I’m starting a new series, where I will be styling 1 ITEM in 5 different ways.
Today I’m styling my favourite wide leg blue jeans. The jeans are from &Other Stories, mine are size 28, they come up very big, but the size down felt too tight (at least for me). Link here, but looks like they’re sold out (because of the sale I guess) https://shopstyle.it/l/ccQji I believe Arket has a very similar pair and they come in a few different colours, they’re called CLOUD, link here https://shopstyle.it/l/ccQhB
We are experiencing a heat wave at the moment so I understand you wouldn’t wear your jeans now, but by definition heat waves always come to an end and then you can use my video as an inspiration for your outfits 😊
WHY I MAKE THESE VIDEOS?
I WANT YOU TO: - BE CREATIVE WITH YOUR CLOTHES - RE-STYLE YOUR OLD PIECES - LOVE WHAT YOU HAVE - FIND YOUR TRUE PERSONAL STYLE - REDUCE IMPULSE SHOPPING
Hello everyone, my name is Mariola and this is my channel Slow Down in Style.
Today I'm starting a new series One Piece Five Looks.
So as you can probably guess, I'm going to be styling one item in five different ways.
I've noticed that the more I focus on my wardrobe and try to be creative with my clothes and wear
them in different ways, the less I want to go out and shop new things because I'm more fulfilled
with what I already have. So this is the whole point of this series. I want to encourage you
to style your clothes, to love your clothes and just be creative with your wardrobe.
In this episode, I will be styling blue jeans, more specifically wide leg relaxed blue jeans.
And in my opinion, this is the best style of jeans to wear in summer because they are loose,
relaxed, they don't stick to your skin. And I'm not saying you can wear your jeans in 35 degrees
Celsius, but anything up to 30 should be okay if you pair it with nice breathable tops and good
shoes, of course. But you're not limited to wide leg jeans because all the looks I'm going to show
you can be adapted to different style of jeans. Anything from straight leg to balloon jeans,
nothing too skinny because, of course, we're talking about summer. If you would like me to
style anything in particular for this series, please let me know in the comments and I'll try
to style everything that you requested. So let's start with the first outfit.
Jeans were created to be worn casually. So I always try to elevate them by wearing more dressy
tops, adding jewelry, belt, nice bags, and well, shoes in summer, I'm not going to lie,
they're never too classy and elegant in my case. But I feel like as long as you stick to
very classic leather shoes, something like black, beige, tan, you can never go wrong.
The first item to dress up the jeans is a shirt. My favorite shirt in summer is white
linen. I have both short and long sleeve and I just choose between them depending on the
temperatures. I like this easy combination of a shirt, loose jeans, belt, and some jewelry,
nothing complicated. I usually go for gold, unless it's a white shirt. I also like to
accessorize it with silver, but also pearls, they look amazing with such simple outfits.
It's a nice, relaxed, but elevated outfit. But I wanted to show you shirts as a category.
So you can go with different colors, for example, black linen shirt and mine has short sleeve and
it's more boxy, but you can go with any style, anything that suits your body type. Black elevates
your outfit even more, especially if you pair it with gold jewelry, gold buckle on your belt.
And we have three colors, which in my opinion is the most chic way to go. Instead of wearing your
classic white and blue pinstripe shirt, you could go for a shirt dress. I love this silhouette,
plus it's another way to style your dress. My shirt is actually a beach cover-up because it's
very light, quite see-through, so I wouldn't wear it as a dress, but it's perfect for such layering
because it doesn't create too much bulk, it's very flowy. You can wear such shirt dress as a top and
just open as many buttons as you're comfortable with. I would tuck it in on one side just so it
doesn't bother you constantly, so you can actually see the waist. It also elongates your legs, so I
think it's just much more flattering. Or you can wear your white tank top and throw the shirt over
it as a cover-up. Again, I love this way of styling. I also wear it with my classic shirts.
It's really nice and breezy for hot days, especially when you're on holiday and you want to
cover your arms or you just don't like to show your arms. Another item that can elevate your jeans
instantly is a waistcoat. If you don't already have a waistcoat and you're thinking of buying,
make sure you check the composition. You don't want any polyester directly on your skin. The best
fabric, in my opinion, is linen, cotton or viscose slash lysol. So as you can see, it's so easy to
style. You don't really have to do anything as long as you go for the fit and cut that looks good
on your body type. We're very lucky now that there are so many different options in different shops,
but this also can lead to bad choices. I've seen a lot of cropped waistcoats, which in my opinion
are not the best choice because they may be too short for most of your trousers. So try it on,
make sure whatever trousers and skirts you want to pair it with, it actually looks nice. Also, the
longer length doesn't always look good or doesn't look good on everybody. Today, I added my gold
jewelry and my pearls plus a belt, which you can probably see just a tiny bit of it. And with that,
I would go for either my beige slippers or black sandals, doesn't matter. Both would work because
I have some beige and some black, so I can always choose which way I want to go. I think it's really
nice to pair such outfit with a basket bag to add something more summery because some waistcoats can
be a little bit too dressy. But if you go for linen, there is no risk because they always look
both elevated and casual. I also have my black waistcoat just to show you different options and
how I would style my black waistcoat, but this is not the best choice because it's made from wool.
