Hi everyone and welcome to a quick video just showing what I had on board a Qantas 737 from
Melbourne to Sydney in business class. I filmed this before the renovations at Melbourne so I've
only included the actual plane content. Boarding was pretty good by Qantas standards with a priority
queue called separate loop. To use some cliches these 737s form the backbone and other workhorses
of the Qantas domestic network. They have like a million of these and my plane felt a thousand
years old. Nothing wrong with that though just shows the longevity of the platform.
Business class was laid out in three rows with a 2-2 configuration. There was a small head height
partition behind row three but it wasn't a complete wall like Virgin has on their 737s.
The seat was leather trimmed and Qantas claims a seat pitch of 37 inches and width of up to 22
inches. Legroom was fine especially for most domestic flights. Qantas does use the 737 for
some international short haul routes as well but make sure you check out all the flight options as
other airlines may have more comfortable aircraft up front. I was impressed that between the seats
there were USB and power ports for each person. The seat control buttons were on the center armrest
along with some old-school channel and volume controls that you don't see much anymore.
We were offered a pre-departure drink and I just had some water.
The little pop-down screen had some news playing but this plane had wi-fi and you could use the
Qantas entertainment portal on your mobile or tablet. Once we leveled off the crew brought
around lunch which was Korean spicy beef with soba noodles. Pretty decent for such a short flight.
However the Qantas experience struck again as my spoon wasn't clean and had this nasty dried on
stuff. Lunch was finished off with a chocolate and pear cake and we began our descent into Sydney.
Business class isn't necessary for this type of short flight but it's definitely a more
comfortable way to fly. Some people may find value in the extra Qantas status credits or
extra space to work during the flight but for me I'd probably save some money and fly economy
or Virgin or Rex business depending on cost and time.
A Qantas aircraft the next time you choose to fly. Thank you and welcome to Sydney.
