy-matchy,
I feel like it just doesn't go with my personality,
with my colouring.
And the second colour I love pairing white with
is beige.
Again, this is a very natural combination,
very light, very sophisticated, I would say.
And it is relatively easy to put together.
I always struggle with shoes with such light combinations.
And I must say, this is where I can see some gaps in my wardrobe.
I know I need to add some beige shoes,
like ballet flats or very slim loafers.
I'm also really craving this colour in my footwear.
So this is something I will be adding to my wardrobe.
So for now, I have to play with my sneakers,
my black loafers or my off-white greyish loafers,
but they don't really do the job.
It's a really good trick when you want to wear white
and you feel a little bit intimidated
by too much white in one outfit.
Just add a beige trench coat, a blazer, a jacket,
anything like that in this nice light colour.
It will not dominate the outfit.
It will only add to the richness and luxury of this look,
of the whole vibe.
I just wanted to mention something quickly.
Many of you ask on my channel,
I can see questions on different channels,
on different posts, on Instagram, etc.
How do you keep your sleeves on your blazer up
so they stay up?
And this is funny because I don't really mind
when they fall down.
I like this, especially with oversized blazer,
I like this relaxed and nonchalant look.
But sometimes when I want to look more put together,
when it's warm enough,
I do like to push my sleeves up
and I prefer them to stay up.
And one way I use and I find very reliable is this.
You just push your sleeve up as you would normally
and you tuck only this part here.
Here.
You push it up and under like this.
It creates this uneven line
because if you just fold the whole sleeve,
it's too smooth.
Like this, it creates some texture.
It doesn't just slide down.
I would play with it a little bit more
to create a little bit more tension,
like more texture.
The last two color combinations are based on denim.
Blue denim.
So it can be denim jeans, denim jacket,
denim anything really.
And the first one is blue denim and white.
I feel like every spring jeans are trending.
It's nothing new,
but I feel like we all enjoy it in spring.
This really fresh combination of white and denim is just spot on.
My favorite would be a blue jeans and white shirt
or something that I can create now
because I have a lovely linen blazer,
a white t-shirt, white blazer and blue jeans.
This is so good.
Anything really that is still quite structured.
It has this tailored vibe to it,
so it's not too casual,
but you can also go for white trousers and white t-shirt, for example,
and a denim jacket.
That's also beautiful.
It's just that color combination.
However you put it together,
you can wear your white linen or cotton maxi dress
and denim jacket, for example.
And the second combination would be blue denim and black.
This is probably less common.
And I feel like very much understated,
overlooked and unappreciated.
I feel like this combination doesn't get as much attention as it deserves.
Comparing to blue denim and white,
it's very different.
It's more elegant.
It's more put together.
The white is more relaxed and spring-like.
Black and blue denim for me goes really well
or goes perfectly with gold jewelry.
It kind of brings these two colors together.
This is one of my favorite ways and very few ways to wear blue jeans.
So these are all my favorite neutral color combinations for spring.
Now you probably noticed I didn't mention any colors,
not even my favorite blue.
And that's because in my next video,
I will be talking about the ways to elevate your neutral wardrobe.
And as you can already guess,
colors will be one of them.
So see you in my next video.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this video
and you found something interesting.
I tried to show you as many outfits I possibly could.

I wanted the video to be informative but not chaotic.
