Well, it's the end of November in the middle of Spain and the weather is getting cooler and cooler.
We continue to keep our south-west cape in order to go to Portugal to spend part of the winter.
On the road to Madrid, we decide to stop at the famous medieval city of Toledo.
We park Falkor away from the center and set off to explore the city on foot.
We wander through these streets filled with magic, between cathedrals and crossroads.
They left in the corridors of time!
It's hard to walk uphill with an army on your back.
Ready for the crossroads!
The departure from Toledo is just as beautiful as its center.
We follow a road that brings us to a magnificent point of view.
And all of a sudden, we almost believe that we are in Bern, our Swiss capital.
Where is it?
In Toledo!
Toledo!
It's so beautiful Toledo!
Our road continues south-west.
We then improvise a visit to Victor's family, the former colleague of my brother's and my mother's restaurant.
After our week in a rather cool Madrid yurt, we are welcomed by the whole family of Victor in their sumptuous house that they built with their own hands.
A beautiful meeting as we love them.
Thanks to Rosy, Marie-Belle, Gregorio, Goro and the grandfather, we experience a total and spontaneous immersion in this Madrid family.
They share a piece of their experience with us.
And we all share great moments together by the fire,
cooking bediotas, kind of fleshy glands that eat each other grilled like chateys.
Hello my love cats, I am Natalia's double front camera.
Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel and follow us on Instagram.
Thank you very much, big kisses to all!
The next day, we go for a walk to explore the surrounding villages with Rosy and Marie-Belle.
Back for lunch, we share a last lunch with this wonderful and generous family.
They have to return to Madrid, but offer us to stay one more night at their house,
because the rain of the day does not really make us want to spend the day soaked.
We accept with great pleasure.
And here we are, alone in this house of people we only met one day before.
Little anecdote of the evening.
We just made two calls in Switzerland from Spain,
thinking that our subscription was unlimited for calls on fixes abroad.
And we just received that our account is blocked,
because we just spent 167 euros on a phone.
We never did that in our life.
Never in our life have we paid so much on the phone.
167 euros.
Well, it was worth it.
We were happy to talk to our parents, that was the main thing.
But we no longer risk making a lot of calls on fixes.
The next day, we left again.
And today we will beat our mileage record again in one day by driving 344 km.
We leave their property and take in a little of the place before returning to the road.
We make a quick stop in Caceres to visit this pretty medieval town.
And once again, we have the impression of going on a cruise in this impressive citadel.
With this brief but beautiful visit, we continue the road towards Merida.
There, we booked a night in a place that seems to have good vibes and that we look forward to discovering.
Merida, before being a city full of history,
is the place where we met Alfonso, Sandra and their wonderful family.
The current passes instantly and we then decide to spend a few days in their magnificent oasis.
They converted an old chenille into a place of peace and personal development,
in order to host workshops on environmental and well-being themes.
We propose to give a digital touch to their project by doing some jobs for their sites and social networks.
We are impressed with the way they have reconverted this place.
As such, we can really shape any place in our image.
We spend great moments with this magnificent family,
which once again generously opens up a part of their world and their daily life.
The following days, we also take the opportunity to explore the charming old town of Merida and its many Roman monuments.
The last night in Merida, we live a really cool evening that starts at the Casa Tierra,
a vegetarian coffee shop run by a Brazilian woman and spontaneously animated by musicians.
A great flamenco rock'n'roll evening in good company.
On the way back, Alfonso takes a shortcut and suddenly stops in the middle of a strange tunnel.
He then tells us to read the tag written on the wall.
Express yourself!
Under the tag, a hole containing a paint can that we take to express ourselves.
A really cool and original evening that we could never have imagined.
And that's it, it's already our last step in Spain.
As we told you at the beginning of the episode, the cold is getting more and more tenacious
and we are therefore looking for a place to land to spend part of the winter before continuing south.
On November 20, we contacted my uncle Francis because he kindly offered us
that if one day we passed through Portugal, we could stay in his house in the center of the country.
He then announces to us that the house is free and that we are welcome.
On November 25, we set sail and sail 300 km west.
The start of the road is idyllic.
It's sunny, it's hot and we pass through the Portuguese border without even realizing it.
But suddenly the weather changes and the storm begins.
We will drive almost 3 hours in a rain of madness.
We check that our Julupac waterproof bags are all good and not an ounce of water passes.
Reassured, we resume our road and a few kilometers before arriving at Uncle Avin's,
the sun comes back to gently dry us and welcome us.
Marie and Jean, my uncle's friends, are there to welcome us to this big house that we don't know.
The place is magnificent and we then offer my uncle to do some work for him
in exchange for this super generous welcome.
This drop point in the center of Portugal is really an incredible chance for us
because it will allow us to discover the center and the north of the region
without having to carry all our stuff.
And above all, no longer having to worry about finding accommodation every night.
This incredible stay, which will last 3 months, will allow us to write,
edit the latest episodes for YouTube, welcome other travelers,
give an interview for the Roadtrip Magazine and make lots of beautiful encounters.
In short, we look forward to sharing with you the rest of our adventures in Portugal.
But all this is another story.
