James Comer issued a new subpoena for more Biden family bank records to further his impeachment inquiry. Meanwhile Hunter lost his appeal so his tax evasion and gun charge cases will proceed, with the IRS whistleblowers requesting the record be set straight that they are not the ones under investigation.
Hello all you freedom-loving people. Welcome to another episode of Front Page. I'm your host Scott Cameron Goulet.
President Trump and Biden are set to debate on June 27th without a live audience.
Hunter Biden's appeal has failed,
so he's set to go to trial on his tax charges and his gun charges despite efforts to deflect attention
toward the two whistleblowers who blew the tax case wide open. Jim Jordan and James Comer continue to pursue
contempt charges against Merrick Garland for refusing to turn over the tape recordings of
Special Counsel Robert Herr's interview with Joe Biden regarding his mishandling of classified documents.
James Comer is also pursuing financial records to support his impeachment of Biden, while Cory Mills is
seeking to impeach Biden for withholding offensive weapons aid to Israel. And
according to the Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines,
the Chinese Communist Party is growing increasingly confident in its ability to influence
elections in the United States and globally. Okay, let's get into it. On Wednesday, President Joe Biden and President Trump
accepted an invitation from CNN for a debate on June 27th without a live audience.
The CNN debate will take place in Atlanta, Georgia. Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will moderate CNN's June debate.
President Trump also accepted ABC News' invitation to participate in a debate on September 10th.
President Trump challenged Joe Biden to a third debate hosted by Fox News.
However, Joe Biden refused the invite to a third debate.
Biden campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon said in a statement,
President Biden made his terms clear for two one-on-one debates and Donald Trump accepted those terms. No more games.
No more chaos. No more debate about debates.
On Wednesday, Hunter Biden lost his bid to halt his tax evasion district court proceeding in California.
District Judge Mark Scarcey denied Hunter Biden's motion for a stay of proceedings in the U.S.
District Court for the Central District of California.
This was pending the outcome of his appeal. The stay had been requested on May 10th after Hunter Biden filed his
interlocutory appeal. Judge Scarcey wrote in his order because the panel's order moots Mr.
Biden's motion, the court grants the application to rule on shortened time and denies the motion.
Judge Scarcey's order stated that his prior orders and trial schedule would remain.
The court will hear any further requests to modify the pretrial schedule at a conference on May 29th.
Special counsel David Weiss, who was prosecuting the case, also opposed Hunter Biden's bid to halt proceedings.
Weiss argued that any problems with scheduling conflicts in both Hunter Biden's
California tax evasion case and his Delaware gun charges case are entirely of his own making.
Meanwhile, the IRS agents who blew the whistle on Weiss for protecting Hunter Biden are not under investigation.
However, those who allegedly retaliated against the whistleblowers are under investigation.
This shocking revelation came after court filings by Weiss,
which indicated that the whistleblowers conduct was the subject of a possible investigation. On
Tuesday, the legal team for IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler
sent a letter to the Department of Justice's Inspector General and to the Office of Professional Responsibility.
The two IRS whistleblowers requested them to investigate Weiss's office for falsely
suggesting to the public that some unnamed agency was investigating the conduct of the whistleblowers, when in fact,
it was the individuals who allegedly turned against the whistleblowers that are the target of the investigation.
Shapley and Ziegler's lawyers sent a five-page letter to the OSC, the U.S. Office of Special Counsel.
This is a separate office that is responsible for investigating
retaliation claims. It is not the same office as Weiss's special counsel office.
As the letter to the OSC stated, Weiss wrote in his filing that
IRS agents Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler have made
unsubstantiated claims that prosecutors' decision-making in this investigation
was infected by politics. The filing by Weiss
also included a partially redacted paragraph that references a potential ongoing investigation.
Special Counsel Weiss's legal team wrote in the filing that the potential
investigations could be frustrated, not served, if the public were allowed access to these materials in the midst of the potential
investigations. However, on Monday,
attorneys for the whistleblowers learned that the OSC
specifically requested that the government request the court seal the exhibits.
This was allegedly done to create the false impression that the whistleblowers were the ones under investigation for a potential wrongdoing.
The legal team for the whistleblowers asked the OSC to correct the record and to make it clear that the referenced
investigation was regarding the whistleblowers' claims of retaliation against them. To be clear,
there was no alleged misconduct by the whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler.
They also suggested that Weiss's efforts to generate a false public relations narrative were further
reprisal for their protected whistleblower disclosures. And
the special counsel's office misleading claim that Shapley and Ziegler were the ones under investigation
might affect more than just the whistleblowers. With the misleading court filing, the special counsel's office
potentially impacted the criminal case against Hunter Biden.
