Welcome to the Hurt Locker.
In the continuing torture
of the Tastings Director of Vinepair, that's me,
I'm gonna taste two roses blind
and try to decide which one's expensive
and which one is not.
Which one do I do first?
It doesn't matter.
I don't know what they are.
Minerally, peachy, like peach skin.
That's a thing.
A little bit of strawberries.
Okay, not bad, all right.
Let's give it a taste.
Mm, mm, rich, velvety.
It has some depth to it, like it has a weight to it.
Okay, I don't know.
You know, it's kind of neutral.
Doesn't have a lot going on.
This had more nose than this.
It just smells like minerals.
I mean, there's nothing wrong with that,
but it doesn't give a lot of expressiveness on the nose.
Maybe some strawberries.
Ooh, ooh.
Okay, this one doesn't have as much weight.
This one is a little bit more refreshing.
This one doesn't have a lot of expressiveness
even on the palate, but the texture is there.
Very nice rose.
I think this one is less expensive
and this one is more expensive.
That is my final answer, that's my final guess.
So this is the cheap one and this is the expensive one.
That's why I'm the Tasting Inspector of Vinepear.
Next up, sparkling rose.
They want to continue to do this to me
even though I'm often right.
That's a lie.
I'm not often right, but I want to be.
Ooh, ooh.
Ah, it's really nice and jammy with strawberries
and yogurt and some like,
some confectioner's sugar type thing going on there.
Like some glaze on a donut, if you will, right?
Mm, it's soft, it's round, it's juicy.
The bubbles are very soft.
They're not aggressive.
This is a nice sparkling rose.
Huh.
So the fruit in this is very subtle
and there's a little kind of herby note going on to it.
I'm not mad at it, it's actually pretty cool.
Kind of, kind of like breaks apart
the sweetness of the wine.
Woo!
Oh, those bubbles take over your mouth.
This is like a hot tub with like half the jets on.
This is a hot tub with all the jets on.
It's just a little much.
And also the fruit is a little bit,
not muted, but just not as expressive.
I'm gonna say that this is more expensive than this.
And that's my final answer.
I don't understand why they keep doing this to me
because I'm right.
This one is expensive and this one is not.
Now they're both really good, but you can just tell.
It's got that jammy jam.
So basically, in the words of Keith, I win.
I win.
I win, I won, I won, I won.
I'm the tastings director.
Hi.
Stay tuned to watch the next torture,
I mean, tasting session,
where I try to find which is expensive and which is not.
