come on Cavs come on cows let's go welcome back folks another beautiful spring day we're going to get some more cows out onto some spring pasture be done feeding them after this we'll just have two little groups that we got to get out but this is the biggest group by far couple hundred head it's going to be really nice to have them out grazing and they're ready for it too come on come on we'll have these cows out on our spring pasture for about a month then we'll take him up to the for service permits up in the Black Hills usually around the first week first two weeks of June um we already had our meetings with the for service it's going to be the same dates as it us usually is so the first two weeks in June uh but the hills are way behind on moisture this year I think last time we talked with the for service it was at 50% of the moisture it usually gets for you know the time of the year we're at so 50% behind on moisture up there which means there'll probably be less grass less water hopefully we'll get some more the spring some more rains some nice May rains up there but down here I don't know how we're sitting on moisture but we didn't get near as much snow as we usually the last video we let him get paired up and we had to go back there was five calvs that ran back to the pasture they were in before and you can see all the Cals are running along the fence they want to go find their mom so we get the cows up there in the corner and hopefully they can find each other come on [Music] [Applause] come on go on over there go find your baby go find your babies find your babies come on find your babies she found hers good job Mama go some okay I think they'll calm down we'll come back P okay cows just want to graze which makes it hard your stomachs are full yeah they are but they're sing down so they laying down relax which is all good helps y yeah hopefully [Music] not hey baby hi what's for lunch well I haven't started lunch but I figured we could just good well we're going to eat these up then we going to get back to work well it has turned into kind of a cold wet miserable day it's windy super windy I think there's like 50 mph G 60 MPH gust but got to fix some fence we got a lot of fix fence to fix on some of our spring pasture we''ll been moving our cows around quite a bit um so we got a lot of pastures to go around so I just came up here to start on one of these the grass looks really good and we found a little deer shed sitting here kind of a nice nice little shed so we'll we'll add that to the collection and keep an eye out if there's any more up here but the main thing we're looking at is the Pence not deer antlers but yeah we better get to work and try not to get too cold out here the grass up here honestly looks really good there's a lot of new growth and a bunch of grass left over from last year so that's going to really be good feed for our cows when we turn them in here really happy to see all this grass so our home place is just right down there this is just just kind of the fingers where the Black Hills come down and turn into the Prairie so we've got some space up here that we graze in the spring and we do some grazing up here in the fall as well keep some cows up here in the winter um but it's really good really good spring pasture kind of some cool season grasses up here but so far the fence has looked really good I've got probably five pastures up here to go around and we're going to turn some cows in here tomorrow I believe so yeah I think tomorrow so [Music] [Music] I got all the fence fixed up over where I was fixing it yesterday um today we're going to move those cows up there so just came we're going to move these this group that we've got right in this pasture here got to bring them under the interstate and under the highway which is always interesting with the Cals it being their first time going through the tunnel so could be a little bit of a rodeo we'll see it's usually a lot of fun go on so Jock's going to ride the bottom down there bring those cows up and we got a bunch spread up out here on top that I'll get and we'll just meet at the gate hopefully if things go and hold him there let him get paired up the cows can find their calves otherwise we'll have calvs running way back to where they last saw their mom which is a long ways away and that's pretty
