Welcome back folks to a brand new video. Now the Mediterranean spans across many different
countries and it's crammed full of beautiful hotspots that can be overwhelming to plan a trip.
So let's take a look at 25 beautiful places to visit in the Mediterranean.
Located on the northwest Sardinian coast, Algaro still has the remnants of its Catalan past.
Even Algariz is spoken at present by a small percentage of people.
But the city is well known for its historical center, wonderful monuments, many of the paved
alleyways. But undoubtedly Algaro is a very beautiful town, but to be honest if you do
visit in the summer it might get busy and crowded. But the town exhibits that striking gothic style
historical center. And right in the middle you'll see the Cathedral of Santa Maria.
But don't forget to go up Campanarli Beltao and enjoy the view.
Calchi is a small gem in the Dodecanese island group and it's located close to the far more busy
Rhodes island. Still untouched by mass tourism it's the perfect getaway for a relaxing holiday.
Now this has a few amazing beaches and its main village has that unique charm.
The bonuses is that Calchi is connected to Rhodes by a ferry, so it's very easy to visit on a day
trip. Don't forget Nymporio which is a quaint little village on the eastern side of Calchi
that boasts some of the best traditional architecture. The seafront village is
lined up with cafeterias, restaurants and shops and it's the best place to enjoy those long walks
by the sea at night. Even today there's an old medieval castle that's worth visiting
on a hill above Corio village. One not to be missed.
Now you can't miss visiting Valdemossa if you're heading to Mallorca, Spain.
It's a beautiful village set in the Trumantana mountains, full of charm and full of history.
So take a walk along the cobblestone streets and this is where you could admire stone houses all
decorated with bright flowers and it kind of makes it look like a picture from a postcard.
Or you can visit the royal charter house where the famous Polish musician Chopin once stayed
during one winter. But early morning is the best time to wander around the quiet streets and really
soak in the peaceful atmosphere. There's also delicious pastries which you can try from one of
the village bakeries but overall it has stunning views and a rich history, so Valdemossa is one
to put on your bucket list. Another great idea for a holiday on the Med is to visit Sheila
which is a stunningly located fishing village in the Calabria region
in the south of Italy on the toe of Italy's boot. And you'll see it's a rocky spur that's topped
with an ancient fortress separated by two narrow strips of seashore that's hemmed in by steep
hillsides. It is quite a sight to see and it's full of beautiful beaches, colorful terracotta
towns and a rich culinary heritage which is quite hard to understand as to why Calabria
doesn't get as much attention from us visitors as the other Italian locals. So I do think this
could be the most authentic destination out of all of them on this list. Now this is nestled
on the tranquil shores of Milos island in Greece, a coastal gem with a unique charm.
It's situated near the village of Plaka and Mandrakia is a stone's throw away from the
captivating Sarakiniko beach which you will see later on in this video but known for its
moon-like landscapes. Mandrakia's iconic boathouses are not just vibrant splashes against the sea
but it's a testament to the village's maritime history.
These traditional structures once held fishing boats and equipment but now offers a very
interesting backdrop for your holiday exploration. Away from the crowds and I highly recommend that
you visit. The next destination takes us to Montenegro and located right in the middle part
of the bay of Kotor adjacent to the narrow channel that opens out to the Adriatic.
Perast, a tiny hillside town sandwiched between the coast and the mountains. You'll see a single
main street that's overflowing with pretty architecture, crumbling bell towers and a
romantic seaside cafes. They say the best thing is to try this almond cake which is a local
speciality. Perast was established by the Venetians and it features grand marble palazzos
and picturesque churches. The 18th renaissance and baroque palaces along the seafront are literally
testimony to its glory days as a thriving port and the island's chapel is one of the most unique
churches that you'll ever visit. So it's just a 20-minute drive from Kotor but I literally
recommend that you stay here at one of the family-run guest houses in the hills for a couple of nights.
Chefchaouen. Now this is a beautiful city in the Rif mountains of northwest Morocco
and it's known for its striking blue wash buildings of its old town painted in a palette
of mesmerizing blue hues. You will also notice the ancient medina, the old quarter that offers
a thousand photo opportunities. The souks brim with undiscovered gems. The blue city's medina
is beautiful, peaceful and easy to explore but be very mindful and respectful of the locals when
taking photos. Along the maze-like medina streets you'll see artisans and crafts people selling a
variety of wares including beautiful hand-woven blankets, rugs, brass teapots and even colourful
pottery. But the best part is how easy it is. Browsing and shopping come with much less of a
One not to be missed. Now I was very reluctant to put this on the list because it's literally the
number one busy place for summer and it has been for quite a while but if you've never been before
it's hard to ignore because it's a beautiful city on the Adriatic sea known for its distinctive old
town encircled with massive stone walls all completed in the 16th century. It's packed with
history, beautiful and interesting landmarks and into centuries-old buildings like the
Franciscan monastery but before stopping at one of the many cafes for a relaxing drink.
