The Smith Brothers have an action packed day in Bali, Indonesia - surfing at Keramas and Uluwatu and then heading over to The Istana to try out their amazing biohacking facilities (Cryotherapy, Sensory Deprivation Tank and Hyperbaric Chamber). #surf #biohack #cryotherapy
A little early morning wave check here.
Our shaman, Arpad, is bringing us to a secret spot, so I think we might get barreled this
morning.
Crazy, close out, slab, barreling, makeable wave.
And there's another wave nearby that's smaller, more friendly, user friendly.
Alex wants that.
I want this.
There's only one other place to go this morning, boys.
We're going to face the facts.
Want to go to Karamas and let us know how it is before we just go out here?
The boys are going to go out here, even though it sucks, and we're going to go to Karamas
because it's good.
Alex is headed to Karamas, his favorite wave in the world.
Looks pretty good.
We knew it all along.
This is the right call.
I bet you they're just staring at the waves right now and it's getting lower tide and
the reef's sticking out.
They're acting like they're going to surf, but they're not.
That last one was crazy.
Did you see how shallow it is, though?
And they're going to end up here in like 45 minutes.
Watch what Merced.
I think it's too shallow.
Let's go to Karamas.
I guess so.
Pulsing right now.
Oh!
Plot twist.
Karamas is absolutely firing.
Good call, Alex.
The galaxy is below us and above us.
We thought we were going to score this morning, we had to wake up at 4, but it's the way the
cookie crumbles.
The waves are still pretty fun.
We're going to head back up to Uluatu, see if there's something we can do up there.
The waves should be big, though, at the bottom.
What's up, you guys?
We're here in Bali, Indonesia, and we're at the Istana Spa.
This place is pretty much heaven.
So amazing.
We're super into our biohacks.
We do a lot of ice bath and sauna.
Travis, tell them what we're going to do.
It's pretty much a big tongue twister, but there's a deprivation tank, a hyperbaric chamber,
and cryotherapy.
Those things are the most exciting biohacking things out there.
We're going to try it all today, see how it feels.
We're going to walk you through every step of the way.
Some of the things we've never done before, so we're excited to try it out and just see
how it feels.
Let's go check it out.
How cold is 110 Celsius?
Negative.
That's pretty cold.
Very interesting.
I feel like we do a lot of ice baths, but will that even help for this?
Okay, let's get cold.
Full of ice.
It's snowing in there.
It's snowing in Bali.
It's like the produce section in Costco.
There's three sections here.
One, two, and three.
The first one is to just get all the moisture off your body.
The second one is 64 degrees Celsius.
Minus 64 degrees Celsius.
The third one is minus 110 degrees Celsius.
Apparently, you have to keep on giving thumbs up if you're okay in there.
It must be kind of cold.
This feels funny.
A good test of our mental strength.
Going to see who lasts the longest.
The person who loses, dies.
We're training to go to Antarctica with Justin.
This is nothing.
It's cold.
It's like the frozen section.
My eyes are frozen.
All of my eyebrows are sticking together.
All of my face.
My nipples are frozen.
It's so cold.
Freeze.
That was kind of crazy.
I'm like frostbite on my cheeks.
My nipples won't fall off.
Look at it. It's so big.
And our crocs turned into rocks.
The last minute I wanted to get out.
It's so cold.
Look at Kaz's eyelashes and eyebrows.
They're frozen.
It's just like a weird feeling.
It's like you're kind of stuck in the produce section at Costco
and you can't find the right blueberries, you know?
I feel like the ice bath might be kind of colder.
You feel a really deep cold.
The longer it goes, the worse it is for sure.
I think if you were in there for 10 minutes, you'd probably die.
Maybe on the mental aspect, the ice bath is maybe more painful
and you kind of have to get over it and relax and get into that deep zen state.
But this is more like just being in a really cold breeze
and you're kind of shivering.
Your nipples are even more swollen now.
Don't look at it.
It's going to feel so good to get outside.
Get in the sun.
And that was the cryo chamber experience.
What's next?
Sensory deprivation tank.
But only two of the brothers can go.
So we're going to play John Cannapoe or ching chong chuk
or rock, paper, scissors, whatever you want to call it.
Ching chong chuk.
Oh, you get to go.
Chuk.
Ching chong chuk.
I'm the ching chong chuk master.
Did you know there's a whole tournament with that in Canada?
Hey.
We're going into the deprivation tank for a whole hour.
You pretty much just float in salt water and you can't touch anything.
You're just in this really dark room and it's supposed to take away all your senses.
And it's really hard to know how much time it is.
It could be five minutes or 15 minutes.
It's really confusing.
The float tank is my personal favorite of all these things.
You can just completely let go of your body in the deepest meditative state possible.
So I'm excited. I haven't done this in a while.
Oh, it's warm.
The water is quite warm.
Travis and I are going to do this at the same time in different pods.
And we're going to go into a different dimension and meet over there.
Yeah, let's have a conversation on the other side.
All right, I'll see you there.
Do we go in with shorts or naked?
Again, it's up to you. So you go naked or...
I think it's nice to go naked, honestly.
So it's going to be weird to film.
Because we're trying to get all of the distractions out of here, you know, even the shorts.
All right, I'll see you.
While my brothers are in the sensory deprivation tank experiencing extreme relaxation,
the first time they've been floating weightless since they were in my mother, our mother's womb.
They're probably experiencing some weird things right now.
Your clothes are going in.
Complete blackness.
There's so much salt in here that you float.
You get completely weightless.
Good night.
We're going to do a different dimension to meet Travis.
I'm going to get in the hyperbaric chamber.
Basically, it's this chamber that they pressurize, pump pure oxygen in.
And then not only are you breathing it, but it's also getting forced into your body through your skin and stuff.
It's supposed to be really good for concussions.
I'm really excited.
I haven't done it in this legit chamber before.
I'm a little nervous.
I don't know what to expect.
Tell my mom I love her.
I fell asleep for, I don't even know how long, just like 10 minutes or something.
But then after that, I was waking up and then I felt really aware, which is nice.
Has it been 20 minutes?
It feels like it's been five hours.
We lose track of time, which is crazy.
That was amazing.
It feels like a new day.
It feels like a different day.
I don't want to see my phone.
I want to go back in there.
Weird twitches and sounds.
Sounds?
Like, is my breathing?
I don't even know what just happened to me.
Yeah, it was super psychedelic.
We're decompressurizing.
That was pretty crazy.
I could feel the oxygen throughout my body.
My body felt super light.
It was really intense, the pressure and stuff.
I could feel it actually pushing down into my skin.
Yeah, thank you.
Definitely gotta do that again.
That was pretty insane.
So that was a pretty amazing experience.
We got to try a bunch of different new things that we've never tried before.
I personally really loved the deprivation tank.
It's crazy how your whole body feels like it's unlocking.
Your senses disappear, but you go inward.
It's just a beautiful experience.
I think the combination of doing it all together made me feel really good.
My body just feels relaxed and aligned.
I just feel good.
I walked into this place feeling surfed out and tired.
Just a little bit out of it, and now I feel really good.
I think it's a life goal of mine to have a place like this
where I can just keep doing it.
It's pretty cool to know that you can just come do these sort of activities
to feel better.
You know there's something there to bring you back, to help you recover.
We're going to wake up tomorrow feeling even better than we did today,
which is so crazy.
If you guys have any access to any of these biohacks,
definitely look into them.
Give them a try.
If you're here in Indonesia, come by here in Uluwatu.
The sauna in this place is a dream.
I'm going to go ice bath in sauna.
Watch the sun touch the ocean again.
Thank you, guys.
Thank you.
