Hello, hello, hello. Welcome back to Exotic Wine Travel. I'm your host, Matthew Horky.
So we're in the small town of Lompoc, California. It's in Santa Barbara County,
and as you can see, we're in two blocks of warehouses. But these aren't just any warehouses.
This is a very unique, very unique wine tasting situation. We're in the Lompoc
wine ghetto. We have a concentration of 24 boutique wineries in two blocks of warehouses here.
Makes for a very, very, very unique tasting experience, because you can just walk from
tasting room to tasting room. Now, Santa Barbara County was made famous, obviously,
by the film Sideways. That's what inspired me to come here. World-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
But we are actually impressed with the different varieties that are grown here besides the Pinot
and the Chardonnay. We were tasting at Palmina, where they focus strictly on Italian varieties.
Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto. We tasted a lot of Rome varieties, Syrah,
Roussan, Muvedra, Grenache. We also tasted at Moretti, another Italian guy, creating
also some Syrah, some beautiful Italian wines. Just a very impressive experience.
Serene tasted probably their most interesting Sauvignon Blanc she's ever had at Fiddlehead
Cellars, which is just across the way. So unfortunately, we don't have more time here.
There's a lot of interesting wines here. The standard of Santa Barbara wines, the very bottom
baseline, is quite high. What I mean by that is there's not very much, there's not a lot of bad
wine here. All the wines here are spectacular. We're going to head into the valley. I hope you
like this video. Come check out the Wine Ghetto if you're in this area. You're only about an hour
and a half northwest of LA. If you like this video, please subscribe to our YouTube channel,
