Weekend in my Life in Italy - Visiting the countryside - Sabina

I just got back from a beautiful weekend to the Sabina region in Italy and I wanted to
tell you about it.
I really didn't vlog at all and I didn't plan on vlogging, but I wanted to share this beautiful
footage so I thought I would take this as an opportunity to show you the countryside
just outside of Rome.
After work on Friday, we packed up, got in the car, and drove out to the countryside.
There's a really good chance you've never heard of it before, but Sabina is in Lazio
and it's famous for its high quality olive oil.
The olive groves are stunning and you can see them all over the hillsides here and the
olive oil is some of the best I've ever tasted.
My dog, Lily, is so happy to have all this space and nature to run in so I really love
taking her here just to see her be so happy.
She bounces around like a bunny and just has the best time.
If you want to plan your own escape here, you should look up the town called Farfa.
It has an ancient Benedictine abbey that dates back to the 6th century.
The abbey of Farfa is gorgeous with beautiful architecture and history and it's its own
little town and I'll link a video here where I tour and talk more about it.
There's also a restaurant in the area where the Benedictine nuns actually cook the food
and serve you.
They are your waitresses.
They do everything and my boyfriend's parents talk so much about it.
They really love it, so I've yet to go, but I would love to and maybe try to film a little
bit of that because it sounds like such a cool experience.
The whole region is so lush and green and has a medieval feel in the towns because of
the narrow streets, the old stone buildings, and all of the scenery.
We did some walking through the rolling hills and olive groves and just enjoyed the views.
The landscape here is so peaceful and relaxing and is perfect for a nature getaway.
Plus, my boyfriend's parents definitely have green thumbs and their garden is just stunning.
We went to a little pizzeria for dinner and you would think that it wouldn't be mind-blowing
being in the middle of a random town that you've never heard of, but it's seriously
one of the best pizzas I've ever had.
We all get four different flavors and share them, so it's so good.
And for dessert, you have to try the tiramisu.
It's out of this world.
One of the best things about being out of Rome is being able to fall asleep with nothing
but the sound of silence and nature.
And another beautiful thing is waking up in the morning to let my dog out without having
to get dressed or put her on a leash or deal with people, traffic, noise, and chaos just
as soon as I wake up.
So I really enjoy this.
I think a real luxury is having a home-cooked meal prepared for you by someone else.
So this was a nice treat to have lunch prepared for us by my boyfriend's mom.
The people out here are so kind and friendly and welcoming.
When I stay in Rome for too long, I encounter rude people far too often and then I start
to generalize that Italians are rude, but it's not really Italians.
It's just that Rome is a big touristy city and you're going to encounter rude people
in any big city in the world.
So it's just refreshing to get out of the city and interact with normal, real people
who are actually kind.
We need more kindness in the world, so this was definitely good for my heart.
Throughout different times in the year, there are festivals and markets, and I'll link
another video where I went to a food and wine festival here.
Sabina is a fantastic mix of history and natural beauty, and it's really the perfect destination
if you want to relax, explore outside, and enjoy some of Italy's best food, wine, and
views.
I hope you're doing well.
Thanks for watching this short little video, and I'll see you in the next one.
Ciao, friend!
