As of January 1, 2023, individuals with Medicare prescription drug coverage can access certain recommended preventive adult vaccines at no cost. These vaccines covered under Medicare Part D include RSV, shingles, tetanus/diphtheria (Td), tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap), hepatitis A, and hepatitis B. Additionally, Medicare Part B already covers flu, pneumococcal, COVID-19, and certain other vaccines without any cost-sharing. State Medicaid programs are also now mandated to cover specific recommended adult vaccinations without cost-sharing for many adults enrolled in Medicaid. Visit LowerDrugCosts.gov to learn more.

my name is Mike I'm a pharmacist I'm
seeing a lot more seniors getting the
shingle shot the RSV shot and other
vaccines now that they're free on
Medicare because of the inflation
reduction act all right so I'm just
going to clean with an alcohol swab
first for you okay just going to be a
little pinch
mhm and it's cool you know you don't
have to co-pay there's no cost
associated with it I'm glad I got this
shot right I had customers that did put
off getting vaccinated for some time
even maybe months because their co-pays
were just too high even though they
wanted protection they couldn't get
it as an older adult on Medicare it
means a lot I know a lot of us live on a
budget and the co-pay may seem small to
someone else but it isn't to us I'm on
fixed income and so this going to mean a
lot to me and a lot of others out here
now I can get it without worrying about
money as a community pharmacist the
inflation reduction act has absolutely
made a
difference for more information on the
