In the world of skiing, the thrill on the slopes is only half the adventure.
Welcome to the 10 Best Apres Ski Destinations in the World,
ranging from the Alps in Austria to the Sierra Mountains in California.
At number 10, we start here in the Sierras at Mammoth Mountain's legendary apres ski scene.
After an amazing day on one of California's biggest mountains,
look no further than Canyon Lodge Sun Deck for one of the best apres ski parties.
This lodge has a spot known as Lincoln Bar that hosts the famous indoor and outdoor party,
from 2-5pm every Friday and Saturday. This party happens weekly, features DJs spinning
from an elevated gondola car, champagne showers, crowd surfing, and a guaranteed rowdy crowd.
Another perk to Mammoth's apres scene is that the ski season doesn't normally end until late spring
or even the summer months. This allows some sun-filled, warm days at the base of Canyon
Lodge after some slushy turns. Mammoth's somewhat close proximity to Los Angeles
also brings in a younger and more vibrant crowd looking to have some fun after a long day on the
slopes. Although Mammoth's apres scene is good, the next resort has far more options for apres ski,
which brings us out to Livigno, Italy for our 9th Best Apres Ski Resort.
Livigno, Italy has a staggering 150 bars, which dwarfs any other ski destination in the world.
There's even a bar called the Baita del Get, which offers every customer their first drink for free
every time you go there. Arguably the most well-known party spot in Livigno is Mickey's
Disco Club, which is an upbeat Italian club where everyone is on their feet dancing. Another one of
Livigno's best spot is Cronol, which is open daily from 10am to 2am. Not only does Cronol
have a hopping dance floor, but they also have bowling, pool tables, darts, slot machines,
and some of Italy's best pizza. The best true mountainside apres ski spot has to be the Stale
at Livigno, which has people dancing on tables and counters after a long day on the slopes.
Stale also moves their dance floor outside on nice days, which provides a convenient spot to
party right after making it down the mountain. Stale is what you think of when you think of
European apres ski. If you're looking for more of an upscale vibe with 24-7 parties,
then look no further than Ischgl, Austria for our 8th Best Apres Ski Destination.
Ischgl may not be extremely cheap, but they have the claim to fame for arguably the best
apres ski bar in the world. The Trollfana Alm almost looks like something you'd see in Ibiza
where there's multiple levels to the bar. Trollfana Alm also has a bit of a German Oktoberfest vibe
where there's very cheap beer and rowdy Europeans dancing on tables. This bar also opens up on
warmer days where the same rowdy vibe transfers outdoors. Ischgl also has many other rowdy bars
which has a very American influence to it. Kutztal has a very young crowd to it and can even feature
a massive stage outside when the weather allows for it. This place can get absolutely packed,
and it's hard to imagine that there's even much skiing going on here with all the insane party
options Ischgl has. If you're an American and can't make it all the way out to Europe for their
legendary apres ski scene, then look no further than Jackson Hole in Wyoming for our 7th Best
Apres Ski Destination. Jackson Hole has some of the best skiing in the United States, but it also
has a very lively apres ski scene. One of Jackson Hole's best spots, located just at the base of the
mountain, is the Mangy Moose Saloon which has everything you'd want in an apres ski bar from
stiff drinks to affordable prices, a massive moose head hanging from the ceiling, and daily live
music. If you go into the town of Jackson, there's no shortage of bars here either. One of the most
famous bars is known as the Cowboy which is a classic wild west themed bar. They've got cheap
drinks, saddles to sit on at the bar, pool tables, and dartboards. Jackson Hole also has many classier
apres ski spots that are good for nicer cocktails like the Handlebar, the Spur, and the Deck which
has some of the best mountain views in the country. The next destination definitely steps it up when
it comes to the apres ski scene which brings us out to the French Alps at Alpe d'Huez. Alpe d'Huez
is home to one of the La Folle Duce bars that have been known as some of the best spots to apres ski.