Most probably, this was done to bolster Hunter Biden's distracting claim that the government had done nothing about the whistleblowers alleged
misconduct. So, did Hunter Biden know of Weiss's trick, or was Hunter surprised by the revelations?
If he was surprised, then we could expect Hunter Biden's legal team to renew their attack on Weiss's team
based on their alleged prosecutorial misconduct.
Before I move on, I want to let you know about the new genetically modified purple tomatoes.
So, are these tomatoes really healthy or not?
We published this story on the Ganjing World Platform so that we could talk about it in more depth.
I'll leave the link in the description below. Please watch it there. Okay, let's get back into it.
President Joe Biden has asserted
executive privilege over the tapes of his two-day interview with special counsel Robert Herr.
These are tapes related to Joe Biden's alleged mishandling of classified information.
The tapes are central to a dispute between House Republicans and Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Garland defied a subpoena and today he faces contempt proceedings. In a May 15th letter to President Joe Biden,
Garland said that the committee's needs are plainly insufficient
to outweigh the effects that the production of the recordings would have on the integrity and
effectiveness of similar law enforcement investigations in the future. On May 16th,
Assistant Attorney General Carlos Felipe Uriarte asked Republican leaders not to continue contempt proceedings. On the same day,
President Biden's counsel accused House Republicans of wanting the tapes for political purposes.
President Biden's counsel Ed Sickle sent a separate letter to James Comer and Jim Jordan. Sickle wrote,
the absence of a legitimate need for the auto recordings lay bare your likely goal to chop them up,
distort them, and use them for partisan political purposes. Demanding such sensitive and
constitutionally protected law enforcement materials from the executive branch
because you want to manipulate them for potential political gain is
inappropriate. The move came just hours before the House Oversight Committee and the House Judiciary Committee were set to begin
marking up a resolution to hold Garland in contempt. The contempt proceedings are because Garland refused to hand over those tapes.
The committees issued their subpoena on February 27th. It required the Justice Department to provide notes,
audio files, video, and
transcripts from Herr's probe into President Joe Biden's
handling of classified documents before he was president.
The Justice Department has since responded by providing
transcripts of Herr's interviews with Biden and his biographer Mark Schwanitzer. Then today after a spirited debate,
members of the House Judiciary Committee voted 18 to 15 to approve a
resolution to hold Garland in contempt. This came despite President Joe Biden's intervention to block them from obtaining his
recorded interviews with Herr. Now we'll have to wait and see whether
Speaker Mike Johnson will bring this resolution to the floor.
On Thursday, James Comer announced a new legislative motion that aims to unveil financial information
related to the Biden family.
Today, this morning, I issued a subpoena
for targeted
financial information from a certain financial institution related to Jim Biden, Sarah Biden, and Hunter Biden. This is a result of
many of the documents that Devin Archer turned over. Remember, we subpoenaed and he turned over
3.7 million documents—documents never before been seen by any of the IRS investigators, the Securities and Exchange investigators, or any of the different
groups that have been investigating the Bidens for years and years and years, and we've been able to
connect some dots, we believe, that will finally
answer pretty much every question we've had about the source of these shady
transactions that went into the Biden family members and what role exactly Joe Biden played in that role. Comer explained what he is seeking in
his subpoena that he sent to a major bank.
We believe we found new accounts, and remember, the number of bank accounts that we've discovered
over the past year and a half, since I've had subpoena power, since the Republicans flipped the House, is
unbelievable. I mean, I don't think you would find very many people that have a
billion-dollar net worth that have as many different bank accounts as this Biden family had.
Many of these were shell companies, as you and I have discussed, Maria,
companies whose sole purpose was to launder the money that the Bidens were receiving from China, from Romania,
from Russia. And never one time, through the course of this entire investigation,
even during the depositions with Hunter Biden and the transcribed interview with Jim Biden, were they able to answer exactly what the family did
to receive this money. So we believe we found some more accounts that will answer some more questions, and hopefully
we can prepare to close this investigation and present our findings to the American people.
Comer once again recalled the bank accounts that are associated with Joe Biden.
With Joe Biden, well, that's been a harder nut to crack there. We found some accounts. We found some different
expenses and things like that that,
you know, that
coincided with some of the Hunter Biden LLCs and shell companies and things like that.
But at the end of the day, the Biden family were the ones that were
taking the initial wires and laundering them through. We found two specific checks that went from the
Biden family influence peddling to Joe Biden personally, one for $200,000 and one for $40,000.
So we've identified a quarter of a million dollars in direct payment that Joe Biden received from his family's shady influence peddling schemes.
