China will send two warships to Cambodia, where the US is gradually losing influence

The Chinese defense ministry said on May 9 that China would send two warships to Cambodia and East Timor between mid-May and mid-June.
According to Reuters, this move by China may make the US even more worried because of its increasing presence at Cambodia's Ream Naval Base.
China's Ministry of National Defense said that sending the two ships, Qijiguang and Jinggangshan, to Cambodia and East Timor was for joint exercises to enhance mutual trust.
Jinggangshan can transport helicopters, armored vehicles, boats, landing craft, and nearly 1,000 soldiers. Qijiguang is smaller but is China's most advanced military training ship.