This is basically an outdoor club that is high up on the mountain. This big outdoor terrace has
plenty of space to dance around in your ski boots and has spectacular views of the surrounding
mountains. This Folle Duce location is especially nice because there is a relatively easy black run
to make it down the mountain after a long afternoon partying allowing for you to make the descent down
at any time. We couldn't put Alpe d'Huez on this list without mentioning their famous Igloo bar
either. The Igloo stays open until 6am and it's said to get crazier and crazier all the way up
till 6am. Alpe d'Huez also has a large number of pubs and tamer apres ski spots including O'Sharkies,
Smithies, Sphere Bar, and the Underground Bar. If you thought these outdoor parties on the
mountain looked awesome, then a step up from this would be traveling over to Val d'Isere in France
for our 5th best apres ski destination. Here at Val d'Isere is home to the very original La Folle
Duce location which opened in 1981. This outdoor terrace is even larger where there's guaranteed
to be tons of people dancing on tables and any kind of elevated surface. This Folle Duce also
has direct access to a gondola which makes it extremely easy to get down the mountain if you
can't muster up the strength to ski down. Once you make it down the mountain, at the base there's a
Coco Ricos spot which is perfect for partying under the lights at night. This spot has the
same rowdy crowd as La Folle Duce, just under the lights at night. Then if you make your way into
the town even later at night, the two biggest nightclubs are the legendary Dick's Tea Bar
with a mainly British crowd and then Doudon with a mainly French crowd. There's plenty of other
bars to enjoy if you're looking for a less rowdy crowd like Petit Danoy, the Morris Pub,
and the Underground. Arguably one of the most famous apres-ski destinations in the world brings
us out to Austria at the legendary St. Anton for our fourth best on the list. St. Anton is known
to be bonkers and not for those wanting a chill apres-ski scene. One of St. Anton's most famous
spots is known as the Crazy Kangaroo or otherwise known as the KK which is a rowdy spot that's
mainly outdoors. If you're looking for an even bigger outdoor crowd, then head over to the
Muserwurt in St. Anton which is always packed with skiers looking to party after a long day
on the mountain. Every day at 3pm, the Muserwurt gets its party started by playing the final
countdown which is followed by getting the crowd jumping into a table dancing party. It's said that
at the Muserwurt, the bartenders often carry 30 full-size beers at a time on double stacked trays.
The Muserwurt also has a large indoor area with multiple levels to it that has people
partying until the early hours of the morning. St. Anton also has a variety of smaller sports
bars and pubs that are perfect for a more chill apres-ski destination including Base Camp,
Taps, and Underground on the Piste. Our third best apres-ski destination brings us back to
the United States for arguably the most famous ski destination in the country, Aspen, Colorado.
Arguably the most famous apres-ski spot in Aspen is known as Cloud 9 Bistro which is only accessible
by skiing to or through a snowcat as it is located high up on Aspen Highlands Mountain.
Every day at noon and 2pm, Cloud 9 has a champagne party where everyone stands up
on tables and sprays champagne at each other. People typically take off a couple layers of
clothes before this happens otherwise you'd have a pretty wet and cold ski descent back down the
mountain. In the town of Aspen, the best club spot is known to be Belly Up which hosts many
famous bands and DJs. This venue can hold upwards of 450 people and has people partying late into
the morning hours. Aspen certainly has its fair share of bars and pubs along with many expensive
shops that will likely have many famous people in them. Now into the top 2, we go back out to
France for an apres-ski destination that is known to be the Ibiza in the mountains or otherwise known
as Les Deux Alpes in France. There's an insane 45 bars along the main drag and 8 nightclubs in
On the actual mountain, there's a spot known as Pano Bar which is often compared to La Folle
du Seil locations. This is one of the biggest outdoor terraces on any ski mountain and sits
on a glacier that allows for partying well into the spring and even summer months. Once you make
it down the mountain, the next go-to spot is known as Umbrella Bar which fittingly has a massive
umbrella that can be expanded to trap heat on cold days. This umbrella is put down on warmer days
where you can party outdoors at the base of the mountain. Back into town, there's as mentioned
before a number of nightclubs and different bars to try, so many that you need an entire ski season
to check out every place Les Deux Alpes has to offer. Now bringing us to our very best destination
to apres-ski, we stay in France and go to Val Thorens for the number 1 apres-ski resort. Here
at Val Thorens, they are known for the most famous La Folle du Seil in the world which is constantly
being shared all over social media. This La Folle du Seil is guaranteed to be packed with people
and you can see the action right below you when you're going up the chairlift. This entire mountain
and even the town of Val Thorens is above the treeline which makes the entire experience feel
like you're partying on a glacier. One of the best parts about Val Thorens is that it's a relatively
cheap mountain which means you won't be paying aspen prices for your drinks. Back in town,
there's plenty of bars to hop around to including The Frog and Roast Beef which is the highest pub
in Europe and Cafe Snesco which is one of the rowdiest spots in the entire country of France.
Val Thorens is also home to the largest nightclub in the Alps known as Malaysia which hosts some of
the top DJs and music artists from around the world. As you could probably tell, most of the
best apres-ski destinations take place in Europe and one of the main reasons for this is because
of how inexpensive it is compared to the United States. Skiing in Europe is actually much cheaper
than the United States and you can find out exactly why that is in this video right here.
