1982's Tootsie in 1994's Blue Sky along
with five Golden Globe awards originally
from CL Minnesota she now resides in
Greenwich Village New York City where
she enjoys spending time with her three
children and two grandchildren in 2018
Jessica paid $3.3 million for a two bed
two bath 10th floor apartment and one
fifth avenue but she's already owned an
apartment in the building since 2005 she
and her former partner the late
playwright Sam Shepard purchased a three
bedroom apartment for $3.4 million in
2005 after their split in 200 nine Lang
bought Shepherd's share of the space for
$1.64 million and she's retained
ownership ever since Lang's pre-war
apartment is located directly above her
other longtime residence though it's
somewhat smaller according to listing
materials at the time it featured a
hexagonal entry Foy in sitting room as
well as a formal dining room and living
room Jessica Lang an American actress
celebrated for her versatile
performances was born on April 20th 194
49 in clette Minnesota her early life
was marked by frequent relocations due
to her father's work as a traveling
salesman Lang's upbringing in various
Midwestern towns instilled in her a
sense of adaptability and resilience she
attended the University of Minnesota
where she studied art and photography
her passion for the Arts led her to
Paris where she continued her studies
and was introduced to the world of
acting in terms of her love life Lang
has had notable relationships that have
been both publicly scrutinized and
cherished she was first married to
Spanish photographer Francisco Paco
Grant from 1970 to 1981 their
relationship though foundational in her
early career eventually ended in divorce
later she was in a relationship with
Russian ballet dancer Mel barishnikov
with whom she had her first child
Alexandra or shura in 1981 that
relationship lasted a while but Lang's
most enduring partnership was with
playwright and actor Sam Shepard they
met in 1982 while filming Francis and
soon became Inseparable sharing a life
together for nearly three decades
together they had two children Hannah
Jane Shepard and Samuel Walker they
separated in 2009 but their bond and
collaborative Spirit remained
significant in Lang's life the actress
has often spoken about the joys and
challenges of motherhood emphasizing her
dedication to her children despite the
demands of her acting career Lang
prioritized creating a nurturing and
stable environment for her family her
children now adults have pursued their
own paths with shur becoming a dancer
and choreographer following in the
artistic footsteps of both her parents
when it comes to her homes Jessica has
lived in a handful of locations like a
farm estate in Stillwater Minnesota
which served as a retreat from Hollywood
before we check out her New York City
Apartments let's see this peaceful
country property first Jessica and her
late ex-husband Sam Shepard lived on a
large farm in Charlottesville Virginia
for 10 years before they moved to
Minnesota in 1995 Lang envisioned her
children growing up in a small town
similar to her own upbringing and she
wanted them to be near extended family
they settled into an expansive Victorian
house from the 1890s in Stillwater next
door to Lang's mother's home the house
required extensive Renovations and Lang
took on the challenge of transforming it
initially she tackled clearing two 2
Acres of brush outside installing
Limestone walls and steps to Terrace the
grounds and undertaking 9 years of
dedicated gardening though she was new
to gardening Lang may have inherited a
green thumb from her aunts who she
remembers studying plant cataloges
during Minnesota winters she started
modestly with a small horseshoe Garden
near the house drawing inspiration from
English cottage gardens this Garden
featured lies Ferns dayes and Claus
around a mosaic bird bath Lang then
expanded her vision to create individual
Gardens for each of her children
reflecting their unique qualities for
example for shora she designed a garden
rich in purples with lilacs violets
irises and hydrangeas Lang also made two
unique Gardens one for each of her other
children as well Lang's gardening
Endeavors grew to include multiple water
features each Child's Garden has its own
water element and between Hannah's and
Walker's Garden lies a Monae inspired
Pond surrounded by yellow and blue
flowers at the hills base there's a
large Lily Pond the actress further
created a Buddha garden featuring a
Tibetan Buddha statue and peanes while
they were living at the Minnesota
property Lang and Shepard went on to
purchase an adjacent lot remodeled its
swimming pool and also built a guest
house after living here for many years
the stunning estate popped up on the
market Lang's prominent family home
occupied one of the largest Lots in the
city spanning 2.5 acres according to
listing materials at the time it offers
sweeping views of the town the St CRA
River and the historic lift bridge it
was described as a Quiet Retreat unlike
any other in the city and one of the
finest Residential Properties in the
historic village of Stillwater this
6,000 ft home originally built in 1892
was renovated by Jessica and Sam in the
mid 1990s the property boasts a guest
house Carriage House swimming pool
tiered Gardens and a small fruit Orchard
there's also the ponds that we mentioned
and wooden areas it's Fen for privacy
and secured by a modern security system
at the time of selling the couple was
relocating to New York City where Lang
still currently lives Lang mentioned
that she returned to Minnesota in 1995
to be closer to her mother who lived in
the house next door to the Lang sheeper
home until her passing in 1997 her
mother's house also on North 4th Street
was reportedly sold as well at the time
Lang stated I'm ready to move back to
New York this is a nice place to rais
children but there's no reason for me to
be here anymore the couple's children
were teens at the time or going off to
college while it said that Jessica still
keeps a getaway cabin in Minnesota since
selling that estate we just looked at
she's mainly lived in New York City in
2018 Jessica added on to her Holdings in
the same Greenwich Village building
where she already owned an apartment she
paid $3.3 million for a two- bed two
bath 10f floor apartment in 1/5th Avenue
which was directly above the unit she
already owned she and her former partner
the late playright Sam Shepard purchased
a three-bedroom apartment for $3.4
million in 2005 after they split in 2009
Lang bought Shepherd share of the space
for $1.64 million in 2013 and she
retained ownership ever since while the
more recently purchased apartment was
slightly smaller than the one she's
already owned it's thought that Jessica
could have even combined the two units
according to listing materials at the
time the apartment featured a hexagonal
entry fo in sitting room as well as a
formal dining room and living room from
the listing photos at the time it seemed
that the apartment could use some
sprucing up and the office area would
definitely look better once it was
decluttered considering Lang never ended
up listing the apartment she already
owned here it seems she may have just
went on to turn the two units into one
large home given the ideal location a
duplex would be the perfect property
offering Picture Perfect views of
Washington Square Park and Fifth Avenue
as we can see Jessica Lang's homes
reflect her deep appreciation for art
history and nature from the historic
Victorian house in Stillwater Minnesota
with its crafted Gardens to her
expanding footprint in New York City's
iconic Greenwich Village Lang's
residences show her eclectic and
creative Spirit her thoughtful approach
to renovating and personalizing these
spaces shows her commitment to creating
environments that are not only beautiful