And overall the highlight is its ancient walls that surround the city as well as giving you
great photo opportunities so make sure you walk along the walls between the historic towers and
buildings. I'm pretty sure you'll love exploring the old town but like I said it is busy as hell
but overall well worth the trip. Now Turkey is a great choice for a summer holiday and there's one
location in particular where I really recommend that you should try and visit. It's a seaside
town on the Mediterranean coast in southwestern Turkey, Kaş. The main square is a small area
overlooking the harbour and it's quite a quaint little seaside town but just a 30-minute drive
from Kaş is one of the most beautiful beaches that you'll ever visit and it's known for its
unbelievable turquoise blue water and in particular its location. So it is super easy to
get there if you have a car but make sure that you visit before midday just to avoid the crowds.
So this is a small traditional fishing village right in the southeastern region of Malta.
It has a harbour and is a very big tourist attraction known for its views, fishermen
and its history. The town offers a selection of the finest fish restaurants on the island
so when you look at Malta as a whole this is the type of destination where you would really
take up the opportunity of sampling some of the local fish but also for those peaceful walks
around the coast and harbour as well as for its secluded and untainted swimming zones in the area
around Masar Şlak. You'll especially enjoy the nightlife in the summer so this type of holiday
and atmosphere kind of reminds me of Greece. Now we come to one of my favourites, Paros,
an island at the centre of the Cyclades island group. Paros island will give you exactly what
you want. Beautiful natural landscape, plenty of coastline and it's easily one of the most
beautiful Greek islands because it has endless golden sand beaches, beautiful mountains and
cliff top villages. So it's only a short ride away from Athens which is easily accessible from Paros.
The good thing is you can go island hopping to other popular Cyclades islands such as Mykonos
and Santorini and even Naxos so again the location is perfect and you have two main
villages of Paros such as Parakia and Naousa. Plenty to do, plenty to see and is literally for everyone.
Number 12, Ravine. Now this is the star of the coastal Istria region with an old town that's
contained within this kind of egg-shaped peninsula. Plenty of steep cobble streets and small squares
all leading to the church tower rising from the highest point.
Now when you arrive you will notice that it's very Italianate in its nature,
famous for the Euphemia Cathedral which is the highest church tower in Istria at 61 meters high.
So visiting the church is an absolute must. It was planned and built by a Venetian architect.
The bell tower on the church is a direct copy of the one at St Mark's Basilica in Venice
and there are spectacular views over the rooftops of Ravine which is why I said it's a must visit.
Number 13, Villefranche-sur-Mer. One of the best stay trips you can go on from Nice.
A beautiful village that lies just on the other side and it makes it one of the closest and easiest
day trips from the city, just seven minutes by train. But the main draw here is how colourful
the town is and its beautiful waterfront restaurants. So it lies by the water and it
has a lovely promenade that you'll be able to notice day or night so make sure you bring enough
stuff to go for a dip because it has an amazing beach, beautiful clear water and a real sense of
that summer holiday vibe. Number 14, we head to the Liguria region of Italy. The snaking
cliff top roads and the very small harbour have protected Tellaro from the wave upon wave of
tourism that has swallowed other Ligurian seaside towns like Farnazza and Portofino.
So this is a great opportunity for you to visit this particular location. Plenty of pastel
buildings that cling to the sheer coast and it provides that kind of cliff-hugging visual effect
like the more traffic destinations that I just mentioned. And even in the past famous poets
would literally search for inspiration for the Mediterranean and basically they headed to Tellaro.
Now if you fancy heading to Spain this year, Cadaques is another picturesque white village
which is located on a very rocky coast along the Mediterranean, part of the Cap de Cruz National Park
accessible only through a narrow road which is probably why its old charm is still intact just
like I mentioned in regards to Tellaro. You'll find Cuban inspired houses, cobblestone alleyways
that make that unique charm of this small Mediterranean port town and you can walk
towards the sea along the rocky shoreline and you'll get a spectacular view of this white town
and the small colourful boats rocking along the beachfront. Known for its stunning cliffs,
crystal clear waters and a charming historic centre, it's no wonder why Polignano al Mare
has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area.
Picturesque streets and again whitewashed buildings, it's a perfect area to kind of
people watch. But don't forget the Cala Porta beach, a stunning cove that's surrounded by
towering cliffs and the sea. The beach is perfect for swimming or sunbathing and it's a great spot
to take in some real natural beauty. But for those of you who want a little bit of adventure,
head to the Grotta Palazzese, a cafe restaurant that's located right along the water.