You can wear your wool waistcoats if your skin is not sensitive. Black looks amazing with jeans,
as we all know, it elevates the outfit. And you have two colors here, so you can go a bit crazy
with your bag. You can either stick with black or go for basket bag or maybe even something in
completely different color, some kind of a statement bag. The next item I chose to pair my wide leg
jeans with is a cardigan. And I don't mean just any cardigan, no polyester, no cashmere, no cotton.
I mean very specifically merino wool cardigan. First of all, they're made from very fine and
breathable material. So they're a perfect layering piece for those mornings when it's still a bit
chilly or evenings when you want to dress up or just throw something on. You can always just keep
them on your shoulders as an extra layer or a decoration. I love merino jumpers because they
don't add any bulk. They look very sophisticated and elegant. Plus, you can wear them in summer
and winter. So it's such a versatile piece. I have two cardigans that I just purchased a few weeks
ago and to be honest, I couldn't make up my mind. I love them both and I can't decide whether I
should keep only one of them or both. I feel like beige is lighter in terms of styling. It's gonna
go so well with all your white trousers, white jeans, your beiges for this beautiful tonal look.
And a navy is definitely more elegant and more evening appropriate and more wintry. But I like
them both so much. I just can't decide. Maybe you can help me and let me know which one looks better
on me. Thank you. Cardigans are so preppy but when I style them a little bit, I pull up the sleeves,
I open the buttons to show a lot of the cleavage. I also open the button at the bottom more for
styling purposes but also to show the belt because I always find it more interesting. I've realized
it's actually very much my style. I went for very classic black belt, black shoes, black bag or a
basket bag. Something more classy. I really love this juxtaposition of oversized relaxed jeans,
very casual jeans and ladylike and preppy cardigan. A classic combination in my wardrobe is a tank top
and a blazer. Combined with wide leg jeans it's a perfect smart casual outfit. Now of course when
it's hot you can just wear your tank top and jeans but I really wanted to add the blazer for those
colder days, again chilly mornings, in the evening as a nice going out piece. I've prepared two quite
different outfits. One is with black tank top and one with white. So the black version will be more
dressy, evening appropriate, going to a restaurant, pub, anything like that. So I have this one base of
black tank top and silver accessories. Whether you wear it with a black blazer or white blazer it's
such a nice dressy but modern outfit. I really love this silver bag especially with this outfit
and I love white with silver. But you can dress it down of course with different accessories and
different bag, maybe basket bag again. Basket bag is great for dressing down any outfit and make it
more summery. And the second outfit with a tank top and the blazer I prepared is very light and summery
white tank top and beige blazer. In this case the blazer is linen and it's only half lined so it's
a really nice option for summer. This is such an easy outfit. It looks elegant and chic. I think
accessories play a very big role here because I kept them in a similar shade of a blazer. So
shoes, bag, also jewelry. This bag, in case you ask, is my very old bag that I got in some high street shop
in Poland. But I've always loved the shape of the bag and how comfortable it is to carry. It looks
really put together as well. I have good news for you. If you like the bag I've discovered recently
a Spanish brand called Heru. I'm not sure how you pronounce it. And I think their shoes and bags
are handmade. You can really see the quality. Their bags look almost identical to my bag and they have
one in black and beige. And to be honest if I could I would buy both of them. The last outfit I would
call an elevated top. So something that's a little bit more special than your classic t-shirt or a
tank top or your very classic shirt. I don't have that many special tops I must say or elevated tops.
And I think this is the area I would love to explore and add at least one piece to. So for me
an elevated top is something like this silk tank top. It's quite simple but it has this ruching
detail in the front. Not too shiny but it's got a nice texture and it does dress up simple jeans.
So it looks really nice with heels like your sandals and a nice jacket or a blazer for an
evening. Now the second top would be this wrap top. It's not as dressy in terms of material but the
style is very feminine. So even with simple jeans that kind of outfit is going to look really nice
and put together. And the third elevated top would be something like a knitted tank top or just knitted
sleeveless top. So it doesn't have to be anything like that because this is really quite casual.
Actually it doesn't have to be elegant. It's more about something interesting in that top. So yeah
this is just knitted linen top. It looks really nice with any trousers, with shorts. I love knitted
tops in summer. If it's made from linen, cotton, viscose it's actually really nice and cool on your
skin. But of course these tops are quite conservative and neutral. You could go for something
floral or polka dot, maybe crochet or lace. I think in summer we're more brave to experiment with
colorful dresses or tops. So I would strongly recommend and encourage you to find something
that is still quite classic that you can wear over and over for many years but is more special
and different. So that's it. One pair of jeans and five looks. Actually much more than just five
because I showed you different variations. Let me know if you enjoyed this video, if it's something
you would like to see more of. I'm not sure what's going to be next. Maybe I will listen to your
suggestions and style something very specific for summer. Just a simple message from me at the end
of this video. Please re-wear your clothes, be creative, get inspiration from different sources
so you can actually enjoy your clothes to the fullest. And I promise you, the more you style
your clothes, the more you love them and the less you want to buy more clothes. It's simple. So let's
all try to be more mindful and focus on the clothes we already have. Thank you so much for watching.
Please give me a thumbs up for this video if you enjoyed it and subscribe to my channel.
That's it from me and I see you in my next video. Bye!
