Food for seniors, healthy eating for older adults.
Foods create energy for our bodies to function.
It's true, no food, no energy.
Unhealthy food, low energy.
Most of the energy we need comes from foods packed with carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
We are what we eat. It's important the foods we choose to eat and enjoy.
Our nutritional needs are found in five dietary food groups plus water.
The United States five dietary food groups are vegetables, fruits, proteins, whole grains, and dairy.
It's really that simple.
Eat foods in those five food groups in the right portions.
Eat them in all situations and circumstances as often as possible.
It does not matter whether you're dieting to lose weight,
or you're struggling with high blood pressure, or high bad cholesterol, for example.
All five food groups combined plus water can help you achieve good or improved health.
Amazing, isn't it?
Eating foods throughout the day that include all five food groups plus water will help you have a healthy eating pattern.
