LA Galaxy vs. FC Dallas - Full Match Highlights - May 29, 2024

Rio actually started this one in the holding midfield position. That is not to be confused. Brookman will probably step back into that maybe in build-up play. Still giving Ricky Pooch that freedom to roam. No, that's really important. This team needs continuity. They're struggling to get the results that they want. They'll come out in a back five. They're capable of switching to a back four if they need to by Urumendi. Overseeing his tenth match of the season. And there is the whistle from our referee to get us underway here inside of Dignity Health Sports Park. Despite difficult moments, they're able to bounce back and get something out of it. Oh, what a pass from Delgado. Cutting inside here is Peck. Jovolec and it's 1-0! An absolute masterpiece in transition. And Dejan Jovolec, inside of five minutes, has tallied his eighth of the year. It's 1-0 LA. Yes, there's a little slip up there. But the patience from Peck to slot that one over to Jovolec, who's able to set his feet, redirect that to the back post. Loose ball. The goal scorer, Jovolec, calls his own number. And then right into the gloves of Martin Paz. Skating away from pressure and into some open space. He's so dangerous. Peck inside the 18. Peck! And a big save from Martin Paz. The Dutch goalkeeper had to deny Peck or it's 2-0. Mariolo will keep it going wide. Early service in front. And we're tied at one. An absolute blister of a goal from Delgado. FC Dallas pulls up some players underneath. Ariola slots that one wide. And from a somewhat... Each team finding the back of the net inside the opening 25 minutes tonight. And we're off to a great start here in Southern California on match day 17. Ariola circling it back. Long distance, but no trouble really for McCarthy. This year is in contrast to last year. Good ball there for Jovolec. And a point to the spot. Martin Paz is going to try and argue this case. I don't know if it was held for the dramatics, but... Definitely gets there first. Tough to see if Paz puts any hands on him. Definitely on the foot. Tough to really... Steps over this to try and double the lead. Peck. The stutter step. Oh, big save from Paz. The follow-up. Another big save on the doorstep. There's shouts for offside. Just a great save there. Parries it left. And then to get his hands back on it. On the second one. Fagundes to serve it near post. Big save by Paz again. One more time the Dutch keeper comes up huge for FC Dallas. Commitment here to free himself up. Get around that back line. Redirects it perfectly. In the attacking half, both teams have been pretty successful at that when they've applied it. But neither team is really applying it for long phases. Jovelich to hand that one. And that's one of the more routine saves from Paz tonight. Delgado forward here for Musa. Step for step with Jalen Neal. Right into the gloves of John McCarthy who hasn't had a ton to do tonight. Delgado. Peck. Peck looking for the corner and Paz right there. To make sure there was no rebound on the doorstep because Jovelich was hovering close by. He's efficient with his runs and his movement. Dumasi. Running right into Aude. Somehow he'll get back up on his feet. Arreola with the shot. McCarthy, his biggest save tonight. And it leads to the first corner of the night for Dallas. Hooch. Ball through. Out in front. Galaxy with an opportunity. Bodies go flying. And a point to the spot for the second time tonight. They missed it in the first half. Jovelich and Fagundes going down in some intricate passing. And the Galaxy will once again have a chance to take a lead from the penalty spot. See just this flick on from Mark Delgado freeing up that space. See just swing of the leg from Ibiaga. Isn't it his own player that takes him down? No, you see there the left leg of Ibiaga takes down Fagundes. And so this time it's the first half goal scorer Dejan Jovelich to try and get the brace. And he does. Jovelich with his ninth of the year. L.A. in front at home. And it's attendance through the night. Jovelich steps up and brings a roar to the faithful here. Slotting that one home with confidence. Moussa timing the ball forward. Dumasi. Flag stays down for the moment. Dumasi! But a late flag will come up. It's Dumasi releasing from that right hand side. Just drifting offside just a tiny bit past that left foot of Miki Yamane. And he is going to see his second yellow card and that's going to be red. Only seeing the back of his jersey. Pack bending for the corner. Deflected ball will go wide to give the Galaxy their second, second half corner. Fifth corner of the night for L.A. Out in front. Big save. And up and over the top. Aude over there to defend. Perez coming in to help out too. Into the box. Out front for Sealy. Onto his left foot. Leaves it for Farreira. And the shot softly into the gloves of McCarthy. Sealy got to it there but he headed it right at Ricky Pooch. Out in transition. Pooch onto his left foot. Pooch! To his foot from start to finish. Look at him drive. Escape one defender. Breaks away. Cuts it inside. Keeps control. Releases it before anybody. Greg Vanney told us this is a maturing group. Heath Pierce. And they have found their way after they led F.C. Dallas back in the game. A brace on the night from the Serbian. That man Dejan Jovanovic.
