NBA All-Time Player Rankings: Top 10 Point Guards | Where Chris Paul ranks all-time among PGs
All-Time #NBArank: Stephen Curry tops list of greatest point guards Who's the greatest point guard of all time? If you're an NBA fan, this is a question you've heard, read or contemplated more than once. And while the consensus answer has been Magic Johnson for a while, certain members of the field may be catching him. With his combination of size, vision and passing accuracy, Johnson's table-setting was perhaps unparalleled. But since his retirement, the position has produced the greatest shooter of all time, a triple-double machine and a floor general who earned the nickname of Point God.

We are back with another podcast episode.
Today, we got a special episode for you guys.
And we got to do this episode just because of the time.
With a point guard like Chris Paul, you know,
finally wrapping up this potential finals run to a championship.
We need to really discuss and we need to really revise
our top 10 point guard list.
Where now, as Chris Paul seems to be headed towards the twilight years of his career,
where does he fall on this list?
Where do some of these other players fall?
All right, have we overranked some of these players?
Have we left some of these players at the top too long?
Have they been surpassed or supplanted by some of today's younger stars?
Today, we're going to get to the bottom of that.
We're going to come to you guys with the most authentic,
most up-to-date, and most honest top 10 point guard list in the NBA of all time.
And again, you know what?
Our list, we try to put as much thought and time into it.
We try to take the biases out of it with regards to nostalgia of the past.
And we try to reorder these things just simply based on sheer talent, greatness,
accomplishments on the court, team accomplishments,
and just your overall skill sets all together.
Longevity also plays a factor to it as well.
So again, hopefully you guys enjoy.

So we're going to go ahead and get to this list.
As always, we got to get to the drawing board.
And here is FYF Sports top 10 NBA point guards of all time revised.
This is the 2021 edition.
You will not find a more accurate list on the internet.
All right, when we go live tonight,
if you guys have any quarrels or qualms about this list,
that will be your time to take us to the task and ask us why, when,
and how we put some of the players that we did on this list.
All right, let's go ahead and get to the list.
At number 10 on our list, we have Russell Westbrook.
Russell Westbrook, zero NBA championships,
but he still had a stellar NBA career at 23 points per game.
Seven rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.8 steals.
2016, 2017 MVP, nine-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBA, two-time scoring champion.
Russell Westbrook is already inching closer to the top five of all time with this list.
Although it might be difficult for him to crack it,
he is a superstar scorer, rebounder, and playmaker
with possibly the highest motor of anyone on this list.
He might also be the most athletic and that gives him the edge he needs to be dominant,
but his efficiency and poor decision-making at times
prevents him from being mentioned with the top five point guards as it stands right now.
But at number 10, we have Russell Westbrook.
At number eight, we have Steve Nash.
Steve Nash, zero NBA championships, career stats of 14.3 points per game, three rebounds,
8.5 assists, multiple honors in the NBA.
He's a two-time MVP, eight-time NBA All-Star, seven-time All-NBA selection,
and he's also a Hall of Famer.
While it may seem shocking to place Steve Nash right here on this list,
you know what?
He's a better shooter than a lot of people in most people's top 10.
He's a better shooter than Kidd, and Paul has a wider range of passing.
Nash can be the entire offense on his own and can nail shots at a consistent percentage,
clipping close to 50, 40, 90 for career.
Steve Nash, without a doubt, is a top 10 NBA point guard of all time.
At number seven, we have Walt Frazier.
Walt Frazier has two NBA championships, amassing career stats of 18.9 points per game,
5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.9 steals.
He's multiple career accolades, seven-time NBA All-Star, six-time All-NBA selection,
seven-time All-Defensive selection, and he's a current Hall of Famer.
Walt Frazier was a New York legend and a phenom at the point guard position.
He brought flash, style, scoring, and dominance to the court for a position
that was heavily regarded back then.
Walt Frazier is a bonafide Hall of Fame favor and one of the most iconic players to grace the court.
He is one of the top 10 point guards of all time in the NBA,
currently standing on our list at number seven.
At number six on our list, we have John Stockton.
John Stockton, zero NBA championships, but John Stockton, for a career average,
13.1 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, 10.5 assists per game.
I mean, John Stockton was just a complete beast.
He was a 10-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection,
five-time All-Defensive team, and he's a Hall of Famer.
John Stockton might be the best assist man in NBA history.
He leads all players in assists and steals all time and is the ultimate maestro in the pick-and-roll.
John Stockton was also phenomenal with regards to shooting the ball and defending,
basically having no real weakness on the court.
If only he would have managed to win an NBA title or two,
then he might have fell into the top five on this list.
But he will have to settle for number six on this particular list.
But nonetheless, John Stockton is a top 10 NBA point guard of all time.
Chris Paul falls at number five on our list.
Chris Paul, zero NBA championships, although he did come close this year,
losing in the finals to the Milwaukee Bucks.
But Chris Paul has amassed career stats of 18.5 points per game,
four rebounds, 9.5 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.
