The long-rubered signing of Olivier Giroud to LAFC is finally here as the French international
arrives on a contract until 2025 as a designated player.
The 37-year-old striker arrives as the French men's national team all-time leading scorer.
Of course, he's a winner of the 2018 World Cup as well, but this guy wins everywhere
he goes.
He's won Ligue 1 in France.
He's won the Italian Serie A. He won multiple FA Cups in England with Arsenal and Chelsea.
He's won the Europa League.
He's won the Champions League.
This guy is a built winner.
Listen, it's not that crazy of news anymore when we see a World Cup winner arriving to
MLS and making Major League Soccer their league of choice.
This is just another player coming to MLS with so much quality.
He's so accomplished.
For LAFC, this makes them an instant contender.
The way that he's able to occupy center backs, set up plays in the final third, score plays
in the final third is massive for this team who hasn't had a center forward this season.
And I think this frees up Denny Buonga even more in the final third.
That's the reigning Golden Boot champion who gets chance after chance, but the way that
Giroud is also a creator, he can help set up more chances for Denny Buonga.
That's scary for the rest of the teams in the Western Conference.
But the most important thing about Olivier Giroud is he's a selfless player.
The way that he's played this game throughout his career, he'll do anything it takes to
win.
It reminds me a lot of the LAFC signing of Giorgio Chiellini two years ago that helped
lead them to back-to-back MLS cups.
He was a leader in the back.
I see Olivier Giroud as a leader in the front.
