(Laliga 2023/2024): Highlights ATLÉTICO MADRID - GIRONA

We've said it many times before that they've managed to bring the spirit of the Calderon to their new ground, which is not easy to do. Let's have a look at the two teams. Girona on the attack here. Savino. Comes to Yangle Herrera. Couto, can he get the shot away? It's turned in! Pretty much on the line by Dobik. It's his 17th goal of the season, and just as they did in the return fixture in January, Girona take the early lead. What a combination. It was basically a quick transition led by Savino. Griezmann swings it in, and the heads go up. Handball. Referee points to the spot, and Atletico Madrid have been... And he scores! The perfect penalty. Low, hard, and just inside the post. Unstoppable. And that's Griezmann's 12th goal of the season. For the business end of the season. On he comes. It's an attack for Atletico Madrid, but little by little they're pushing very well. Girona, too. City, Depa. Pumping challenge from Ronil, though. From Griezmann. Tried to pick out Morata. Eric Garcia's clearance is charged down. Morata will try and keep this in play. Does he? Yes, he does. Morata with the cross. And the header from Correa! And they've gone into the lead just before half-time. And full credit to Morata. Correa gets the goal, but Alvaro Morata, the first-half substitute, did not hesitate. He kept playing. He retrieved the ball before it went out of play. And Correa turns it into the back post. And Atletico Madrid, after starting this game, is so sleepy. More similar to what we saw the other day against Borussia Dortmund. Chance here for Griezmann! And they score! Atletico Madrid make it 3-1. Four minutes inside the second half. Griezmann strikes again. His second goal of the game. He's 13th of the season. The man has... Savino. Yangler. And with a shot! And Dobrik's missed! From about three yards out. I'm not sure if the flag was up to spare, as it were. Well, he does very well there. He's taken it off to Alex Garcia. And Noblak's forced to make another save. He's second in quick succession. Molina clears. Gazzaniga once more. This ferocious press has worked very effectively. And that should have been 4-1. Molina sinks to his knees in the penalty area. He'd done the hard bit. Chance here for Morata. Morata with the shot. He's blocked by Blind. Still with Morata. And into the side netting. Urensi complaining that that wasn't pulled back to him. Pablo Totti. Chance for Porto! And Noblak makes the save. Well, it came straight at him. Porto's head in his hands. Well, my thanks to Mano Vieira. It's finished here. The Metropolitano-Griezmann man of the match. He scored twice. Atletico Madrid 3-1 Girona.
