What's holding you back from getting social on social media? Whatever it is, it's time to get over it and take advantage of one of the best marketing platforms at your disposal. Today, I'm sharing three tips to get you started with social media as a new real estate agent.
Hey y'all, are you ready for video number six in my advice for brand new agents?
Let's talk about it. Hey everybody, it's Rosemary Lewis,
your Educated Agent with eXp Realty and I am,
I might be having too much fun with this advice to new agents. Listen,
so many of y'all asked me in my DMs on Instagram,
like what would you say to a new agent? And I really had to dig deep and say,
okay, Rosemary,
what would you have said to Rosemary back in 2017 when she was shaking in her
boots about every little thing? So if you,
this is the first video that you've caught,
you want to go ahead and check out the other five that I've put out with advice
that I would give brand new real estate agents.
But honestly it's good advice for all agents.
But let's get into part six. But before we get into it,
go ahead and subscribe to the channel.
Give your girl a thumbs up and share it with your real estate besties because
you know what? Sharon is Karen and we all need this info. All right,
let's talk about our topic for today.
So we have talked about all the things, right? We've talked about brokerages,
we've talked about knowing contracts,
we've talked about understanding money making activities and beyond.
So what is the next piece of advice that I would tell myself
or even you as a brand new agent?
This one y'all is you have to get social on social.
Now this is not the first time that I have said this. Okay. Um,
but you know what?
Sometimes you have to preach the same sermon a few times in order for somebody
to figure it out.
And I just want you all to know that in these United States where we live and
beyond in the year of 2022 of our Lord,
as which I am sharing this video,
we have been given a very unique gift that real estate agents did not have 10
years ago, didn't have 20 years ago. Um,
that a lot of us are on you under utilizing and that is the power of social
media. I get it. I know you are private.
You don't want nobody in your business. You don't need to do all that.
You don't need to say all that. Um, everything that you're saying,
you don't like to show up on video. You don't know what to type.
You don't wear cute clothes.
I know everything that's going in your head on why you're not social on social
media. I get it.
But I'm going to tell you that you are missing a heck of an opportunity in your
real estate business. So, you know, first of all,
you're watching me on a form of social media. So let's start there. Okay.
And what social media does is that it helps to increase our know,
like, and trust factor for the person on the other end of the,
of the phone who is watching us. Okay.
So the more information that you give them about yourself,
the more that you're able, they're able to interact with you,
your personality and understand that you're a professional that can help solve a
problem that they have. Like, understand that you're a problem solver.
You have somebody who's renting and wants to buy. That's a problem.
You have someone who wants to sell their house,
but does not know where to get started. That's a problem,
but you're the problem solver. And in this day and age, y'all,
we go and we look for proof. If someone,
I don't care if my mama recommends me to somebody,
that person likely is going to Google my name.
They're going to look to see if I exist. And in our world,
existing means that you have some sort of feed on social media and they are
going to decide from that feed if they're intrigued enough to actually respond
to the referral. So I know it can feel overwhelming and intimidating,
but I'm going to give you a couple of tips. Okay.
Here's the thing when you're getting social on social, first of all,
set your pages to not be private, make them public.
Stop breathing like that and stop looking at me like that. Okay.
I know that for some of you that was like so overwhelming.
It was overwhelming for me too. But here's the thing.
I cannot tell you how many people have been referred to me or they knew
something about me.
They somebody told them about a real estate agent and they were able to go onto
my social channels and get to know me if they weren't my friend and y'all,
I don't do a great job about accepting friend requests all the time.
Then they're not going to see anything and you want to make sure that they're
going to get to know you before you even open your mouth.
Now this is where you have control though,
because I know some people are like, I do not want to be private. You know,
it's not safe. Hey, you control the safety. And when I say that, you know,
turn your location off. Um, don't post your address.
If you don't want to post your kids faces or names or any of that,
you get to decide what you post,
but you can still be a consistent poster and a consistent communicator to the
person on the other end. So very first thing is turn it off of private.
Then here's the next thing. Um, do not overthink it.
I think that a lot of times, and I was the same way,
I overthought everything on social media.
I thought that everything had to be beautifully and perfectly curated that if I
didn't have some deep posts to put behind a picture that it wouldn't make sense
or I didn't know, um, you know how people will receive me. Let me tell you,
I put out a lot of great real estate content like on my pages,
but let me post about some chicken wings on sale at Costco,
my favorite movie or ask people, you know,
what their favorite type of margarita is that glorious.
I get so much engagement plus they get to know about me, right?
They can resonate with me to know that I'm a mom who shops at Costco.
I like to have kick back a little bit at brunch, you know,
or whatever else I'm going through. So just don't overthink it.
Like just find ways where in your everyday life you can communicate who you are,
what you believe in and what values you can breathe,
bring through your social media channels. All right.
And then here's the last one. You might want to get on video. Okay.
You, you, you, you might want to get on video. I know.
I've said this a million and 11 times to date.
I probably have 300 YouTube videos.
The first time I saw myself on video, I was mortified y'all.
I like literally saw myself on video,
hung up and called my mom and like gave her a thrashing because she never got me
speech therapy for my lips. Um, because you know what?
We are our own worst critics, but what video does like right now,
do I feel like your homegirl?
I was like, do you feel like you know me?
And if I wouldn't have stayed afraid and stayed thinking about the fact that I
didn't go to speech,
we wouldn't be having this conversation that we're having right now.
So video is powerful because it allows your potential clients to get to know you.
I recently had a situation where I was referred. Um,
it was another agent or agent that met me on video. So let me start there.
An agent that met me and she came in contact with me because she followed me on
Instagram and I did a lot of Instagram stories and she referred me to a client.
Right. And when I tell you when I met this young lady,
she was an absolute doll.
But the cutest thing to me was that she was able to tell me just random facts
about myself.
So we were at our house and um, I think I said something like, Oh,
it's chilly in here. And she was like, Oh, I know you like the air conditioned.
Cold. You know how she know that?
Because I did a post about like me and my husband have thermostat wars and she
like, I never met her before,
but she interacted with me enough that I did not have to go in there and beg for
the listing.
I didn't have to go out there in there and beat out anybody else because I was
the only choice because there was enough social proof of who I was and she knew
going in that I was going to be a good fit for her.
So new agents from the very beginning, I know you don't know it all.
I don't know it all either. But what I do know is that, you know,
if you are real smart, you have an iPhone. If not, you might have an Android.
Anywho, you have a video on your phone. Okay. You have a camera.
So you can just get on there, you know, share what you have at Starbucks,
what was for lunch. And Oh, by the way,
look at this beautiful house that is down the street. That's for sale.
Who is looking for a tour because I'm available tomorrow.
So these are just a few tips,
but I want you to just get out of your own head and use this beautiful gift of
social media that we have been gifted,
not to just sit and scroll and wish everybody's life was yours,
but to get into the rings and show everyone while you are a valuable asset to
them in their real estate journey. Okay. Okay.
Now,
if you made it to the end of this video and you are not subscribed to my channel,
listen, what are you doing with your life?
Go ahead and subscribe and share.
Why don't you share this video on your social media? How about that?
But go ahead, just hit share and put it on your social media.
Get social. Let everyone know. You know what? I'm a new agent,
but I'm out here getting this advice from my home girl.
And I will see you next week. We only have two more left.
Y'all next week for part seven of my advice for brand new real estate agents.
Bye.
