Hello! This lesson is about the cultural heritage of Ancient Thrace.
The Thracians left behind a rich cultural heritage,
which is expressed in written documents and archaeological monuments.
The archaeological discoveries allow us to learn a lot about life,
both of the aristocrats and of the ordinary population in Ancient Thrace.
At the borders of Bulgaria, excavations have been carried out on a series of Thracian settlements.
These are the cities of the time of Philip II,
Filippopolis, today the city of Plovdiv,
and Kabyle, near the present-day city of Jambol.
The Thracian city of Seftopolis is also well studied.
Remains of the royal palace,
the residence of rich citizens,
Today, only the city's planet is preserved,
and it is under the waters of Lake Koprinka,
near the city of Kazanlak.
The most remarkable monuments of Thracian culture
are the discovered royal tombs.
Many of them are located in the Kazanlak Valley.
The tomb of the ruler Seft III is also discovered and studied.
It is located near the city of Shipka.
There are found weapons, a golden wreath and a golden service,
used by the Thracian king.
A bronze head of the statue of Seft was also found in the tomb.
Another tomb, studied and preserved to this day,
is the Kazanlak Tomb,
which dates back to the end of the 4th century BC.
In it are found ancient wallpapers,
witnessing the ruins and morals of the ancient Thracians.
The tomb, discovered near the village of Svestari, is also well preserved.
It is decorated with sculptures of 10 female figures.
Both the Kazanlak and the Svestari tombs
are recognized as part of the world cultural heritage.
That is why they are located under the cover of UNESCO.
Part of the Thracian heritage are the golden and silver treasures,
discovered in various places in Bulgaria.
The oldest among them is the Valchitranskoe.
It consists of golden cups, cups and vases.
It is believed that the Valchitranskoe treasure
dates back to the 2nd millennium BC.
The Panagyur Golden Treasure includes 9 chests.
They are decorated with embossed figures,
depicting scenes from various myths.
The largest silver treasure,
including 165 chests,
The Thracians did not have their own writing,
but inscriptions in the Thracian language
with Greek letters were found,
and some geographical objects bear Thracian names.
These are the Rhodopes,
the Mesta, Vyt,
Struma, Tunja and Yantra rivers.
Through the centuries,
some of the ancient Thracian holidays and customs
have been preserved,
such as the Nestinar dance and the Cuckoo games.
The nestinars in Stranja mountain and the cuckoos in Perniško
are recognized by UNESCO