As far as the son and the brother and the daughter-in-law and sister-in-law and all that,
you're talking about dozens of accounts,
dozens of LLCs, and
no answer yet as to what they did to receive this money.
I mean, it's just, I think Maria, the biggest public corruption scandal in our lifetimes and the fact that
so many in the mainstream media don't want to write about this. And remember, Tony Bobulinski
testified at our last hearing that what the money was from China was a bribe
from the government of China to the Biden family, that there was no legitimate business there.
So I think we found a lot of information. Hopefully this subpoena will be
some of the last bits of information that we have to have to be able to finalize this report and present it to the American people.
So far, the House committee has collected a lot of evidence for the Biden impeachment,
but the White House is not providing all the evidence needed, especially regarding Biden's alleged mishandling of the classified documents.
So how will the committee prove all of their claims?
Well, we're going to present the American people with a report, hopefully very soon, and there will be a lot of footnotes in this report.
There's a lot of hard evidence, bank statements, emails, sworn testimony. And remember Maria, I have given both
the president and the president's son an opportunity to come in front of Congress
and come in front of the House Oversight Committee and explain themselves. They know exactly what we
want. And with respect to Joe Biden, I understand he probably wouldn't want to go in front of the
House Oversight Committee. We sent him a letter with specific questions to give him an opportunity
to answer these questions. He has refused to do so. Merrick Garland has obstructed our investigation
time and time again. That's why today, later today, we plan, along with the House Judiciary
Committee, to hold Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress. I mean, we're serious about trying
to hold this administration and this family accountable for wrongdoing.
The new subpoena for financial information, which Comer hopes will answer all the questions that
Congress has, came just after another House Republican filed articles of impeachment last
week. Representative Cory Mills formally filed impeachment articles against President Biden
last Friday. This was over recent comments by President Biden about withholding offensive
weapons aid to Israel. Mills drew parallels to the House Democrats' first impeachment of President
Trump. According to the Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, the Chinese Communist
Party is growing increasingly confident in its ability to influence elections in the United
States and globally. Haines explained at a Senate hearing the foreign threats to 2024 elections
posed by the CCP. The CCP authorities have perfected their influence operation tools
through artificial intelligence and big data analytics. Haines noted that the global tactics
of the CCP include bankrolling candidates. They prefer using deepfake technologies to generate
content, collecting polling data to determine targets for them, and conducting social media
influence operations. She added that the armed forces of the CCP, known as the People's Liberation
Army, operate social media accounts on multiple social media platforms. During Wednesday's hearing,
Haines named China as among the most significant foreign actors who engage in foreign influence
activity directed at the United States in relation to our elections. Haines pointed out that Beijing
has continued to engage in efforts to promote politicians at all levels who are taking positions
favorable to China on key issues. Beijing has sought to target congressional candidates in
order to meddle in U.S. elections. Beijing also exerts influence on elections in Taiwan, Australia,
and Canada. The efforts of the CCP to sway election results in their favor were evident in January in
Taiwan. During the election season, AI-generated texts, videos, and audio clips swarmed the internet.
In one such clip, they distorted public talk by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party candidate
Lai Ching-Ti, who eventually won. The CCP made it appear that he praised his political opponents.
On YouTube and TikTok, the CCP also drove other false claims suggesting that the Democratic
Progressive Party, which is more critical of Beijing, had used special ink and ballot boxes
with secret openings to boost vote counts. In early May, a government commission on foreign
interference in Canada identified China as the most persistent and sophisticated foreign
interference threat to the country. In playing a long-term game to produce friendly policies for
Beijing, the CCP deploys incentives such as paid trips, business opportunities, prestigious
invitations, or political support. According to the commission's report, the CCP also uses
disincentives such as visa denials, harassment, and intimidation. They do this to retaliate against
anyone who refuses to align with their goals, whether they are in China or abroad. So with the
U.S. presidential election drawing near, concerns have been growing about the CCP's attempts to play
a role. Recently, Representative Raja Krishnamurthy, who is a ranking member of the Select Committee on
the CCP, also cited the CCP's use of deep fake content in Taiwan. Krishnamurthy said,
I think we would be naive that either the CCP or CCP-aligned actors would not attempt to use some
of this technology here in the U.S. Both President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken
expressed such concerns during their recent talks with Chinese officials. Blinken said in a media
interview in Beijing, we have seen, generally speaking, evidence of attempts to influence and
arguably interfere, and we want to make sure that that's cut off as quickly as possible.
After the U.S.-China summit in November of 2023, President Biden tried to reassure the public by
saying that he warned China's top communist leaders that he didn't expect any interference,
any at all. And that's a wrap for this episode. Thank you so much for your support of FrontPage.
