(Premier League 2023/2024): Highlights Arsenal - Luton Town

This game, noticeably unscathed, Arslan having a bit of the ball, can they create a clear-cut chance? Trossard has to come back with Townsend with him, good skill by Trossard, plays it in, Smith-Rowe didn't get hold of the shot, deflects and Kaminski makes the save. Nice wing play there from Trossard, classic, take the ball back on, check back and then a really sharp turn. Smith-Rowe did well, Udagard onto Havertz again looking for chance here, there's beautifully with Kai Havertz and Arsenal, they just needed that opportunity and they grabbed it. Yeah it all started with Smith-Rowe didn't it, working hard and winning the ball back in the midfield and then it's a really lovely one-two between Udagard, gives the ball to Havertz, gets it on the return and he's just got his head down, keeps his eye on the ball, tries to make the perfect strike and does, as we've seen so many times, that left foot when he gets his head at knee over the ball and he just drives it, it's almost a perfect strike every time. Yeah he took it well, you did feel David, if Arsenal got that little bit of time and space they would punish Luton. Yeah we see Smith-Rowe steals the ball in the midfield, gives it to Udagard, Havertz pulls off into a really good space and then look at the delivery back to him, it's head down, it's a really good strong powerful strike through the ball, Laces see it from this angle perfectly, beautiful strike, just caught it on the outside, takes it away from Kaminsky, waving to the sideline, Luton could ill afford another injury, Arsenal coming forwards, Gabriel, Partey, plays it back infield, Udagard, nice football, good save by Kaminsky, Nelson tries to get the rebound, it's good defending, Barkley under pressure, Luton will now get some treatment to their player, some heroic defending though, yeah it was an absolutely golden opportunity for Smith-Rowe wasn't it, it's a good strike but too direct, White's good skill, lovely skill, Arsenal coming forwards, Kai Havertz, good save, oh Ben White nearly got the rebound but Mengi clears, oh Mengi just gets there but another delightful bit of work from Ben White in the midfield, nice turn at the heart of the defence straight away, look at that, it turns into play, finds Nelson, Havertz first touch just lets him down slightly, still gets the strike on, Zinchenko, Trossard, plays it in, Doughty, there's a mistake, oh it rebounded off Partey I think, just worried of the goal, half a chance, Doughty again though in the thick of things but again Luton just going to sleep on their defending, he gets lucky doesn't he Doughty, Smith-Rowe in space has got time to pick up the pass and it's in, Arsenal, Smith-Rowe delayed it and Reece Nelson has bundled it in from close range, yeah you mentioned his last goal was quite a while ago but he comes in bundles it in, it's the two players who have come into the squad today into this starting lineup that have linked, it's a really good run again from Smith-Rowe into that space between central defender and fullback, I think it's Zinchenko that picks him out or Trossard on the run and he takes it right to the edge of the six yard box Tim, way too much space here we see, we see the run look into that space vacated by the defender just a bundle in from Reece Nelson but it's a good well-timed run from Nelson, he's still got to support Smith-Rowe as soon as he sees him get there look he's bolting across that box and gets his rewards, here's Nketiah bolted up for Trossard into Tomiyasu's opening up for him he shoots oh just wide Tomiyasu measured the shot here's Nketiah there is time for a third yet, shoots good angle and he forces a save from Kaminsky he's gone out for a corner it's quite a clever shot from Nketiah yeah he's tried to give the keeper the eyes as he looks like he's opened it out and going to go to Kaminsky's left and he tries to go in at the near post and Arsenal have done it then so Arsenal are top of the Premier League for at least 24 hours they've comfortably beaten Luton Town here two goals in the first half one from captain Martin Udagard a really good finish after linking up with Kai Havertz and the second was an own goal by Hashioka after very good work by Emil Smith-Rowe who was also involved in the first goal second half Arsenal just played within themselves very comfortable win routine victory top of the league for at least 24 hours Arsenal 2 Luton Town nil