He's a 10-time NBA All-Star, eight-time All-NBA selection,
2005-2006 Rookie of the Year, and a nine-time All-Defensive team selection.
Chris Paul is the perfect point guard and would be higher on this list
if he would have managed to capture that elusive NBA title.
He still has some time, but his days are increasingly numbered as he approaches 35 years old.
Paul could lock you down on one end and dominate the offensive end with scoring and passing.
The only knock on this game is basically his size, but he is made up for it
with sublime quickness and explosiveness with his handles.
Chris Paul is also dominant defensively, making nine All-Defensive team selections
and being a good leader on that end of the floor as well.
Chris Paul stands at number five all-time in the NBA with regards to point guards.
Oscar Robinson stands at number four on our list.
Oscar Robinson has won NBA championship career stats of 25.7 points per game,
seven and a half rebounds, nine and a half assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
Multiple honors in the NBA, 63-64 MVP, 12-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection.
He was the 1960-61 Rookie of the Year, and he currently stands as a Hall of Famer in the league.
Oscar Robinson is the original triple-double king and one of the best players
in NBA history regardless of position.
He filled up the stat sheet like no other in history except for Russell Westbrook
and did everything well on the floor.
His numbers and NBA final success gives him the nod as the fourth best point guard ever in the NBA.
Isaiah Thomas stands at number three on our list with two NBA championships,
19.2 points per game for a career, 3.6 rebounds, 9.3 assists, and 1.9 steals.
Multiple honors in the NBA, 89-90 Finals MVP, 12-time All-Star, 5-time All-NBA selection,
and he is a Hall of Famer superstar.
Isaiah Thomas is an exceptional leader and one of the most competitive forces
on the NBA court we have ever seen from a little man.
His scoring ability from the mid-range and desire to attack and finish around the basket
and his two NBA championships with one Finals MVP makes him
a top three point guard of all time in the NBA.
Magic Johnson stands at number two on our list with five NBA championships,
19.5 points per game for a career, 7.2 rebounds, 11.2 assists per game, and 1.9 steals.
He's a three-time NBA MVP, three-time Finals MVP, and a 12-time All-Star,
10-time All-NBA selection, and a Hall of Famer.
Magic Johnson is one of the best guards to ever grace the NBA court.
He was an oversized guard with perfect guarding skills, including dribbling and passing.
He was unstoppable on the break and was one of the very best players in the league
during each of his five NBA championship rings.
Magic sits at number two on this list thanks to his accomplishments
and groundbreaking skill sets as a big point guard in the NBA.
Steph Curry with three NBA championships, 23.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds,
6.6 assists, 1.2 steals.
He's a two-time MVP, the only unanimous MVP in NBA history, a six-time All-Star,
a six-time All-NBA selection, to 2015 and 2016 scoring champ.
While Curry's career isn't over, it is safe to say he is the number one point guard of all time.
Since he became a superstar player and a two-time MVP, Curry has won
three NBA titles and has established himself as the best shooter in NBA history.
Such accomplishments cannot be ignored and the fact that he can possibly
capture another NBA title only supplants his position at number one.
We have Steph Curry as the greatest point guard in NBA history.
All right, and there we have it right there.
This is the FYF Sports top 10 NBA point guards in NBA history.
I know, especially at the top of our list, it's going to get a bit controversial,
us deciding to put Steph Curry over Magic Johnson.
If you want to know why and you want to get an understanding of some of the factors that we use
to put certain players in certain places on this list, make sure you join our live tonight,
right, and we can talk about it specifically, right?
We can get your thoughts on your list, what changes you would make,
who would you take off this list, maybe who would you add to this list?
All right, but we did a lot of research on this list and I feel like we've captured
the top 10 point guards and I think we've placed them correctly.
We currently have active players such as Russell Westbrook and Steph Curry who could potentially
move up this list, so our list is open for change, but as Steph Curry rounds out and
starts to head towards the end of his career, I expect him to just supplant his position at
number one. Players like Russell Westbrook, if he stays healthy, the only thing that he can really
do, especially if he can find a way to capture an NBA championship, is move up on this list.
He has all the accomplishments of a player such as Oscar Robertson, so again, I think our list,
we did our due diligence, we took the bias out of it. Whether we had a disdain for a certain player,
whether we liked their style of play or not, it's not about that, it's just about when you were on
the court, what did you get done, did you change the game, did you have an impact on the game,
did you have a major impact on your era? All of these things must be weighed evenly
when you're talking about some of the greatest players of all time and you're making the list
based on position, but again, let me know what you think about this list in the comments of the
video. Like I said, we'll also be going live and we go live tonight, it's going to be an open panel
discussion, all things open for discussion and if you want to chop it up about this list, we can
definitely do so, but this is the FYF Sports Top 10 Point Guard List. Hope you enjoyed it,
we'll be back with more sports and news later, but until then, it's FYF Sports, here we out.
