Play tourist in my town, Cold winter day, Visiting the old Quebec city/ Van life
Good morning everyone! We are in Quebec City!
Always, always come here every time I go in Quebec to play tourist. Downtown Quebec City is
gorgeous, old city and I want to show you a couple of places today. It is a chilly one so we're gonna
put a toque on and a couple gloves and things like this and we're just gonna walk and yeah
showing you this beautiful, beautiful town. Oh and if you wonder where is Kitty, she stayed in my
friend's house because it's a chilly one and instead of leaving her inside the camper and
leaving the heater on all day long that I'm here, I decided, she decided pretty much to stay in my
friend's house in front of the fireplace. She loved it there and my mom would stay home so she could
take care of her. So yeah we're gonna put gloves and we're gonna go explore. All right I think I'm
ready. Well first of all, right beside the van, we are parked right beside this mountain shade.
Yeah we're fighting between you and this little sign. That's the first time I see that one.
Martoro Tower, built in early 19th century. So they built this to prevent the invader
from approaching the existing fortification which I'm going to show you in a couple of minutes.
Oh of course we cannot go inside. So I'm obviously not an expert into the whole story of Quebec City
and out of this I'm gonna try to do my best but I'm sorry if I missed up a couple little things.
But there's always a sign everywhere where we can, you know, learn more because that's the best part
about the whole town like this and the whole story is to learn a little bit more every time.
So I may not be an expert in the whole story of Quebec City but I can tell you a story about this
building. Yes the Dagobah. It is the club, the place when you're a teenager or young adult obviously
18, 20, you used to go there all the time. It was the place and it's still open and my mom told me
that when she was young she used to go there. So it's been forever in this town, in this place,
the place to go dance. I can tell you a lot of story about this building.
So a couple of things that I can tell you about Quebec City.
It was built in 1608 and all the city has been fortified. So behind me right here all the walls
go all along Quebec City border, like the whole town we call it. So and here it is the battlefield
Penderbrom, it's called too as well. I'm going to show you all around but
yeah it's a beautiful city. It's called too as well today. I can tell you that.
Maybe I should have listened a little bit more in my history class at school.
So we're gonna enter the wall, the place with the fortification.
The other side of this is what's called the old Quebec City.
So there you go, we arrived at the famous Chateau Frontenac. I tried to show you all of it.
It's pretty hard, it's pretty big. Yeah this is quite, I think if you saw a couple of pictures
online about Quebec City, you probably saw one with it. It is gorgeous and the view from this
Chateau Frontenac, it is from the Saint-Laurent river which is gorgeous right now. So we are now
in Cartier-du-Petit-Champ-Blanc which is a very very touristic attraction here. It is gorgeous
and for those of you, I know I'm showing you a lot right now, but for those of you who've never
been in Quebec, wonder do they speak English here. Downtown here, no problem guys. And if you wonder
if my French came back because if you saw a couple of my videos, I had a hard time with my French.
Yes, it came back. Everything is good. We're good to go. Maybe 90% back, I would say. It is a gorgeous day.
Alright guys, I'm freezing so I'm gonna try to grab something to eat, something to drink.
We are still here, we are still here. Good sign. It was a cold day today. I'm glad I left Kelly
inside my friend's house. I mean like she could have come but I would have to leave the heater on
all day for her obviously because it's quite cold. It's minus 10 I think today or with the wind chill
minus 10. So she's just chilling in my friend's house I'm pretty sure. But I feel a little bit
strange to drive without her in my van. She's always in the passenger seat and when I was
driving here I was like she's not here with me. She will for next time we go out and enjoy some
beautiful place. Feels so good. Obviously first thing I did is to start the heater.
We're gonna warm up. I'm gonna make a little party, a little cup of tea and maybe a little
soup. I'm gonna try to figure out. I bring a couple of my stuff that I had in my fridge and
things like this to my friend's house. So I don't have so much inside the camper but
yeah I'm pretty sure I can make a little soup, something to warm me up. So when it's cold outside
butane is not the greatest. You kind of have to warm up a little bit that
that you can. Sometimes I put like a little bit in front of the heater just for a minute or two
to warm up. It's getting better now. There you go. But yeah it's always a struggle with butane.
I got it. So I think for my quick little soup it's not going to be real soup. I'm just going to put
this vegetable bouillon and a little bit of rice. I thought I'd have some pasta or things like this
but I'm just going to put some rice and I just need something to warm up. Not really want to
eat that much. So obviously today I could. I've shown you so much more. There's so much to look
just like in a small little area downtown Quebec City. But I just wanted to show you
maybe the classic, the little place that it's nice to look. I mean I couldn't make like three videos
over there but I hope this will give you a little idea, a little kind of interest to go all the way
to Quebec City. I know a lot of you, a lot of people usually stop in Montreal because they're
a little bit worried about going all the way to Quebec because they're worried. They think that
Quebec will only speak French which is true. Their main language is French but downtown Quebec City
has got no problem. You're gonna have boat service. That's for sure. If you're going a little bit
outside you might have people who don't speak English. But you know what? I went in Thailand for
three weeks and I was not speaking the language. And a lot of the big tourist towns they speak English
too as well. But some place a little bit outside that was the same thing. They only speak their
language. And with just a wall and laugh you can make everything happen you know. It's not a big
deal. So don't stop yourself because you don't speak French. Bring a little book, a little translator
and have fun and you're ready to go I think. All right come on a little water. I want to warm up.
I got my warm tea. Oh yeah. Nothing better than a little bouillon.
That's gonna warm you up that's for sure. I must say a little soup, cup of tea plus the heat on.
I'm pretty much sweating right now. Let's see. Let's check how much it is.
Almost 12 degrees right now. It was probably, I didn't look when I started the van but it was
probably close to maybe five even maybe lower than that. But that cup of tea and
the soup make me like sweat right now. I feel way warmer than 11 degrees. All right guys so I'm gonna
let you a couple little projects here when I'm in Quebec to show you a lot of new places
around here. Not so much tourist place after that too as well. And like I said a couple times I'm at
my parents house for a little bit, close to three weeks around that. And after that we have a big
travel planned for the rest of the summer. Pretty excited about that. So I'm gonna let you, I'm gonna
let you with Kelly who as I said sleeping inside the house and I'm pretty sure she's happy to be
there in front of fireplace. She enjoyed a lot there. So I'm gonna let you with her and I will
see you in the next video. Bye!
