Hippo vs Lions

So an absolutely crazy sighting this afternoon. We've been noticing this injured hippo that's been lying in this in this pool here in front of us and we also noticed that these youngsters from the Black Dempire, the young males, have been pushing closer and closer. This male, this hippo is so badly injured that his wounds are actually festering and I think these lions could smell it. So they're obviously young and they're brave and they're trying to see what they can do here if they can actually hunt this hippo. He is very vulnerable but obviously still very very dangerous. I'm going to go forward in a little while. I think what happened while the lions were circling this waterhole and lying here waiting for this hippo to make a move, they obviously came to the waterhole not aware that the lions were here so they've taken the opportunity to get a little warthog. We'll move a little bit closer so you can see it. We don't know where to look at the moment. Obviously a big lioness here with a warthog kill. Looks like a male warthog that they killed here. Some are sleeping but some of these lions are still circling this waterhole hoping to get a chance for this hippo. They'll spend a few hours I suspect and see what's happening. Well it's been several hours we actually decided to leave, give them some time and then come back. These lions are still around. You can see a nice one of the bigger young males from the Black Dam Pride keeping a keen eye on this hippo. This might go on like this for several days so we're definitely definitely going to keep tabs on these animals in this situation and see what happens. We'll keep you posted.
