So what are you doing?
I'm grinding the salt so we can take it.
And we only have big salt pieces.
So I guess I'm gonna do this for the next few hours.
Yeah, it still really doesn't feel like we've left for good at all.
Yeah, it just feels like a long weekend trip we're doing now with lots of gear.
We are like 7 kilometers from Lofa,
which is only 40 kilometers from Salzburg.
But we're taking a break here and probably camping just up the road
because it is pouring, as you can see.
Yeah, and everything is wet.
The weather is actually getting a little bit nicer now.
Yeah, as you can see it's really bright.
There's still no sun, but of course it stopped raining and it's getting a bit better.
And yeah, we finished cooking now.
Simone just left again.
And they brought us beer.
And we got some beer.
So we just spent the first night on a world bicycle trip in a tent.
And I slept really good, but Luisa didn't sleep that well.
Alright, so day two.
And as you can see by the color, I bought a new rain jacket.
Yeah, my old one.
I noticed yesterday when it was pouring the whole day,
it was just not up for the task.
And I think it was a good decision.
This is like an ultralight cycling rain jacket.
Coffee.
Cheers.
We're searching for a camping spot right now.
And it's actually not so easy because it's a big street and mountains to the left and to the right.
We found a spot.
Yeah, right now we're just drying the tent or hoping it gets dry.
Because when we woke up this morning, it still rained.
And we're drying the sleeping bag.
Tobi's sleeping bag.
Because it's a bit wet, which is not good.
Yeah, just using the sun.
So where are we?
I don't know.
Somewhere near the Salzach in the Alps.
And on our way to St. Johann in the Pongau.
And we have a really nice view.
Already there.
Oh, that's nice.
Look at that.
Where are we?
In a hotel.
So our week in the hotel is almost over.
Which is good and bad because it was definitely nice being here for a week.
But there wasn't that much to do and after a week it kind of gets a bit boring.
So we're definitely really happy to keep cycling tomorrow.
Bye, have fun.
All good?
Yeah.
So we're now left on our second official start.
To begin with, we only cycled four days.
And now we're in a hotel for a week with my mom.
Because she invited us.
But now we left again for good, pretty much.
So this is the real start, if you want.
And it's definitely exciting.
And we're definitely a bit more nervous, kind of, I would say.
Than when we left the first time.
Because now it's like for real.
We're on our way to a lake right now.
Because it's really hot today.
Also really windy.
Which makes it okay.
But of course it's wind coming in front of us.
It's getting colder.
Help.
Okay, something's definitely wrong with Tobi's tire.
Because it's flat again.
And we're going to have to check it now.
And, yeah, going to change the inner tube.
So it looks like we found the problem.
Do you know why all my back tubes were disintegrating?
It's because this little part of the, I don't know how to say it in English,
the tape, the rim tape, was flipped over.
And it was creating a super sharp edge.
I don't know if you can see it.
But we glued the side of it, which was standing off or overlapping, back to the side.
And then we put some duct tape over it.
Just to smooth those edges.
And hopefully this will do until we completely replace the rim tape.
It's so windy again today.
And it's going downhill a bit.
And we're still struggling.
Frustrating.
But it's not long to go.
And tonight we have a warm shower.
We're on a tour right now to the Green Lake.
Great, now it's thundering.
With our hosts Simon and Amre and their kids Fridolin and Olivia.
And they went forth a bit.
Because we took a while for cooking.
And now the rain caught us.
And we're sitting it out under a tree.
Which might not be the best idea when it's starting to thunder now.
So what was a really, really nice day now ended.
Well, it's not over yet.
But it just took a really shitty turn.
Because my stupid back tire got flat again.
At least it was good for four days now.
We patched the original tire.
But as you can see here.
It's kind of like the patches we put on.
They don't seem to be able to expand as much as the tube itself can.
So it pops when you actually inflate it inside the relatively wide tire.
We have to hurry before it gets dark.
Okay, so we just left Simon and Amre's place.
Our first warm shower.
And it was just like I said yesterday already.
Really, really amazing.
We stayed two nights.
Because they invited us for a second night.
And yesterday we went on what turned out to be a really long bike tour.
With them and their kids.
And the little kid who's only six.
Little boy.
He rode 70 kilometers or even 75 kilometers almost all by himself.
And like 400 meters climb.
It was crazy.
Incredible, really.
Just no idea how that kid did that.
And we were gone for like 12 hours.
We came back at almost 10 p.m.
Okay, so we had the next flat tire I think at the cliff.
The fifth on the same tire.
And now I just went like three or four kilometers to the store.
And bought new, what's it called?
Rim tape.
New rim tape.
So we hopefully can fix the problem for good now.
Alright, so the rim tape is replaced.
I only have one blister here.
And one blister here.
From pumping it up again for the fifth time.
So now we got a larger, much larger inner tube.
Mountain bike inner tube.
Where the width rating begins with the width of my tire.
So now if we put a patch on it, the patch won't have to expand as much to fill out the inside of my tire.
So this will hopefully mean that I'll now be able to actually patch my tubes instead of having to replace them.
Which is just so annoying.
We're on our way out of Graz now.
Starting for the third time.
This time for real real.
Because now there's nothing holding us back.
As I got my second vaccination two days ago.
Finally.
Yeah, I didn't feel too good after the second vaccination.
Had a little bit of fever and stomach ache, headache.
Arm hurts, it's a bit swollen and everything.
Today is okay so far.
Only the arm is still a bit swollen.
And a bit painful but it's okay.
And we're going really slow today.
So yeah, it's not too exhausting for me.
So we're trying to reach our warm showers right now.
And she just lives like at the top of a hill.
Like at the very top.
It looks really beautiful but it's like, I don't know, 300 meters climb just to get to her place.
And it just keeps going up and up and up.
But we are almost there.
So we just crossed to Slovenia.
And it just feels really crazy to cycle into a country.
To know that we cycled through Austria and now reached our first different country.
Yeah, only by bike.
It's really awesome.
Awesome.
