Former Colorado Resident Sentenced to
Life in Prison for Federal Hate Crimes
and Firearm Offenses Related to Mass
Shooting at Club Q
June 18, 2024
"Fueled by hate, the defendant
targeted members of the LGBTQIA+
community at a place that
represented belonging, safety, and
acceptance – stealing five people from
their loved ones, injuring 19 others, and
striking fear across the country. I am
grateful to every agent, prosecutor,
and staff member across the
Department – from the U.S. Attorney’s
Office for the District of Colorado, to
the Civil Rights Division, the ATF, and
FBI – for their work on this case. The
Justice Department will never stop
working to defend the safety and civil
rights of all people in our country."
-Attorney General Merrick B. Garland
AAG Clarke: "This was one of the most
violent, hate-fueled mass shootings
targeting the LGBTQIA+ community in our
nation's history. This sentence, while
severe, cannot undo the harm inflicted on
that day. I want the entire LGBTQIA+
community to know that the Justice
Department stands with you. In America,
no one should be subjected to hate or
violence because of who they are, what
they look like, or who they love."
Federal Indictment Alleges Alliance
Between Sinaloa Cartel and Money
Launderers Linked to Chinese
Underground Banking

"Dangerous drugs like fentanyl and
methamphetamine are destroying
people’s lives but drug traffickers only care
about their profits. To protect our
community, therefore, it is essential that
we go after the sophisticated,
international criminal syndicates that
launder the drug money. As this
indictment and our international actions show, we will
be dogged in our pursuit of all those who facilitate
destruction in our country and make sure
they are held accountable for their actions."
-United States Attorney for the Central
District of California E. Martin Estrada
Justice Department Announces Extradition
of Indian National Charged in Connection
with Foiled Plot to Assassinate U.S. Citizen
in New York City
June 17, 2024
"This extradition makes clear that the
Justice Department will not tolerate
attempts to silence or harm American
citizens. Nikhil Gupta will now face justice
in an American courtroom for his
involvement in an alleged plot, directed by
an employee of the Indian government to
target and assassinate a U.S. citizen for his
support of the Sikh separatist movement in
India. I am grateful to the Department’s
agents who foiled this assassination plot
and to our Czech partners for their
assistance in this arrest and extradition."
-Attorney General Merrick B. Garland
United States Files Complaint Against
Adobe and Two Adobe Executives for
Alleged Violations of Restore Online
Shoppers’ Confidence Act
June 17, 2024
"The Justice Department is committed to
stopping companies and their executives
from preying on consumers who sign up
for online subscriptions by hiding key
terms and making cancellation an obstacle
course. We will continue to enforce ROSCA
against those who engage in such
misconduct. No company, whether it is a
small business or a member of the Fortune
500 like Adobe, is above the law."
-Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division Brian M. Boynton
Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco
convened European leaders for first
international meeting of the JusticeAI Initiative
June 20, 2024