Number 17. Now it wouldn't be a trip to Montenegro without visiting the country's most popular
destination, Cotonou. You see the old town is actually on the UNESCO world heritage list,
so if that's not a good enough reason then try the fact that it has one of the best fortified
towns along the Adriatic, so it's a worthy rival to Dubrovnik or even Split. So you'll find
medieval or Roman churches, Venetian palaces and the towering Byzantine towers, which reveals the
legacy of the many different empires that have occupied Cotonou over the centuries.
And all of this without even mentioning the orange roofed houses,
so make sure you wander around the streets in the early morning, because it's the best way to see
the town. Number 18. Tunisia is one of those countries that's full of souks, spices, deserts,
ancient cities, but not forgetting one of the best summer holiday destinations that you can go on,
because of the many beaches. But there's one place which I think some of you would really enjoy.
Whitewashed houses with blue doors, which is the most striking feature of the destination
called Said-e-Bousaid on Tunisia's Mediterranean coast. So if you love holidays on the coast,
beautiful weather, I think this is a great chance to try something a little bit different
than the normal destinations that you visit. Megalohori is one of the most traditional
villages of the busy Santorini, and the village is a labyrinth of white cycladic houses,
narrow streets and churches with blue domes and bell towers. But it's the bell towers
that's the icon and symbol of Megalohori. And in the center of the village there is that
characteristic square with taverns, restaurants and a small park. And the good thing is it's
surrounded by several trees, so it kind of allows you to take shelter from the sun and just breathe
for a little while. And there are plenty of cafes where you can sample some of the local coffee.
But it's the square where you'll find the heart of the village and a meeting place for locals
and tourists alike. So the next destination is one of the loveliest towns anywhere along the
Adriatic coast, the picturesque town of Peran. And it sits at the tip of a narrow peninsula.
And one of the best things in this particular location is its old town,
because it's one of the best preserved historical towns anywhere in the Mediterranean.
A real gem of Venetian Gothic architecture. But it can be a bit busy in the height of summer,
so just be aware of that. But in the quieter times it's very easy to get lost in the winding
alleyways. The sunsets are really cool and the seafood is one of the highlights.
21. Dea. Mallorca is the largest of the Spanish Balearic Islands, and if you do visit it offers
some of the most beautiful sandy beaches, rocky mountain landscapes for you adventurers,
and plenty of pretty stone villages. But hiding away from the main tourist resorts,
you'll find the beautiful village of Dea, which is a little village untouched over time.
Looking around the lush green mountains you'll see plenty of olive groves, quaint villages,
and the blue sea glistening between the gaps in the mountains from above.
So it's close to Valdemossa and worth visiting on the same day.
So Dea is also one of those picturesque Mallorcan towns. It has those honeystone houses,
traditional green shutters, and again another location where it became popular with writers
and artists. So you've already seen Tunisia and some other villages in France, so you can imagine
it's also a very ideal place for a holiday. 22. Procida. Less than two square miles in size,
the tiny island of Procida, and it's one of Italy's loveliest gems off the rocky Italian
coastline. It's a historical place with a deep sense of community. I mean I'm not sure if you've
ever watched that movie The Talented Mr Ripley, but it was filmed right there, and still it's not
as heavily touristy as some of the other Italian coastline destinations. With its stunning
coastline, pastel buildings, and as I mentioned, a very friendly bunch of locals. It's hard to miss
this one, but I have to say Procida will be one of the coolest places that you'll ever visit.
Now if you want to see a mostly secluded beach and canyon when visiting the Riviera in southern
Albania, then you should try to head to Jipe. It's a remote beach surrounded by a towering
rock formations with beautiful aquamarine waters of the Ionian Sea that wash up on its shores.
The beach can be found in the Albanian Riviera between Dermi and Himara, so if you are staying
there, it's close enough for a day trip. You'd have to get the bus and then go on foot, so make
sure you bring as much of your stuff that you need as possible because it's one of the areas
most famous beaches in the region. Less crowded due to its limited ways to basically get there.
The southern gateway to the Albanian Riviera, and one of the best cities to visit, not least
because it's close to one of the region's best beaches, Kejsemaldic. So get a hotel in Saranda,
where you'll be close to some of the best restaurants in Albania, and the buzzing nightlife.
Of course it's one of the popular destinations in the country, but you can also explore the beaches
during the day, and one of the best things to do from there is to hop on one of the day trip
boat tours that leave the boulevard and go straight to some of these gorgeous beaches.
And finally, Naxos. I still think it's relatively underrated compared to its
neighboring Greek islands, Mykonos and the volcanic Santorini. So as the biggest island
in the Cyclades, Naxos has a staggering 40 kilometers worth of beaches. So that's really
where you would go, and it's been named as some of the best in the whole of Greece.
And the main town, Kora, is a wonderful mixture of Venetian and Cycladic architecture. Mainly
the whitewashed houses. There's also an imposing Venetian castle,
so I think this is a fantastic choice for your summer this year. I do appreciate those of you
who continue to follow the channel. For those of you who are new, subscribe if you want to see
