Press face manager Les Soirants knowing a win would keep them on the podium with just
one further game to play.
After last week's draw with Nantes, Lyon dug Les Pirates out of a hole, having lost
a well themselves 4-3.
Press were delighted to see Pierre Sage's men do the same to top three rival Lille.
Will still departed early so his assistant Samba Diwara taking the reins and the former
Mali international N'Lehuemois' current winless streak of five.
Filled to see through the mist, the press hoped to make a quick start and they were
in on goal.
Only for Ivan Djouf to make a fine save to deny Madi Kamara, without Gua's men having
to do without two of their stalwarts Pierre Les Melus, Romain Del Castillo and Slouk to
take advantage.
In fact it was Marco Bizot who had to save from his own player Jonas Martin in the brilliant
Les Melus.
More opportunities for Reims, excellent movement, paid dividends with the opening goal.
Martial Benetzi making the move to get on the end of a wondrous ball from Junya Ito.
But then the press are made of stronger stuff, the Pirates plied forward looking for a response,
they almost find it through Ugo Benetti, left-footed volley, just squeezing past the post.
Will still left earlier than expected, there's a certain amount of freedom, what about N'Lehuemois?
Champagne club though, so Ito's shot drag wide and then breasts equalised in injury
time at the end of the first half.
Well he was the match winner in the crazy nine goal thriller against Britain rivals
Rennes, Lillian Brassier then scoring once again this time on home soil.
The Pirates knew they needed more than just a point to maintain a podium position ahead
of Lille, they went in hunt of a winner.
Jeremy Le Douaron, one of those to benefit from an availability of Romelu Del Castillo,
couldn't find the target.
Marie Kamra who almost started things off finding Steve Meunier, and he missed the cross.
Le Douaron again failed to hit the target.
Holding on towards the end, Bilal Brahimi, back after his suspension.
Meunier didn't get enough power on his header, and in the end it was one apiece.
Brest in the end would fall off the podium on goal difference, and Lille held on to beat Nantes.
It will be some cracking final day, Nantes stuck in the mid-table but ending their run
with three straight defeats.
