We leave the region of the Al Wahda dam, heading south, to discover our first experience of Workaway in Morocco. At 3 p.m., we arrive in the town of Ain Taoujdate. Mohamed and Abdel Quadere are there to welcome us and show us around the property, the gardens and introduce us to the many animals of this enchanted farm. During this week, we will mainly work in the garden. We start by building a giant bin to hold the compost. We will also try our hand at landscaping by planting many plants and taking care of the decoration of the gardens. Paintings, landscaping, weeds, diseased cacti etc. One day, Bob returns to the farm overjoyed, he has just found a Renault 4L in great condition for 400 euros! We are very surprised to discover how different the gear change is than on our recent cars. Thursday is market day in Ain Taoujdate. Once our fruit and vegetable purchases are made, we continue the day by exploring the city of Fez. When entering a clothing store, we find a staircase at the back of the store that we take. We climb a few floors and here we are in the first lodge of the famous open-air tannery of Fez. From Fez, we go around the city by the heights to try to find the official spot where the ceramics are made. Finally, after a week we decide to do our business for fear of taking Roots in this eponymous farm. Life is good when you manage to get out of the financial world to return to barter and the exchange of services. We are happy with this balance that we manage to create over time and which allows us to travel for a long time in another system at a lower cost. Random encounters and the resulting learning are a great way to grow and flourish in this vast world.
Bon, on en était où?
Des étoiles pleines les yeux, we're on our way and we leave the region of the Ouada dam, heading south,
to the discovery of our first experience of walking away in Morocco.
But we'll talk about it in a moment.
The landscapes that we cross during these three hours of road are super impressive
The diversity and the lunar atmosphere.
We really believe we're on another planet and we're having trouble knowing if we're on Mars or Pluto.
The dark sky filled with thick clouds overhead and offered us a delicious 23 degrees average.
The rose-colored areas and the villages that meet in the mountains.
At 15 o'clock, we arrive in the town of Eintauchtat.
We stand at the station to contact our future host and after a few minutes of waiting,
I'm getting directions to the farmhouse, 10 minutes from the city centre.
Following Bob's directions, we make our way along this long trail that leads to a portal.
We are here!
Mohamed and Abdelkader are here to welcome us and show us the property,
The gardens and introduce ourselves to the many animals of this enchanted farm.
We settle down and in the evening we meet Bob who wishes to stay in Noni.
He shares with us the many re-buildings this place has experienced in recent years.
And explain our possible missions of the next few days.
During this week, we will mainly do works in the garden.
We're about to start building a giant tank to house the compost.
A few brick branches, some reclaimed planks, a little cement to consolidate the whole thing and voilà!
Our first work is ready to receive the compost of the farm.
The construction is super la-arrache but it looks like it holds Inchallah!
It's the hour!
And see you before he gets up!
Voilà avec quoi on va faire marcher la perceuse! This is the way to go!
There's a solar panel right up there.
On a fait un petit connexion avec des rallonges (on a fact a small connection with the railings)
And then Vincent, he has a la perceuse in hand, a kind of compote, yeah, it works!
I'm also trying to do landscaping and plant many plants.
And we are occupying the garden deco.
The happiness of a boss with allergies.
So we must get rid of the unfortunate, which infest all the poor cactus du Maroc.
Is it you who is guilty?
Painting, landscaping, weeds, cactus and other plants.
In short, we'll spend hours and hours in this magnificent garden under a blazing sun.
As the days go by, we become more and more efficient.
One day, Bob came back to the Fujiwa farm.
He just found two cases and a Renault 4L in super condition for 400 euros.
We are very surprised to discover how much the speed is different than on our recent cars.
Have you seen this before?
No, I didn't know we had to go over speed.
Over the course of the days, a beautiful relationship developed between Bob, Abdelkader, Mohamed and us.
They had a lovely evening to share their lives and experiences.
In Morocco, we don't know much about it.
They will help us especially to learn our first bases of Derija, the Moroccan Arabic.
So thank you to them!
Thursday is market day in Ain Taoujdat.
On the part of discover this spot 0% touristique.
On a really the impression of being extraterrestrials fallen in the market aux bétailles by chance.
Once we've made our purchase of fruits and vegetables, we continue the day and set off to explore the city of Fez.
On the far walls of Medina and discover one of its grand imposing gates.
We wandered in these narrow streets and passed from the hustle and bustle of the shopping streets to the quiet of some shops.
Entering a clothing store, one finds a staircase at the bottom of the store that one borrows.
On monte a few etages and voilà nous aux premières loges of the famous tannery à ciel ouvert of Fez.
Fortunately, we were given mint leaves at the entrance to cover the ambiance of fiante et bergerie.
It's super impressive to see these men mixing hand in hand, in these stone vats,
the various products and tinctures necessary for the manufacture of leather articles.
Here, not the modern machine.
Everything is done by hand or with the feet.
The pots are treated for several days with natural products and then sold throughout Morocco.
Leaving Fez, we'll circle the city through the heights to try to find the official place where the ceramics are made.
Bob must buy quite a few pots for the farm and we are looking for the source to commander at the best price.
After a few minutes of travel, we are driven into a burning workers' city.
Black smoke is escaping from all the buildings.
We believe in a city at war or in a Moroccan version of Mad Max.
The flames are driving us from factory to factory until Bob finds a huge stock to buy.
After some negotiations, we'll fill the floor box and the trunk in front of the car.
The last days at the farm are peaceful.
We must continue to move forward in the garden at the pace of the enclosures.
Wow. I mean...
We thought cats were independent animals but there...
With all this, we can't write our videos, we can't record the voices off, so voilà, it's because of the chats.
Mom, I love them anyway.
I think she's from BBL.
We're also trying a whole new type of mount to see if we can swap Falkor, but we're really not very convinced.
Finally, after a week, we decided to do our business for fear of taking root in this eponymous farm.
The sunset of our last evening is memorable and the sky above the farm is on fire.
We say goodbye to Bob, Abdelkader and Mohamed and continue our journey south, once again filled with these beautiful encounters and these good moments shared.
Life is so beautiful when you get out of the financial world and go back to trading and exchanging services.
We are so happy with this balance that we arrive with the time to create and that allows us to travel long distances in another system at lower cost.
The chance of encounters and the learning that results are a beautiful way to grow and flourish in this vast world.
Vivement la suite, but all that, that's another story.
